I have my doubts about the loosies and I would have preferred Kriel to be in the mix.   I think that Kitshoff should have been in the mix.  What Rudy Paige is doing there is the greatest mystery of all.

Exactly the team predicted by Sport 24 earlier in the week.

No big surprises on the bench either.

Ou Maaik, there were 3 scrumhalves in the initial squad. Nic Groom was then released to the A team. How on earth can you possibly be surprised by Rudy Paige's inclusion? Who did you think would be the scrumhalf on the bench?

Pity they didn't release the best rugby player in the country to Ackerman.
He would definitely have started.

Sorry - I am not surprised at Paige's inclusion.  I knew it would happen.  However, he has been atrocious in Super Rugby this year - hence my question.   However that is not the issue.  I think Ross Cronje is ten times the scrummie Paige is.

Round about now I reckon Jaco Kriel must be wondering which European club will offer him the best contract. What a joke!

Paige hasn't been as bad as you make out. We knew it was out of him and Faf so let's just be grateful AC chose the right one to start.

It's hard to be critical of ACs selections when we don't know what his exact quota targets are. I think he's done pretty well considering.

Go Bokke!

The players better use their opportunity - if they flop and are then selected there would be serious problems.   I think that the selection of Louw ahead of Kriel  is a huge mistake.

bluebok, AC clearly had to make a straight choice between Whiteley and Kriel for the bench. I reckon Kriel will still get some game time this series.

Poor that the in form players in Combrink and Jaco Kriel have not been rewarded.

Combrink ahead of Mvovo and Kriel ahead of average Louw would have made the side a really good one.

Kitshoff should have been on the bench.

Jantjies is clearly not 100% which is a big pity

Owen Meanie - jy kan maar kom saampraat op hierdie wonderlike kanaal van kampioene (of is dit nou sampioene? - jy weet mos dit is die soort van - keep them in the dark and feed them sh.it ... of dalk is dit die kanaal van skerpioene!).Oubaas Maaikie - ek sien jy sê:  "I am not surprised at Paige's inclusion.  I knew it would happen" - hoekom weet jy dit sou gebeur?- sodat die outjie 'n krater van homself voor 40000+ toeskouers kan maak? Hmm?

Blikkies - Coetzee originally picked three scrummies and sent one of them to the "A" team - ending up with only with two in the squad - so Paige was automatically the bench scrummie. .

Rooinek - if Paige was not atrocious in Super  Rugby the Bulls would not have dropped him to their bench.

OK, Mike, explanation accepted, but it still does not explain why Coetzee had to select the Bulls 2nd choice scrummie and their 1st choice, Piet van Zyl is left out (unless he carries an injury).

I hear what SAFFEX is saying, but we need to take cognisance of the constraints the coach and selectors are under regarding the threats and accusations made by politicians as well as the looming confrontation between supporters and the ANCYL should they be so stupid as to try and take on 50K rugby supporters.
As for the team, under the current circumstances not a bad team.  I would have swapped Faf and Page - simply because Elton and Faf are used to playing together.
Mike I do not know why you have an issue with Page, to my mind he is better than Groom and van Zyl.  All things being equal though Cronje would have been a better choice but his pigmentation arrangement is a bit out of tune.
Blikies AC has to dance on hot coals he does not have the freedom of choice we have sitting here in cyberspace. Both Groom and van Zyl also has this incorrect arrangement of pigmentation molecules (DNA).
The team is quite mobile and if we are lucky we will see a reverse of the last few year' "stamp kar" rugby.  We should play less of a rigid game and allow some of these talented players to do what they do best - play rugby.
34 - 17 Bokke!

Machiavelli

Jaco Kriel vs Louw does not apply in terms of colour. Kriel is far far better than Louw.

Had Jantjies started, which he should have if they are saying he is fit.....then Combrink could have started ahead of Mvovo on the wing.

I would have had Kitshoff on the bench ahead of Redelinghuis, with Nyakane as the sub tighthead given he can play both.

Saffex, I almost agree with you. I think Flow is in the team as a stop gap. AC will blood the youngsters from the bench. This team has a definite  "target" feel to it. I suspect Coetzee already knows that Kitshof is his preferred LH, but he wants to test Redelinhuis at TH. I suspect Kitsie will be in the match 23 for atleast one match this series. I'm sure Kriel and Combrink are in the same boat. This is totally ridiculous and wrong, but it's the hand Alistair was dealt. We better get used to it or start to do something about it....something more than complain or signing FB petitions.

Alister signed on the dotted line ... he knows the parameters of his contract ... to the letter ... he's agreed to all the terms.
You know why?
Because he believes in transformation. He supports this racist regime and it's quota enforced system.
If he was against it he would never have made himself available ... on principle ... so please don't make excuses for him. Don't try to make him out as innocent or that his hands are tied. They're not.
He wants transformation as bad as they do.
10 of the 23 are players of colour. As much as 6 of the 10 are undeserving quotas.
He's excluded the real talent of South Africa. Was that deliberate? Of course it was.
Allowing them time on the park would expose his talentless quota picks and there would be an outcry.
Marx makes way for one of the puny little dark skinned hookers. Neither are test material.
Kriel makes way for the useless Kolisi.
Both of these players are world class ... neither Marx nor Kriel get to show their wares at all. Not even with the A side. Coetzee knows very well that had they been selected to the bench that would have allowed us to compare apples with apples and that would have exposed his quota picks as puny little chumps.
That cannot be allowed.
So please ... wake up to the fact that your coach is a racist, in support of a racist regime.
He's not a pawn. He's an active and willing participant.

ALISTAIR IS ALL FOR QUOTAS. HE HAD THEM AT THE STORMERS AND HE HIMSLEF KNOWS HE IS A QUOTA APPOINTMENT BUT HAD NO INTENTION OF STEPPING ASIDE FOR AMERIT SELECTION.IF HE FAILS OF COURSE HE MAY DECIDE TO BLAME QUOTAS.
Lets see how what sort of plan they adopt.
