1. Beast

2. Bismaark

3. Coenie-

4. Eztebeth

5. Matfield- Still the best lineout forward and kick off catcher in the world. These are the primary functions for a number 5 lock. He has a decent tackle count, and his speed is probaby as fast as most locks. He does not add much grunt, but he never did.

6. Brussouw. A specialist fetcher is required and he is the best in SA. Flow is playing in another country, not sure what his form is like

7. Schalk Burger- High work rate, allrounder. Useful at the breakdown

8. Duane Vermuelen/Frans Steyn

9. Dupreez

10. Goosen

12. Jean- Still the best available at inside centre

13. Jaque Fourie- Excellant organiser of defence. His speed needs to be tested in an open game to see what these levels are.

14. Willie Le Roux

15. Mvovo/ Frans Steyn

11. Habana

It would be good to somehow get Frans Steyns boot on the field. Maybe throw him in at number 8 just to get his match winning long range kicking ability. He runs more like a forward than a backline player these days anway

Bench

Lood Dejaager/Flip van der merwe

Delande

Lambie/Flyhalf & fullback cover

Johan Sadie

Hendriks (Cheetas wing)

Kebble

Reinach

Fat Albert (Lock and loosie cover)

You don't think Taute was out of position and looked like a carthorse trying to cover the Landers chips? You don't think Goosen is a touch fragile and that Coenie has a medical problem? And you are confident this time will be different for Mvovo? Just asking.

On the Fury front I would say he has always been slow, particularly off the mark. When Jean broke at RWC11 he was left way behind....part of the reason Jean had to throw a long pass to Lambie. I doubt if he has gotten faster since then. He does understand centre play which puts him a mile ahead of JJ, but he is still a flawed candidate.

For the rest Jordaan is too feeble and De Jongh is not quite test class. Nor is Sadie really. I think it's a tragedy Jake hasn't tried to develop Andre Esterhuizen....106 kgs, fast and combatative....instead we have Sithole, who is provincial level.

-Taute's form has improved, but given how bad it was before, it is still not great. I only put him on the bench when I forgot about Lambie. He is no longer on the bench. Fullback is an area with little depth at the moment. SP Marais is crap.
Coenie may have a medical problem but he is still playing well. If he was wearing a neck brace and still playing well, I would select him.

- Goosen is fragile, but Lambie is on the bench to cover.
-Not sure what is happening with Andre Esterhuizen. He must have done something to piss of Jake White. The other plodder Hiemaar that gets selected him is not up to standard

As per normal your assessment is a joke in bad taste - do you actually knoe anything about rugby?
You are talking absolute rubbish about the Highlanders dribble kicks - there was no way that any full back in the world would have to be able to cover those.
And is Jordaan too feeble - because of one tackle he missed in 2012 - more than 2 years ago?   What a joke.
What about the team you would suggest - are yous till onto Fat Frans at flyghalf and fatter Treeby Alberts?

bettor positioning could of helped taute, but those dribble kicks were just the right place at the right time, or wrong place and wrong time from a taute point of view.

heres a possible team that meyer could pick,,,

1 gunthro, 2 bizzy, 3 jannie du plessis

4 bakkies, 5 v matfiled

6 burger, 7 f louw, 8 d vermeulen

9 f du preez, 10 m steyn

12 JDV, 13 j fourie

11 b habana, 15 z krichner, 14 jp pieterson

15 a strauss, 17 beast, 18 c oosthuizen, 19 lady elizabeth, 20 w alberts, 21 r pienaar, 22 p lambie, w le roux

LMFAO,

whats crazy about this team is, its a very real possibility,

There is no way a fullback could have covered those kicks? That's what fullbacks do....but granted they have to be able to do the 100 metres in under 11.5 seconds...not the case with fattie Taute.

However, I will make your life easoer by suggesting the team I think should take the field:-

