Springboks do have talent

I don't think our players are the problem. Even players that have been good historically are hopeless under Coetzee! Habana, Strauss, Etzebeth, Le Roux have all been poor, yes some of them are getting on a bit, but they didn't become shart players overnight. If experienced world class players are unable to perform under the current administration, what hope is there for the new guys? Seriously, watch the games of the outgoing tour, it is tactical and organisational issues that are causing the Bok failures. Sure, individual errors are there as well , but poorly prepared players that are down on confidence WILL perform badly. 
A properly drilled team, even one selected out of the current crop of players, will be competitive against the top 3 teams in the world. We may not be able to beat NZ or England with our current squad, but we should be able to run them close. Our problem is not talent, it is preparedness! Not only Coetzee, but the entire coaching unit needs to be dismantled. 

 I believe the players lack self belief and that their confidence has been shattered. Another problem is the one of a leadership group, there is none, Strauss is a pap captain, I don't think he inspires anyone, besides the players don't really respect him so there's no-one the players can turn to for guidance. Hard to pick a captain out of that lot.

Exactly my point DA! This may not be the most talented generation of Springboks we have ever had, but we still have at least enough talent to be competitive! Our problems lie elsewhere. As Denny has pointed out, on field leadership is an issue, but still not as much of an issue as a poorly coached team. And anyway, who selects the captain, you got it, the coach. 
I am not one to pick on coaches, but our problems are not with the individual players, they are with fundamentals of the team.  

 No if's or but's the buck stops with Coetzee. You cut your cloth to the material in hand and deal with it.......Coetzee, nice enough fella is like I've said, delusional and clueless. That being the coach, why the expectation from the players?!

 It is not the lack of talent that is the problem. It is the lack of skills that is the problem.

Skills can be taught Cera, and that is another debate, because they should be taught from the bottom up . We have been competitive all along even with our limited skills, but now we have an incompetent coaching team thrown into the mix, which has exposed our lack of skills and any other weaknesses exponentially. 

 Of course skills can be taught. The question is when and by whom? When they arrive at national level by the National coach? 
It seems like that is what many of the bright sparks seem to believe. 

 The give away is that players who look so competent when playing for the Lions against very strong Super rugby sides look pretty clueless when playing for the BOKS.ANOTHER POINT IS THAT A FEW DUDS PLAYING AT TEST LEVEL IS FATAL.

As I said C, that is 100% true, and I don't have the answer regarding skills. It is an area in which we are seriously lacking, but my big problem right now is that what little skill and flair our players do have, is being coached out of them by our national coach. . 

 The Lions match any other Super 18 side regarding skills. Imagine is major unions like the Bulls Stormers and Sharks with all their cash decided to get with it.The Lions had nothing. Very small crowds very little money and look what was achieved.
The problem is sheer incompetence IN A VARIETY OF WAYS and racial agendas it IS NOT PLAYER TALENT.

Coetzee coaching our 2008 Boks would probably have got by....this group has never known success at S15 level or Age Group rugby, apart from those who featured in our home win. There are not many great players out there....nothing like our traditional pool. Just look at the loosie scenario for example. Still I agree with decent coaching and a clear plan we should still be number 2. The only time we won a big game this year was when Morne played. Im not making the argument that should be the future, but the clarity of the game plan helped the guys focus. We actually need 3 things.....a coach, a game plan that suits and better selections that fit the game plan. Trying to play a tight game against NZ with Whiteley at number 8 is the sort of folly that did us in.
