like my other threads from the other rounds, my team of the week is based on who i thought was the best in those positions for the week, :o)

You have to be kidding - Jean over Rene Ranger and Nana-Williams. JJ Engelbrecht was better than Jean and I did not see any of the Kiwi and Oz matches that did not involve SA sides.

@saffex,

IMO JDV was better then everyone bar ranger. it was a close call with ranger,  but in the end JDV defensive orginastion won it for me over rangers all round performance.
JDV & kolisi were two of the biggest contributors towards the stormers victory.

Sasue

I fully agree with your selections.  I know you are a Fourie admirer and the other selections are seriously based on form.   I do think Ioane was good on the wing- but maybe on an all round absis - your selections are cortrect.

Saffex as per normal is punting nonentities for selection - so his views are not even a consideration.

Sas rubbish, Jean made no contribution on attack at all. JJ, Ranger and Williams were all better with ball in hand.

What on earth did Jean do to win the game for the Stormers - organise the defence????

13 Rene Ranger (Blues) - Another fine performance secures him the number 13 jersey for a second week in a row. Ranger stood out in his team's defeat to the Bulls with 102 meters gained, two turnovers won and seven tackles made. A mention too for Tim Nanai-Williams who continues to impress in his new position for the Chiefs.

@saffex,

when i posted my team i had only watched all three SA vs NZ games once, but after watching it again and in particular watching JDV with a microscope, ur right, he wasnt as good as i originally thought and i have now edited my team of the week and replaced JDV with ranger.
when i first watched the game i remember JDV being everywhere and while he was everywhere again the second time round, he was much a do about nothing
JDV wasnt horrible like u made him out to be though, but he wasnt amazing like i did too.

i kept a close eye on englebrechtt too and i wasnt impressed with him during the game, IMO he was the same as JDV.

i also replaced willie le rloux with kade poki from the highlanders, le roux was good but poki was waaaaaaaaaaaay better.

I agree with your changes - I did not think Le Roux was that good to warrant selection - but I was not going to argue about that one with you.  Poki is a real candidate for my fantasy selections - but I want to ask you to keep en eye out for the teams.   I am at a dead end with my selections this coming week and may be forced into using the wild card to get me on the right track.

I am in future going to have a virtual full New Zealand backline (exceptions possibly being Goosen, Lambie  Ioane and Brier)  - but I am definitely staying away from New Zealand forwards - with perhaps one or two rare exceptions.   Afeaki and Cane springs to mind - the rest is definitely on my shitlist - especially your man Retallick is OUT of my mind completely.   I will play around with Sam Whitelock - but I am really waiting for Etzebeth to get back and will then have him and Bekker as my key locks.   Missing Bismarck as well.

Depending on selections I am likely to use the cheap Labuschagne and Botha - with Cane as my third loosie and Coetzee on the bench (he may yet get back into form).   I am waiting to see how Fourie (your points cow) is doing.   If the Stormers start him at loosie - I will be forced into getting him on board as well.

Sas agree with you on Jean, but disagree on JJ.

Jean just did nothing all game, JJ looked threatening with ball in hand against the form centre pairing in the comp

@mikey,

thats prettty much been the formula i always go by, NZ players for the backline with the odd aussie like digby & biber and maybe a saffa flyhalf. while my loose forwards are kiwis and my tight 5 normally being safas,
the all aussie darby we had in round 1 really wreaked havoc & as a result its taken a while to get the teams the way i like.

for the last two years bekker was always one of my locks, but he was uselss 2011-2012, hes being playing some real good rugby though in 2013, so hes back on my watch list.
im going to stick with retallick, cos i know hes going to deliver. he had a shocker last sun, but his work rate was still high all things considering.
fourie has been real good for me and hes replaced strauss as my regular hooker, strauss was my default hooker last year.

if i have enough transfers, i might get rid of coetzee until his form gets back to normal. hes still good, hes just not outstanding like he was last year.