1  Mtawarire2  Bismarck3  Malherbe  *14  Flip van der merwe *25  Etzebeth6  Louw7  Burger *38  Vermeulen9  Du Preez  *410  Goosen11  Habana12  De Villiers13  De Allende *514  Le Roux15  Mvovo  *616  Strauss17  Coenie  *118  Nyakane19  De Jager20  Du Plesis  *321  Reinach22  Lambie23  Serfontin *7
*1  I think it is a close call between Coenie and Frans Malherbe for the tight head position - whomsoever is selected to start the other one will be on the bench.   I worry about Coenie's injury and think for that reason he may be on the bench in future.
*2  I do not think that line out jumping and an occassonal collection of a kick-in makes up for the lack of other contributions in tight 5 play.   I think it wuld be a serious mistake to select Matfield in any position - he is weak in mauls and scrumming.  A player to watch out for in future is Willemse.
*3   I am worried about Burger's ability to last a season.  He came back - play two games and then went off with an injury problem.  I like his style of play.  The other issue is with Jacques du Plessis - he is more a lock than a loosie.   The 7 that come nearest to Burger in approach and performance is Labuschagne - but he also had injury problems this year.  If Burger gets injured again - I would rather go with Labuschagne and put Du Plessis on the bench or vice versa - depending on whom is the opposing team.
*4  Du Preez is one player I worry about - he is not the player he used to be before departure for Japan - he slowed down considerably - a "disease" that all SA players playing in Japan suffers from.  He came back - was very good in the open Argentinian test when he came from the bench - but for the other tests he was blowing hot and cold.   If he slowed down any further - he should not be considered.
*5   Fourie is far too slow for an outside center - and will be run around by faster players - like happened in the case of Davies in the Welsh test.  He brings nothing to attacking play and we cannot have a 13 only for the purpose of defense.
*6   Francois Steyn cannot be considered in any position - he was poor at flyhalf and his center performances this year is way under par.  His main problem is his speed which means he is poor in defense and at full back a more speedy player is required.
*7   I still think that Serfontein should be on the bench for the Springboks - he is not a ball crash player - like the Bulls is trying to turn him into.  The alternative covers could be Benjamin or Jordaan.  Pietersen's l ack of speed is a serious problem as well
I am not in favour of suicide rugby - as Seb is calling it.  The inclusion of players like Steyn  and Fourie in any backline is a killer of backline play -- they bring nothing in attack to the game.

Isn't that nice SB, Clever has just made your life easier by dropping Fury for De Allende, Coenie for Malherbe and Brussouw  for Louw....for the rest there is no change, but he has written a nice book for you to read.

Waaaaaahaha....Sapp is still picking Stepfontein and JJ. He must have missed  how Hendricks handed off Steppie and then gassed him....and JJ was no sooner on than Benjamin ran straight through him.

In essence I have really one thing I want to question you on and that is the inclusion of Steyn.   What is he to cover - definitely not flyhalf - he flopped there - he failed miserably at center and he is not speedy enough to be at full back.   Would not have him anywhere near the team.

Well Moz you will find that every centre misses a tackle......look no further than your hero de Jongh who missed 3 and only made one.

Damn right I am picking Serfontein as he is by far our best 12......he showed that with his lovely break.......I take it you conveniently missed that lovely break?

Benjamin did not run through JJ and you will find JJ got back and made the tackle.....check the stats

Yep Dave. That "lovely break" came because he was missed by the minor irritant Goosen. Two wrong players can't make a right one!!!!!

And Benjamin totally ran through JJ and he only got back to tackle because Benjamin was impeded by another player....much like last year when de Jongh went through him.

This idea that Goosen, Steppie and JJ could form a core of players to stand up against the world's best is barking madness.

Sorry you asked?

Would this be the Serfontein that made team of the week......Geez Moz you are clueless.
Oh so now Goosen has defenisve issues and Serfontein only made the break because Goosen missed him.......what a joke..............he made a great break with a step

Rubbish, Benjamin did not run through JJ at all and that is a FACT......JJ caught him up with ease within seconds

As for Goosen, Serfontein and JJ.......that is 100 times better than the joke that is Morne, Jean and Fourie............now that is a laughable combo

No way in hell - Adriaanse is an average tighthead, not even a loosehead......he was bloody poor for the Sharks this weekend.

I used to think he was at best a solid player but have changed my mind, he is poor - very poor skills around the park.

Adriaanse makes his tackles unlike the usless Jannie Du Plessis.

I are you idiotic?  Looks like you want the 2007 team back and that is real Bullshit 7 years later - only a bloody fool would come up with that one.  Botha was poor in the tests he played in last year - Matfiekld is shit poor in tight phases of the game.  Only Burger is still of any value - but he is injury prone and unlikely to last the distance.
Add to that the desperately poor Francois Steyn and the flyhalf rejected by Stade Francais as an acceptable performing flyhalf and we have a nice mix of useless Mozart choices.
But then you are a rugby illiterate with no understanding of the game - so bullshit flow freely from you.

OOM I know of a used Renault that used to belong to RooiAAS. He can no longer afford the petrol so it's on the market. It's blue, with a blue interior.....although granted the paint doesn't cover the whole car. There is a tennis ball under the clutch to prevent it from falling to the floor, but the gearshift has a nice knob, which the previous owner talks about a lot. There are a few holes in the wheel wells, the tyres don't match and the mileage is a modest 470000 ks. It's available for R273500....and as an additional gift you get a clod of dirt, certified to be the one dislodged when Morne kicked the goal which beat the Lions....any interest?

Sorry - Mozart - I drive  Mercedes and its in fine condition.
I like the description of the Renault - it fits some of the players you prefer  like a glove.
The Blue interior in poor condition :  Gurthro Steenkamp, Bakkies Botha and Victor Matfield
The clutch :   Jaqcue Fourie and Juan de Jongh
The speedometer reading   :    Francois Steyn and Morne Steyn -way to slow to increase the speedo reading b y more than 10 kilometers over the next month.
Keep it up - you are a real joke.
