spXV form cnference teams,,,,
Sasu
Struass ahead of Du Plessis - have you gone dilly? Bresser - no way is he the best. Morne Steyn of Grant - sorry I do not agree at all. J Potgeiter - dilly again - that one really is useless. Taute - has been injured and Mozart will have a fit - but Saffex will applaud you on that one. I prefer Engelbrecht in that case. Aplon ahead of JP Pietersen - just not on. Lambie unfortunately injured - but definitely better than Joe Pietersen. Mc Cleod - Duvenhage is a better scummie than him.
Not wanting to be critical - but the team you mentioned are indeed problematic.
Sasue is that Sa team of yours a serious pick or a wind up?
You did get Conie right which most would have got wrong. WP Nel is an interesting inclusion as he has played well but been ignored. Cant believe he is not better than Kruger.
Daniels and Potgieter before Alberts and Vermeulen!!! Bressler before Bekker!! Stauss is a good hooker but before Bissie!!! JP left out!!! Lets leave it there.
Even the NZ conferecne is wrong. Taylor far better form than Smith, Savea far better form than Gear. Not worth going on further about this
Bok-Bef$k it will be interesting to see if the abs hang onto older players a tad too long.
We also have to be careful re our timing. Cant rush youngsters and cant hang onto older guys too long. From our side its Jean in the immediate firing line age wise but come to think of it who else. Who else is over 30? I am thinking of a Bok side for 2013. Habana is under 30 an is still playing good rugby.
@clevermike and beeno1,
nah no wind up boys, just my opinion of who were the form players in the sth afrcn conference remeber international performances had no bearing on my selections, but i will explain my line of thought with those names u guys mentioned.
bismarck was not his dominating self at the beginning of the season, he started to find his groove midway thorugh the season and now hes nearly back to his best, but adriann strauss has not played a bad or below average game all year, none that i can immediately recollect anyway.
my lock selection was a screw up, it was always meant to be bekker and has since been corrected, (thank u admin and edit post option). i was thinking about that sharks/stormers game when bressler and those kick off takes he did with beast when hes upside down and bekker who was one of the first guys on the scene helped to make sure he was lowered down safely. ive always liked and rated bekker as a player, but that act of good will really put the fuzzy feeling in my belly and ive been an even bigger fan of the man giant ever since, thats why i mistakenly put down bressler, when it should have always been bekker.
im a big fan of grant, he was easily SAs best flyhalf of the comp and i thought he should have been in the RWC or TriNats squad last year (damn lawrence, LMAO, :P) and he has continued with that form again this year. morne on the other hand has stuck to what he does best and thats his sniper like all round accurate kicking game. he leads the competition in most points, most penalty goals, most conversion, most drop goals, most kicking meter gained (618mtrs compared to j pieterson in 2nd place on 4899mtrs), but to top it off, peter grant is sitting 2nd equal on missed tackles, i think morne by far has been a better flyhalf this year.
daniels and coetzee have easily been the form looseforwards of SA and IMO j potgieter who has played most of his games like alberts did his first two Bok tests of the year a real power house runner the likes of kerean read.
alberts form of late has been good, but i found his form before his Bok selection to be average at best and was surprised to see him named in the Boks starting line up against england, cos IMO a a jhonson also out played alberts in most spXV games leading to the june tests.
vermeulen made the bench which is good enough for him, hes missed enough games to really not be considered, but his performance like goosen and leilafano was so red hot, it would be hard to not put them in the team.
i found lambie to be dependable at 15 for the sharks, but not spectacular, joe pieterson is similar, but with a higher accuracy count and pieterson still had moments of attacking brilliance worthy of a highlight reel, lambie on the other was, just his usual dependable self.
im also a big fan of jp pieterson, have often defend here him with saffex, but theres nothing he hasnt done this year that aplon hasnt matched, but aplon has done more with his attacking chances then jp pieterson has.
@bokbef$k,
nah bro, its not wrong, its just an opinon, but heres why i dont agree with ur a taylor over ben smith and savea over gear.
a taylor for nearly the first 2/3rds of the season was the fullback of the comp and 2nd to none and i like many was shocked to see him excluded from the intial All Black squad that was to be trimmed down later, we all thought he was a shoe in for sure.
however his last 5 games have not only been average, they have been below average, very quiet with some nice touches here and there, but nothing even close to resembling the form he had earlier.
ben smith on the other hand has been mr reliable ofr the highlanders and jospeh has even said he hasnt played a single bad game for the last two years. errors are part of the parcel in every players game, but ben smith has a reputation of keeping them low enough to touch the ground.
u cant have watched too many highjlande rgame sthis year to say savea is more in form then gear. most running meters in the comp, 1595mtrs, thats almost an average of 100meters per game (not surprisingly ben smith is 2nd in the running meters 1281 meters). gears also 2nd for most runs, 4th for most try assits, 4th for line breaks, 6th for offloads. savea in cotrast is 7th for most runnin meters with 1005mtrs, 7th with most linebreaks and 3rd with most tries.
gear is IMO easily NZs form winger.
