This is the group that was selected to participate in the alignment camp.

It is from Sunday 23 October until Wednesday 26th October.

Not sure if this is the final group but looks very close.

My only concern is that the Japan based players have not played for a while and what training they have done.

We don't want to start a test match against Ireland with players that are rusty. Like we saw against Wales

Players invited to Bok training camp:

Props: Thomas du Toit (Sharks), Steven Kitshoff, Frans Malherbe (both Stormers), Ox Nche (Sharks)
Hookers: Malcolm Marx (Kubota Spears), Bongi Mbonambi (Sharks)
Locks: Lood de Jager (Wild Knights), Eben Etzebeth (Sharks), Salmaan Moerat (Stormers)
Loose Forwards: Pieter-Steph du Toit (Toyota Verblitz), Siya Kolisi (Sharks), Elrigh Louw (Bulls), Kwagga Smith (Shizuoka Blue Revs)
Utility Forwards: Deon Fourie (Stormers), Franco Mostert (Honda Heat)
Scrumhalves: Faf de Klerk (Yokohama Canon Eagles), Jaden Hendrikse (Sharks)
Flyhalf: Johan Goosen (Bulls)
Centres: Jesse Kriel (Yokohama Canon Eagles), Damian de Allende (Wild Knights)
Outside backs: Kurt-Lee Arendse (Bulls), Willie le Roux (Toyota Verblitz), Makazole Mapimpi (Sharks), Canan Moodie (Bulls), Sbu Nkosi (Bulls)
Utility back: Damian Willemse (Stormers)

Again, why is Deon Fourie our 3rd Hooker. He hasn't played hooker for 10 years and refused to help the Stormers out last year.

Goosen didn't even last a full 40 min, how will he be fit to start against Ireland in 3 weeks time. Still out of form.

Won't read too much into it. Given that some players are in France and England.

Agreed...use that Selection to rather pick Roos or Johan Grobelaar....Rather Libbok or Boeta than Goosen.

Good to see they have ditched the idea of Frans Steyn What the fuck is Deon Fourie doing there I see they are choosing a squad of 54 for the tests and midweek games

Just read on Supersport that Uncle Frans is still considered as one of there Flyhalf options for NovemberTour.....he doesn't need to go to alignment camp, as R&N know already what they have in him....so I really wonder if they even going to consider to pick another inform Flyhalf....I personally don't think so.

Mpower I read that as well but I reckon it’s bullshit as one could say the same about 95% of the players selected for the camp They know exactly what the likes of Kitshoff, Malherbe, Marx, Eben, de Allende etc have to offer

Steyn is not a match-day player, he is a squad player. So he is probably less vital to have around.
I expect Steyn will be going to Europe this year, and probably next year at the world cup.

Goosen is the only recognised flyhalf in that team. Although Willemse will be in the starting XV, hopefully at inside centre.

Goosen unfortunately is too injury-prone. Can he make it through 3 back to back tests.

Goosen is a natural flyhalf - but his main problem is he is injury-prone.   Libbok is another player in the style of Curwin Bosch - he will be iunbable to take the step up from franchise to Springbok level and to my mind not worth investing in.   The other natural flyhalf is Ngomesulu,    I would rather have seen him being in the squad than Goosen - and definitely ahead of Libbok.

We have no inside center problem and the more it is made out to be a critical position we have no cover on - despite the comments on this site De Allende is regarded by experts to be one of the top no 12's in the world.    As long as De AQllende remains fit - he will be starting at 12.   I think we have some ch oices at 13

So back to the flyhalf position - Jantjies failed totally in the one test he started this year.   Pollard was an early developer and became injury-prone in the last two years,.  He is totally out of form and  he is not the player he used to eb just 2 years ago?  Did he lose the plot earlier than normal - ie before he reaches the age of 30?   He was passed on to Worcester by  Montpellier - with the present financial problems of  Worcester - he may be jobless soon and may return ti play rugby in SA.   Maybe that would get him back to track

Also see there is a tussle between Eddie and Rassie over Sacha Ngumozulu. Apparently he has a British passport. Although, I think he is really talented. He hasn't had the same amount of first class games that a player like Marcus Smith had. Smith has been playing for Herlequins since he was 17 and the reason why Tim Swiel had to head back to the Cape.

I think the Sacha will be great for us, but he needs to get first calls experience. Although, I could be wrong

Best we hang onto Sacha - they should take him on EOYT and cap him off the bench against Italy and play him in the midweek games That is exactly what I would do
