Great trip down memory lane. Who was the greatest Flank. cant make up my mind!
Springbok Rugby - The Greatest Ever Flanks
Beeno
I have all these flanks play and for me there were two issues that count, namely
* physicality and ball skills; and
* physicality, ball skills coupled to ball sense
I am always more interested in the second aspect and would rate the top two loosies I have eer seen playing as -
1 Schalk Burger in his prime; and
2 Rob Louw
The fear Naas Botha had of him was a joy to watch. How Naas got the ball behind the tryline and dropped it when he saw Rob coming for him was really showing what a loosie should be.
The problem with some of the ten was the number of handling errors they made in games, I would ate them as in the top 10 - but not really the best.
Mozart
I picked Burger based on his performances in his prime - after his return in 2015 he does ntop belong in the top 10.
Well Burger was iRB player of the year. Cant complain with him being chosen as the best. Venter was also a powerhouse 7 a truly great player much in the Teuns Stoffberg mould.
Was Louw any better than Rassie - who was so often in the right place running great lines - very clever player..
Clever ball sense loosies make for better players in those posi tions.. .
