Springbok emblem . . .

I used to get quite upset by the politicians calling for the Springbok emblem to be replaced with the Protea.

I've changed my mind.

Now I actively hope they replace the Springbok with the Protea and the sooner the better. At least that way the Springbok can be retired while it still has a shred of dignity and the brand still has some credibility.

Maybe in years to come when we no longer have race based legislation we can recall the Springbok, but for now - while we're a nation which still effectively practices apartheid and while we're getting thumped by teams like Japan, Ireland and Argentina - by all means lets change to the Proteas!

Not sure if you need someone to help you understand the timeline here but I'm definitely not taking each way bets.
