The transformation goals do not appear to have been met by this squad. It is 16 players out of 36, which is below the required target. The target also includes filling a mix of positions on the on the field. 
Many of these players are merit selections anyway, with a few quotas which are mostly to cover all key positions in the squad with representation. I am not sure in some instances if some players will be considered of colour.

The worst selections are probably Bongi, Oupa, and Rudy Page. Raymond Rule needs to improve his game quickly. Combrink would have been a better choice. Combrink offers a long distance boot and can also cover fullback, and offers more on defense. 
Kolisi is in exceptional form- and combines well with the Lions/Bok running game plan. Ditto with Jantjies, and Dillon Leyds, Skosan
Gqoboka-  is good ball in hand and could make a good impact player. He has not had much exposure but could be a lucky packet. 
Nyakane - can play on both sides of the scrum. Is solid- and contributes outside of the set piece. 

ChillyBoy is a good player, but has not reproduced the form he was in some years back. He is solid in all of his play. 
Rudy Page is a quota, although our scrumhalf depth is not great- especially without Faff. Hougaard is an impact player in the 2nd half. 
Cassiem needs more time to stake his claim. Gelant needs some coaching- given he is at the Bulls- pre-John. So he is still an unknown quantity. 

I am not sure why Francious Venter is in the squad. Mapoe is a much better option- as is the 2 Lions centres.
Warren Whitely is a big loss as a captain to direct the gameplan. Maybe Kolisi should get a shot as captain, otherwise, it is Etzabeth. 

Mapoe didn't have a good game today, but Venter is worse. Janse has the potential to be a top test centre.....Vorster is workmanlike, but not exceptional. Combrink was anything but convincing in the tests last year, but Rhule and Skosan are not going to make it in my view. .. Incredible hype about Combrink before the final.

Yes agreed, the biggest omission is Janse. He should be playing outside Jantjies for the Boks.

This is an insult to the SA Rugby supporters - how can players who cannot make the starting line-ups of their Super Rugby sides be in the Springboks squad?
The worst selections are -
*   Nyakane - the worst scrummager imaginable*   Paige*   Rhule  - the worst defender imaginable*   Rallepele - way past his best and cannot make4 the gade*   Mohoje - never ever a good enough player
I also have problems with some other players and wpould like to see what the match day squads looked like.
Even though losing  in the final - I do think there were some improvement in Super Rugby this year - with some very real exceptions and in the French tests there were signs of improvement in the team.    However, the squad is oibvio9usly selected putting down the quota players and then filling up the rest.  
One cannot believe that the squad represents the best players in SA and I cannot but worry whether the team will not end up as the wooden spooners in the RC again.   I think that the team has been weakened considerably by the useless selections.      

 I have lost a lot of interest in the Charade that is racist SA Rugby. One wonders why the IRB doesn't ban South Africa for its racist policies. What a bunch of hypocritsA nice ban until merit selections are adopted would be most welcome.Meanwhile the abs imagine that they are number 1 bwahahahahahaha whata delusional bunch.

Ja nee, What a poor squad. Might be lucky to get 2 wins out of 6 in championship. I want to do a table of which players should be there. Unfortunately the selection of below par players along we 3rd rate players of colour has messed the entire objective view up. Just look at the likes of Australia and New Zealand and it is going to be tough. NZ just dropped Save. Had he been a Springbok we would have played him until 2023, but because on no competition at franchises or at BOKS level. We will always have half baked team.

Even with that squad the Springboks will comfortably finish 2nd in the Rugby Championship.

We're bad but the Wallabies and Pumas are even worse.

 The problem is that in SA merit selection is not the norm and their are all kinds of other norms used over the last the five years:=
Meyer
*    He selected players he was familiar with:; and- when that did not work out.*    He selected players on the basis that he knew what they were capable of without reference to when they were capable  - in other words reputation players without regard to present performance; and*    For the rest tried to get as many as possible quota players into the squad sop as to meet the Quota requirements of the Government
There was virtually no regard in respect of the Meyer squads as to performance and the expected mess reminds me of the saying of Mae West - his mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork.

He is just too stupid to recognize talent in players and then decided the norm should only be quota selections - without regard to performance.   He is just a puppet on a string - b ad news - very bad news for rugby lovers. 

 Agree Mike, Meyer was to deep up the Bull back side to look outside of his own structure. Pieter De Villiers brought back some of the world cup winners, which to his credit was great as we had a great 2009 season. At that stage, we didn't actually select players who played outside of SA. 
SARU then decided to start fielding expats, and that is where the crap started. 
The other problem was with John Smit, that guy should never have been kept on, but we were so afraid to drop the guy because of what happened to Mallet and Gary Teichman. Everybody believed that we would win the world cup had we kept our captain, but that isn't true. It was a Larkham's drop goal that knocked us out and no captain could of saved us against that. 
De Villies didn't even coach the team, just patched the guys up and let them play the way they wanted. The writing was on the wall 24 months out, but it was little to late when Rassie came on board to sort things out. 
Fast forward to the Meyer era, which I believe begun 4 years to late. We had absolutely no backup players as Piet Pompies stuck with dodgy quota selections and never created competition within the squad. The flops like earl the pearl, to name a few. 
Meyer had absolutely no-one to work with, so you defaulted to what he knew. 
He did leave us some good players, but his problem was that he held on to crocked players and out of form players for too long. Bryan Habana was hopelessly out of shape and cost us many games with his stupid intercept attempts. 
Meyer didn't even built players up, what happened to JJ or Kruger. When it came to world cup selections and we had to deal with same old quotas such as Zane Kirchner
Now, we have 40 % of the squad that should put up decent fight, but having somebody like Chilli or Rudy Paige run out for the boks sends chills down my spine. They are clearly not the best.
