Springboks wing Raymond Rhule dropped despite coach Allister Coetzee's comments; Rugby Stuff

A day after Springboks coach Allister Coetzee said he wouldn't "chuck him away" after one bad performance, under-fire winger Raymond Rhule has been dropped for Sunday's clash against the Wallabies.

 

Rhule will rejoin his Cheetahs team-mates and is available for Pro 14 selection after South Africa cut three players from their squad for Sunday morning's (NZ time) Rugby Championship test against Australia.

 

The 24-year-old has paid the price after copping heavy criticism for missing nine tackles in a 57-0 mauling against New Zealand.

 

But his axing comes as a surprise after Coetzee launched a strong defence of Rhule on Tuesday, saying people had forgotten how good he was against Australia in their draw earlier this month and that he would persist with him.

 

 

Coetzee has also sent forward Dan du Preez and winger S'busiso Nkosi back to the Sharks for Currie Cup duty.

 

The Springboks are due to name their full team on Thursday.

 

Backline coach Franco Smith said they cannot afford to be wasteful in possession against the Wallabies, who are hunting their first win in Africa since 2011.

 

"To turn it around, we have to ensure we are a factor with ball in hand," said Smith.

 

"We have to re-establish our general shape on attack, and to give ourselves the best chances to score by looking after possession, and then we need to convert our opportunities with that try-scoring mentality."

 Well that should put a smile of a few faces on the forum. I expect we will now hear an announcement that Houguaard has been selected for the wing spot.

 I have said it before and will say again, Raymond Mule is a defensive liability

Re-establish our shape he says...really?? Wait on....when was it established, BS....there's never been shape in the Bok backline, not that I know of.....perhaps before re-admission but not since. I've been lamenting a lack of shape for months  and now the fool Franco speaks like it's always been there.....dear me.

Franco has masterminded the Cheetahs, perhaps he should have gone back to his province with Rhule. One would surmise that the reaction Coetzee got to his Rhule defence persuaded him to punt. What a leader.....let's tackle the real problem and get a head coach.

The lingering question is how long are we to suffer another Pretender.

It is clear that there was severe pressure on Coetzee to drop Rhule from the squad and  in his case he would be left with the Cheetahs and not recalled later on.   
Nkosi has also been released by Coetzee - which means that the wing selection for Saturday will be Leyds and Skosan,   Both are midgets and even though Skosan was better than Rhule - he is still a poor selection.   Will Leyds be any better on defense?   I doubt it very much.
This kind of BS must stop asap and the problem remains the head coach - not attack his subordinates,   The supporting coaches needs to work with what is selected and wh en that selection is made they have to try and shape up the players into something usable,    Can they turn sh!t into butter?      

See ... I told you that Nkosi would not get a run. It's all part of Tottie's carefully structured plan to hide the quota.

Same goes for Wilco Louw. He's just too good a tighthead. Cheeseburger Nyakane would look poor in comparison and Beast would struggle to keep up after 10 minutes.

Unfortunately we only have so many good players of colour. The majority of them are like Rhule and Paige ... Trevor and Cassiem ... Jantjies and Skosan. Bringing in one top class player like Nkosi would expose them all and present Tottie with a problem.

Yes ... I do agree that Tottie is a complete m0r0n ... but he's also a racist on a mission.

 Cheese Hamburger Nyakane would look poor in comparison and Beast would struggle to keep up after 10 minutes.

 We need better outside backs, we have them but because they don't fit in with transformation, they are deliberately over looked. We have the size and experience

but then Coetzee looses 2 more players of colour in his squad. 
I do like Nkosi, but it think it is to soon to rush him in. Need a couple of more seasons and probably will have his chance next year to make his mark on Super Rugby, especially now that they have sorted out the comp. We should be able to see him play against the best NZ and Australia has to offer. 
I'm also holding out for Senatla, 
Imagine having those 2 wingers, well seasoned and street smart that can tear defences to shreds. Chuck in Le Roux l to break the line and get these guys going and we are on to a winner. 
I'm not jumping on the Gelant band wagging, he had a poor season in super rugby, but Mitch seems to rate him. Lets see what he can do next year. 
These are all promising players, but they need to earn their way, not just chucked in because they have potential rather than credit.

 I'm not against Rhule's dropping and it's an improvement but little patch ups are quite absurd...frankly I sincerely believe that AC does not have a foggiest clue to what he's doing...have a sneaking suspicion that 10 man rugby (without a constant kicker) will be reverted to and /or a tightened game. Australia are not the same slick and creative innovators as NZ but have a better attack than the present Boks could leak a few tries and if the Ozzies find a few gaps they might win...it's not that they are bad but we are like lost farts in a thunderstorm with leadership issues and game plans.

The Boks will be smarting and on the warpath but lack of cohesion and direction will cost us....Oz by 10-12 points.

That is what is hidden. The selection staff must make with a very limited pool as there are not many non white professional players in SA.

This player, who is just another quota player in the making, is not given a run to avoid exposing him.

Once he is burst, there are fewer and fewer candidates.

SA must conceal at all costs that in 25 years, they were unable to train one decent non white players. The few who could run a make believe game are spared and managed carefully.

So not a single one.

No new routine is required: the depiction of how things are is enough.

Bryan Habana is arguably the best SA player in the professional era. He would have walked into the world XV for much of his career

 Seems to me the poor buggers get tossed in the deep end and without so much as a set of water wings eh ? There seems to be nothing like the ABs setup where even guys who would walk in to any other team are often taken on tour as part of the wider training group first, then gradually introduced into the team setup before getting a run on in a test.Just grab 'em chuck ' em in and hope for the best seems to be Coetzes way.

Then again. How deep is the deep end? Theoretically he was thrown in at the deep end but in reality, according to his CV and SARU, he is a deep sea diver.
