Springbok Perforances thus far this year

Lets look a bit at the performances of players thus far this year - taking into account actual performances.   I used a formula - plus for sustained performances and minus for sub-par performances.

Backline players        

The majority of backline players are in the minus category - some worse than others.   We still have a serious problem on the wings and at center.   There is thus far no real alternatives showing anything much - some are just worst than others.   

The inside backs look more positive - but other than Pollard and to a lesser degree Du Plessis there was nothing new on display,   I rate Jantjies below par based on his performances throughout the Super Rugby season - in two matches he was very poor -  in the others only slightly better,  

Forwards   

Amongst the loosies Vermeulen did what he did in the tests in June last year - good in the irst two matches and then he went AWOL.   Cannot see him lasting through the Super Rugby series at all.  

The locks situation looks somewhat better.   Schickerling has been very good and unfortunately De Jager only played in one match - where he was outstanding.   Jacques du Plessis looked good - but more often at no 8 than at lock.

The prop situation looks better than the rest and so do the hookers.   Back-up seems a problem - but that is not a major one

A somewhat limited scoring system.

Minus, Minus 1, Minus 2

Plus 0 and Minus 0 do not exist, so it does not seem to be any difference between these 2 rating values. 0 also does not change the original rating value

Vermeulen has had some good games, and he gets a -1. 

I agree - Vermeulen had two good fames and then went down faster and faster.  

I thought of zero also - but that means zero performance and there are some deserving it.

It really is a sad day when one looks at a list of Bok players and sees that the majority of them should never have been capped to begin with.

Garbage like Mbonambi, Kolisi, Nyakane, Esterhuizen, Van Zyl, Jantjies, Am, Hendricks, Mapimpi, De Allende ... lord have mercy ... what a lot of 2nd rate garbage we have representing our nation ...

It is indeed tragic - some backline players started off very well and then fell into the trap set by the stone age donkey coaches they were subjected to.   Some like Le Roux and Pollard got themselves out of the mess - but others did not,
