There are some serious under-performers in the squad just announced - and in this regard the following are serious problem cases"-
Kirchner (today again proved that he remains the worst full back in Super 15) Basson. De Jongh (absolutely the single poorest defender at center in Super Rugby), Spies (did nothing again today - was he in fact On th fiels of play?) and Alberts (who only played in two games in Super 15 and produced nothing of any value - same s he did in the tests last year)
From the squad as announced I would pick the following team to represent SA in the tests next week:-
15 - Le Roux
14 - Engelbrecht
13 - De Villiers (c)
12 - Serfontein
11 - Habana
10 - Lambie
9 - Hougaard
8 - Botha
7 - Labuschagne
6 - Louw
5 - Du Toit
4 - Etzebeth
3 - Nyakane
2 - Strauss
1 - Oosthuiizen
16 - Du Plessis
17 - Beast
18 - Van der Merwe
19 - Coetzee
20 - Pienaar
21 - Steyn
22 - Aplon
In dealing with the above I have to admit that Serfontein is really the poustanding selection - he was brilliant today. I think Meyer will select Morne Steyn - even though he was not all that brilliant today - but I would reather invest in the future - and pick Lambie at 10.
The other problem we have is the tighthead prop - Jannie Du Plessis was iffy all year long and I do not thhe brings enough into the game anymore. There are as I quickly counted only five loosies in the squad as announced - three will have to play and one would be on the bench. I do not think Alberts is fully matchfit as it is and based on his perfpormances last year and in the two matches played this year - I do not think that he should be in the team for Saturday.
Incidently the first name announced tonight was Adriaanse. When I said that he was the best no 3 on display last week - Mozart went ballistic. Just show that some people knows zero about rugby
