Springbok Team as Announced - Problems not eliminated

I don't understand Meyer's obsession with Pienaar. And of course this team will be competitive. The way they play will determine how competitive.

Any lock weighing in at 108kgs is not a lock's arse anymore - the locks are at least 10 kgs heavier and more muscled than our poor old man is.   A schoolbouy like Zandbergh of Outeniqua already is 118 kgs and like anyone else would just push our stringbean out of the way.  
That means the Tight  5 is weakened so as to have Matfield in the team - and what do we get in return?   Last week it was five line outs - in two of which he was pulled over and the Springboks had to struggle to get the ball back.    Sad to see that happening - but our coach still believe in Matfield being essential - even by now he should in all reasonableness have seen what is going on.    

 The reasoning behind his only changing Morne. If i try for a moment to understand the mind of Meyer, would at my guess be as follows.
He knows Steyn and Pienaar needed dropping but it creates a dilemma. The reason being that it's rather simple for us and almost logical to say "Ring in the changes. We have noting to lose." 
Yet for Meyer, he has his own neck to think about. 
If he suddenly changes both of them, keeping in mind that they are both key positions, people will retrospectively question his previous allegiance to them. IE, "hold on a second there Mr KnuckleTits, are you now, after all this time in the job, finally admitting that you have gotten it wrong??? Where would we be right now had this massive oversight not occured?"
So he was left in a situation where he could do one of three things as far as the half-back pairing was concerned. A) Nothing which would have been totally unacceptable. B) Changed them both, which would bring the above into play. C) Change one of them and try to transition sneekily out of his self-created problem.
Of course i am only guessing since one can never hope to understand the mind of a nutter such as Meyer, but i do feel he went with option C, for selfish reasons. 
As for Vic. We missed him at lineout time in the previous game and then against Oz the following week we could at least count on half or our set pieces to retain ball. Of course we do need young blood. Still highly uncomfortable with Loods though...the Nesquick boy hehe. Though there are other options.
Predition. I predict that Pienaar will be subbed rather early on in the game. Though if the weather is as poor as predicted then he may keep him on for the classic Spring-Box kicking bullcrap that we all hate so much. The home tests will be a different story though. Do you guys realize this might be Pienaar's last game in Green & Gold. Geez the prospect of that excites me greatly!!!!!!!!!

Making sudden changes is an admittance that he's been clueless all along.

He did the same thing with JJ and Kirchner and Gurthro and Bakkies and now I guess it's Morne's turn.

He's a spineless a$$. Only brave when he's part of a conspiracy but cowardly when he stands alone. A useless coach if ever there was one.

There will be others, of that I have no doubt. 

 Glad to see that Morne is dropped, but we are still left with Pienaar who has done absolutely nothing this season. Then we have Hougaard who have been struggling to perform all year long at 9. Good player but doesn't have the BMT for 9. Reinach is a good instinctive player but lacks the service. I personally would have included Van Zyl in the squad as he is the only 9 in SA with a decent service. I would use Reinach as an impact player as he can really cause havoc given half an inch. So at least you would have a 9 with a great pass and Reinach to come in later to up the tempo

 It is a decent side. Front row is solid, glad about Strauss being retained. Lock, well, Matfield is decent at Line out and kick-off, Etzebeth is pretty solid all round. Our loosies are very good! No. 9 complete stuff-up! No 10, who knows, wait and see I guess. Backs no problems, I was worried about Serfontein, but he did well enough against Aus.
The game is probably going to be lost for us by our 9 and 10.  

I have a problm with bland statements about Matfield's profciency in line outs.   It si easyto say we were ineffcient at Salta and better in Perth - but were we?
In Salta our no 5 lock took 6 line outs cleanly and the question now is - was Matfield better?  He took five line outs - two of which he was keeled over backwrds and a rug had to be formed to recover the ball - with some diffulty I may add - slowing down the ball and taking quick line out possession out of comntention.  .   
In Salta  we scored a try from a rolling maul - there was no rolling maul of ny note at all in evidence in Peth.
The problem is that Matfield is credited with things any other lock is capabale of doing - but with greater strength.   Ineffectiveness is ignored so the hype can go on.   Matfield is defnitely at 106 kgs  physical-deficient and ultimmately the team as a whole suffers as a result.   He is the lightest weight player in the Springbok forward pack  and it shows throughout games.  This must in fact be a unique situation - your lightest weight forward being a lock.
Matfild was poor in Perth and there is no indication that he will be better on Saturday.   His main attribute (tackling) - was weak and ineffective - and he missed far too many tackles.
