Pieter-Steph du Toit

Half 1

00:00 - S7 in position as jumper with S1 primary lifter. Ball doesn't go his way, moves to the left to support S5 who jumps but misses kick. S7 moves back and tracks loose ball. S15 knock-on. Scrum Georgia.

01:35 - G.Scrum: Bok front row collapse, penalty Georgia. S3 penalised.

03:50 - S.L/O: S4 jumper.

03:59 - S6 carries into contact on first phase. S9 to S7 in POD of S5.S4.S7 with S10 and S15 outside POD. G12 leans lateral going to ground as he grabs S7 around upper legs; S7 gets well behind him. S4 and S5 are very quickly over the top to clean ruck.

04:12 - Boks setup to move the ball the opposite direction. A familiar shape here with S3.S4.S5 in a POD outside S9 with S10 the playmaker behind; outside and a little deeper S1.S2.S7 with S15 the playmaker in-behind. As S10 receives ball from S4 in POD1, S7 drops back, a new 3 man line emerges with S10.S1.S2, S10 carrier. S15 is now playmaker behind this line, connecting S7 and S11 in a shallow flat 2-,man line outside him. S10 to S15 who engages the edge defender, S15 to S7 in space. G15 covers across, but S7 to S11 in space with a short ball. Bok try.

05:23 - Georgia restart: S5 jumper, catches ball. S7 drops back and tracks opposition in supportive movement. Maul goes to ground.

05:49 - S7 is engaged by G runner, is bowled backwards; Georgia quick clean ball.

07:20 - S.L/O: S5 jumper at the back. S7 drives in maul.

08:44 - B.L/O: S4 jumper at front. S7 attempts drive in maul, but Boks held in place as they collapse towards touchline, S7 over top of pile.

09:06 - S9 to POD(S6.S7.S8). S6 gets ball and gets over gainline. S7 first cleaner at ruck. S8 adds leverage to get Georgian off ball.

09:19 - Boks near touchline, reverse direction. S9 to POD(S8.S7.S6). S7 meets quick rush, gets a few lateral inches before going to ground slowly. S6-S8 secure possession, S9 quickly out to the right again.

12:02 - S.L/O: Stodgy Bok possession going nowhere from maul. S7 hovers, guarding area around fringe, before ref blows whistle, he attempts to join pool of bodies.

13:22 - S.Scrum. S8 breaks off base getting well over gainline. S9 clumsily fumbles possession and Boks now scrambling. S15 secures possession and gets Boks forward, twisting through defence. S7 present, guards uncontested ruck.

13:33 - S9 to S12. S8.S7.S6 join S12, but Georia drive them backwards in contact, stripping S12 of possession.

14:52 - G.L/O: Quick ball out, S7 rushes, but G kick in-behind defence. S7 slow getting back.

15:08 - S9 to POD(S1.S2.S7). S2 carrier. S7 attempts to drive S2 forward, but go to ground immediately. S7 not getting any leverage cleaning, S1 cleans powerfully.

15:46 - S7 attempts to secure loose ball as ref blows whistle for G.Pen.

16:58 - G.12 into S6. S7 covers hustle channel. S7 reactively watching Georgia, determining whether to contest ruck or move out. Takes up pillar position at ruck, and rushes immediatelt out, leaving a gaping hole for G9 to attack. G9 attempts pass behind S7's back, which hits his right arm and bounces on Bok side of play. S8 gathers, quick short ball to S14. G.Pen.

23:21 - S7 takes up guard position at ruck after G.L/O. S2 tackles G runner, S7 initially moves in to tackle, then shifts out in guard position. Rushes at his direct opposite, but ball moves to player outside that G attacker. S7 penalised for offside.

25:16 - S7 rushes upfield after Bok restart. S7 scrambles laterally to grab G runner by legs as S8 knocks his upper body to the ground. S7 up on his feet, attempts countrer-ruck; no effect.

25:46 - Boks loosely setup for attack to the left from tramlines. Flat POD(S5.S1.S3) with S15 playmaker behind, S7 with S10 behind in two-man unit connecting staggered three man group outside. S5 receiver short off S9. S1-S3 clean. S9 off the deck to S7. S10 directs him to take the contact. S7 targets outside shoulder of G3, turns in contact, tries to push his way forward as he leans back into defenders. Movement is slow; S4 knocks him to ground, and clears away Georgians. Boks get it out quickly to S10 from S9. Georgian defence reads the play as they rush up and cut off 12 and Boks lose possession.

27:16 - S.Scrum. Third phase to the the right: S7 with S10 driving him forward. Georgians stop them in their tracks. Boks secure slow possession. S10-S11 cleaners.

28:50 - S.Scrum: S9 to S10, he takes contact near touchline through blindside break. S7 quickly over top top secure possession as secondary cleaner.

29:28 - Boks attack the right side of field, then bring it back to the left where S7 is rushing out wide to support S15, who chips over the top, directly out of play.

31:51 - S.L/O: S7 at back, joins maul. Maul makes a little ground before collapsing.

32:49 - S.L/O: Boks try same maul. S7 in maul. They make less ground, but hold firm before S2 peels off back and gets around fringe. S7 among maul participants who clean ruck.

33:35 - S.L/O: Boks maul again. S7 in maul.

