Springbok team to face Italy in Gqeberha:

15 Willie le Roux (Vodacom Bulls) – 99 caps, 75 pts (15t)

14 Edwill van der Merwe (Hollywoodbets Sharks) – 1 cap, 5 pts (1t)

13 Canan Moodie (Vodacom Bulls) - 12 caps, 25 pts (5t)

12 Andre Esterhuizen (Hollywoodbets Sharks) - 19 caps, 0 pts

11 Makazole Mapimpi (Hollywoodbets Sharks) - 46 caps, 160 points (32t)

10 Manie Libbok (DHL Stormers) - 19 caps, 98 pts (1t, 30c, 11p)

9 Grant Williams (Hollywoodbets Sharks) - 17 caps, 20 pts (4t)

8 Jasper Wiese (Urayasu D-Rocks) - 35 caps, 10 pts (2t)

7 Pieter-Steph du Toit (Toyota Verblitz) - 86 caps, 60 pts (8t)

6 Marco van Staden (Vodacom Bulls) - 26 caps, 20 pts (4t)

5 Ruan Nortje (Vodacom Bulls) - 6 caps, 0 pts

4 Salmaan Moerat (captain, DHL Stormers) - 10 caps, 0 pts

3 Wilco Louw (Vodacom Bulls) - 17 caps, 0 pts

2 Malcolm Marx (Kubota Spears) - 77 caps, 110 pts (22t)

1 Thomas du Toit (Bath) - 23 caps, 5 pts (1t)

Replacements:

16 Jan-Hendrik Wessels (Vodacom Bulls) - 4 caps, 5 pts (1t)

17 Ox Nche (Hollywoodbets Sharks) - 40 caps, 0 pts

18 Asenathi Ntlabakanye (Lions) - uncapped

19 Cobus Wiese (Vodacom Bulls) – uncapped

20 Evan Roos (DHL Stormers) - 7 caps, 0 pts

21 Cobus Reinach (DHL Stormers) - 39 caps, 70 pts (14t)

22 Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (DHL Stormers) - 8 caps, 52 points (14c, 8p)

23 Ethan Hooker (Hollywoodbets Sharks) – uncapped

The above backline aims at losing the match - with brainless Esterhuizen at center and shit kicks by Willie the ball wll never reach the wings. In defence the combination of Libbok and Esterhuizen is a sieve and that happened in the past as well.

Up front the same shit applies. The team is similar to what happened in the first RC test against Argentina last year when a Springboks B-team lost the away match in the RC and lost their no one ranking in the World. Not much hope for that lot to really play Springbok Rugby, Lets be frank - the only real Springbok in the forwards are Du Toit and Marx - the rest range from supershit to shit.

Yep, another completely different team.

I'm beginning to wish the ABs absolutely thrash the Boks when we go there.

That lock pairing does not inspire me

Good to see Cobus Wiese and Hooker being capped

Moerat has not done much to prove he is of international standard. Given that he is not a first-choice starter, it does not seem like a good idea to give him the captaincy armband. It certainly bears of strategic transformation objectives.

I wonder if Ethan Hooker is covering a fixed position, or if he is included as a utility back to replace who ever is not playing well. Perhaps Moodie will shift to wing or be substituted. Or if he will replace Edwill.

What is scary about Moerat as captain is that it could indicate he will take over from Kolisi given Eben and Kolisi will probably retire at a similar time

If that is the case then we won’t have our best 4 starting at test level

I dont mind Moerat, he has been good of late for the Stormers but he is by no means the next best 4 in SA after Eben

I prefer him to the likes of Mostert, Orie and Nortje

SB

Hooker is there to replace Willie. Thw katter wwas promised a 100 caps by Erasmus and that promised is now full-filled and I do not expect him to be in the WC Squad. He is likely to reain in the supporting staff tto taight them how to be trained coaches..

Moerat, at lock and also the Captain what a poor selection.

Wasted Springbok jersey once more.

Erasmus must be sucking up and hoping for a political appointment or ambassador position under the ANC.

Rassie has not rated the defence of Moodie at 13, hence why he has not gotten more games here.

It will be interesting to see if Ethan Hooker can adapt to the Rassie defensive system.

None of us really know how the dice is going to roll......I'm adopting a wait and see approach although I understand frustrations with selections that's going to be cut from the RWC.

Moerat as captain is another....why?

Moerat is the number one DEI hire and to be captain on top is another massive insult. Talk about failing up. At least with Kolisi he had to endure some setbacks and disappointment as some coaches simply said he wasn't good enough. Rassie seem to swaddle some useless players and to protective of them..

What has Moerat done all season or when he played for the boks over the past 2 seasons?

It is an insult to actual players.

Wiese should have started ahead of him. He has been the form lock

They only part I like about this team is the front row. Of course Ox is up there and would normally be my starter but I guess against this game.

I'm disappointed as we don't see the next gen getting to play as a team. This is also now 2 games that Fassi is sitting out. Is he injured?

Hopefully Italy won't ambush us.

I guess Willie had to get his 100 cap, but please, can this be the end now of these old players and start investing in younger players or more deserving. Time ja running out

I do hope that this is now the end of Willie. The guy has been around long enough. Not sure we can afford to waste caps when we have the likes of Fassi and Willemse waiting in the winds.

Rassie now need to narrow down his team. There are a lot of fringe players around now. Quan Horn is probably our 4th choice but he has been capped and if we have a break down in our back 3 then he knows it will be his chance, but is another year wasted on players that shouldn't be there
