I said the score would be 24-12 in favour of the Wallabies.   The Springboks did slightly better by scoring a try - which I did not forsee in my forecast - so I remain correct in my overall reding of the game.   Lets face facts - we do not have a backline that can show anything in attack.

My rating of the players are as follows:-

15  -   Was never put under pressure - performed well     -    6

14  -    Hougaard                                                               -     6

13  -    De Villiers                                                               -     5,5

12  -   Steyn                                                                      -      5

11 -    Habana                                                                  -      6

10 -    Morne Steyn                                                          -      5

  9 -    Pienaar                                                                 -       6

  8  -   Vermeulen                                                             -      5,5

  7  -   Alberts                                                                   -      5.5

  6  -   Coetzee                                                                 -     5,5

  5  -   Kruger                                                                   -     4,5

  4  -   Etzebeth                                                                -     6

  3.  -  Du Plessis                                                             -      4

  2  -  Strauss                                                                  -       5

  1  -   Beast                                                                    -       2

Replacements:-

Very little actual game time - so no reliable rating possible.   However, Mvovo is a joke in bad taste - very, very poor.   Possible raring 1 out of 10.   Why was he brought on?

Lets face facts - The forwards - bar Beast - did well enough to keep us in the game.   However, we were not really ever an obvious danger when it comes to backline.   Bad news.   Morne was better with a better service - but missed another crucial penalty, when he is under pressure he is sure to fail.     Francois Steyn was poor in the first half and not effective in defence.   He kicked one penalty - but for the rest he was weak.   Lucky to be getting a 5.

If I was Meyer - I would make some changes in the game against the All Blacks - but afterwards he should actually bring in some fresh faces into the squad.

Etsebeth was the only one on the pitch that did not forget his balls in the lockers. At least a 7 and Jannie was no better than Beast. Habana and Hougie at least 6.5 to 7 as well.

Meyer must make changes to this team or the boks can pack up and come home. Very poor from beast to get a yellow card!!

Francios Steyn should really pull up his socks or go play rubgy in Japan.

The only player that really stood out was Pienaar, but he is still to slow at the off break points.

Don't get me started on Mvovo!!! If he do not know by now that the ball is not round then he should not be in the team. What was Meyer thinking brining Habana off?

Alberts is a very good rugby player, but as we all know you are nothing without the ball in hand.

For me the biggest problem have been the tight five. the are to easily bossed around in the tight exchanges and the scrum didn't cover us in glory either. Flip Flop and Kruger should simply not be in the team. Morne for me had another horror game and they way play is being dictated are way to predictable.

The boks should have burried the wobblies and never allowed them to get in the game. I can't really rate vermeulen as it is only his 2nd game back and to ask to play in a test match after 4 months out injured is just plain crazy. Flouw looked good when came on. I really think that Meyer should lesson his dependency on bulls players.

I like the spark that Lambie and Goosen brought onto the field. the boks started to run some better angles and actually got over the advantage line.

for me the next team should be

1 Beast

2 Liebenberg

3 Cilliers (But scrummeger than Jannie)

4 Alberts (Estebetch might get cited and seem to be struggling a bit)

5 Bekker

6 Flouw

7 Coetzee

8 Vermeulen

9 Pienaar

10 Goosen

11 Hougaard

12 Steyn

13 De Villers

14 Habana if fit

15 Lambie

I'm very tempted to drop both Steyns but Frans looked better the minute Goose  got on

We are bit light on the wings with Habana going off with the injury. Mvovo just blew his last couple of games and were really poor in defence.

Kingcorn

Agree with you insofar as potential changes are concerned for next week - but we do need a substantial change in the squad once they get back to SA.   ]

If Havana cannot play - they better fly out another wing to replace him - thy dare not play Mvovo again.   The question remaoins who?

I do not think Morne should play againt the All Blacks and Goosen is a much better proposition.  Matter of fact I also have problems with the props of the Boks - Beast was very, very bad today.

The issue is ther is need for a major replacement programme iro the Spruingbok squad.   I would if I was Meyer forget about the Championship and start replacing those players who is past their sell-by date    Forget about the has beens  mentioned in another posting of mine.

We require 2 x props, 2 x locks from somwhere to replace the existing guys asap.

Beast, Jannie, Bekker, Flip Flop, Kruger are not international standard players at this stage.

Liebenberg might be good in the Cape but he is useless elsewhere.

Morne never has been , never will be a game changing fly-half so he has to go....Goosen is ready to assume the role for SA.

Jean is about three years past his best.

Mvovo has to be dropped and he should never ever wear the Green and Gold again.

Zane is overated and should be replaced by Lambie.

The backline coach must be fired asap and replaced with a proper coach who has earned his stripes.

All in all a shocking effort and most disappointing turn of events.

Meyer need s" boere klap" to bring him round to understand we demand and expect the best not the rest. .