34:30 - S.L/O: Boks maul. S7 now on blindside of maul.

36:24 - S7 tracks back to support S15 who fields restart. Guards ruck.

38:29 - S5 fields restart. S7 tracks back, takes up pillar position on openside of ruck.

38:47 - S9 to S10. He shapes for a kick, then looks right before long flat pass to S15. S15 miss pass (S3) to S7. S7 runs right into outside shoulder of G13, who attempts to grab him shoulder height, but falls off the tackle. G12 also goes around shoulder height and slips tackle. S7 breaks free, draws G8, passes short to S9, but S9 mistimes his run - he is far too ahead of S7 and the move breaks down.

39:01 - Frantic play now, as Georgia secure loose ball. G12 takes it forward, S7 dives to his left to grab G12 around left ankle, bringing him to ground. G12 breaks out and bursts through Bok defence.

40:03 - G.L/O: Georgia overthrow lineout. S2 misses loose ball. S7 falls to ground missing tackle.

40:14 - S7 supports S6 on defence. They hold up runner, trying to strip ball. After ball goes to ground. S7 up on his feet and guarding the openside fringe.

NOTES

Boks look very organised in the intial build-up of attack, but lack composure and accuracy once they are around the edge of the defence. Skills breakdown here. The attack is flatter and more fluid than we have seen for quite some time.

Kolisi beat 2 tackles, Kwagga beat 4 tackles, Dud amazingly beat 2 tackles.

Kolisi made 6 tackles and missed none, Kwagga made 7 tackles and missed none, Dud Toit made 8 tackles and missed 2.

Kolisi conceded 1 penalty, Kwagga conceded none, Dud conceded 1

Not one of our loosies managed to offload the ball.

……

But Dud Toit is a ‘9’.

As [per normal - The Kindergarten Imbecile and Mozart missede most of what happened in  matches..    Look at the first try scored by the Spring boks.  The key player in that try was Du Toit who drew in two defenders and off-loaded the ball to  the try scorer who scored in the corner..   The rest of the AO jargon is self-impression of what happened - but he left out the fact that Steyn was utterly useless in attack and was even stripped of the ball by a Georgian player and gave away 3 penalties as well.    Aside from that he made only three tackles and lost possession twice - one as mentioned.    He carried the ball 7 times for a 13 meter gain.

Another flop of the two rugby idiots  are that Du Toit assisted in the scoring of the first try carried the ball 12 times for a total gain of 55 meters .

So why should we believe anything those two BSters come up with.

The first try was very good. However, the success of that attack hinged entirely on the morphing of the second POD to get the Boks outside the edge of the defence. Steph had only a little to do with that. His role was to be on the outside of POD2 and drop back, then advance forward, into free space. From here all he had to do was pass short to Fassi. Fassi still had a bit of work to do here as the cover was very close to stopping him. You overstate the role of Steph in that try. The real genius was Willie who had to be absolutely perfect in attacking the edge defender, and Fassi had to use every millimeter of space to get the try. Of the Steph carries, there were two impactful carries, and of those only one was a game impacting move: The attack in space, out wide when Pollard threw the miss pass. He got between both Georgian centres and for whatever reason both tried to grab him shoulder height, which is a very weak body position. As it was he got through them and attempted a short ball to Reinach who was too far ahead of him, offside. So overall, as a cleaner, defender, attacker etc, Steph wasn't very impactful in this game.

I heard that Frans was awful, and he was very, very quiet in the first 20, but made more meaningful contributions in the final portion of the first half than Steph made all game.

Reinach wasn't perfect, but this was by far his best Bok test. His boot not tested much, but passing was the best I have ever seen it. Wasn't impressed with Herschell in the second half.

Kolisi made some impactful cleans. He was stronger than Steph in contact, which surprised me. Not a visibly significant game, but one that stands out when you analyse play. Kwagga was the strongest of the three by far, with excellent skills and spacial awareness.

Even a regulation pass by Dud Toit is rated a major accomplishment..hype.

If anybody bar Du Toit made the pass after creating space for the recipient - you would rave about it.   Petty hatred is your only norm to criticize players irrespective of how they perform.     .

This is what you don't get you Dummkopf: Willie created the space for the Boks to have a 2v1. That was the key ingredient in the attack. Steph had a defender who had two decisions: Go for Steph and leave Fassi, or go for Fassi and allow Steph to run into acres of free space. All Steph had to do was draw and pass. Willie made it all so easy.

Listen - In have had enough of BS spreading for the day - and what i read about above as to what Du Tooit contributed were utter BS as per normal.   The first sentence was enough  to start with.   Du Toit was nowhere near the  ball when Mostert buggered  up the kick-in - why even mention him?    The whole saga was based on deceptive description what actually happened.   It just is the same BS the Kindergarten Imbecile has been spreading for years now.

Just the barebone facts. And to think, the plastics thought this was a victory for Steph. As usual, not quite so. I laugh.

AO' take on the game reminds me a bit of old Snor's way of seeing rugby. Hahaha.

Actually, that sounds like one of your faux philosophical offings Chabal. I'm a Bill Belichick kind of guy: Call a spade a spade. Simple and done. Emotional types can't cope with it; you're quite emotional.
