Squad of 26 for Oz

Time for some changes and movement towards establishing a Bok side that reflects the S15 form our SA sides displayed:

Backs: Lambie, Habana, Mvovo, Jordaan, JJ.Engelbrecht, Frans, Goosen, Jantjies, Hougaard, Pienaar

Forwards: Kitshoff, Beast, Jannie, Malherbe, Strauss, Fourie, Etzebeth, Bekker, Flip, Bresler, Daniel, Josh Strauss, Vermeulen, Coetzee, CJ Stander, Alberts

Its mad to think that we are without the options of Taute, Whitehead, JP, Coenie, Bismark, Chiliboy, Steph du Toit, Jeandre Kruger, Brussouw, Kolisi, Schalk, Kankan and Spies to call on.

Kitshoff and Malherbe would be welcome additions to the squad.

Get rid of Pat Cilliers and Dean Greyling. If the bok team is not winning it should at least be bringing in some of the new players to get experience. The world cup is in 3 years and messing around with any no hopers is not constructive.

For the backs Morne Steyn and Zane Kirchner being left out would be a big statement by Meyer that he wants to play a postive game plan, not the one dimensional ping pong. He may gain allot of support from this.

The big calls Meyer has to make is getting rid of Morne and Jean NOW

I just don't see Meyer not bringing Morne.....Now not starting him may be realistic, but I hate to say it, he's going to be on the plane.

Other then that, I don't see how this team could be any worse then what we witnessed on Saturday.

With the current team, could Lambie not play 10, and F Steyn play 15?? This is a question. Please do not tar and feather me for the thought.

Yes Lambie could play 10 and would be a welcome replacement for ponderous Morne.

Frans has to stay at 12, he would be wasted at 15. If we played Lambie at 10, Kirchner could stay at 15.

I however would play Goosen or Jantjies at 10, with Lambie at 15

As I would welcome a change like you have suggested, I think Meyer just going with Lambie at 10 would be nice. Pienaar at 9 as well. Like I said, I don't think those two would do any worse as the halfbacks then Hougaard, and Morne.

I'd also like Fourie off the bench. That guy has energy, Intensity,  and brings a good rucking game.

Disagree can, Hougaard is a must at 9 and I thought his service on Sat was brilliant in trying conditions given his forwards were hardly protecting the ball.

Hougaard is a world beater and the questions against him as a 9 are a joke. The lad would be completely wasted on the wing. He is our most dangerous back and needs to be in the action at 9, not hidden away on the wing

I do agree that the forwards are giving him no help, but when Pienaar comes in, the ball seems recycled much quicker with the same forwards.

That was not the case on Sat.......Hougaards service was better than Pienaars

Houggard is not the answer nor is he the best to service our backline and is no where near a world beater in that position and mate you are dreaming if you think he is.

There would be easily 5 or 6 halves in the world with better distribution, faster pass, better kicking game, smarter options taking then Houggard so stop getting carried away with him as Pienaar is in all facets a better halvey then Hougagard. I rate Will Genia, Araon Smith, Mike Phillips, Andy Ellis, Pienaar way before Houggard

though I do agree most halves would look bad working behind a clueless forwra pack). The questions against him are very legitamte and his real test starts against the Wobblies.

The problem with having him at halfback is that our gameplay is not working for him and his ability to be totally effective will be nullified as he is required to work to our structures and though he does do things at times which are brilliant it doesnt wimn us games and it wont lead is forwrad in the way that FDP and the Joost's of yesteryear were capable of providing us with.

Finding 5 or 6 better in the world doesn't help SA though.

I think Hougaard has the potential, and could be groomed. Especially with a forward pack in front of him. I like hougaard, but it just seems to me when Pienaar is in, the ball is moved more efficiently.

Morne seems like a sitting duck out there. Sits way to deep, and I think doesn't know what he even wants to do with the ball. This isn't the S15 and he's not wearing a blue jersey.

 Morne has never been a great or average flyhalf. He is a kicker plain and simple and is playing out of his league.

Not to bad at all snapster but allow me to make a few improvements

I am leaving out Morne as I would like to see how we go without him. Apparently its all his fault. It would be nice to put this to the test snapster. Lambie and Goosen can cover flyhalf. Frans can also cover fullback. Jean and Jordaan would make an interesting center combo.

If you want  a fetcher Deon Fourie is probably the best in the country. The difference between him and Brussouw is that he is not as easily knocked off the ball.. Deon also is faster and drives the ball up better. However without Bissie we need a strong scrummager an dLibenberg is the man so Deon may need to be sacrificed. Iwoul dhowever sacrifce Daniels.

I have serious doubt about Mvovo as he looks too frail and gets too easliy dispossed. Van Der Heever may be a better bet. But a tour down under would also finally prove this once and for all. This is a period of sifting.

Our best performing back -Jean obviously continues to captain the side until Schalk comes back - if he does  - which appears more likely from recent reports.

brussouw bumped of the ball

hahahahahahaha yes beeno no player in the world can compete against 2 to 3 cleaners at the breakdown man alone. the only thing that you dont and cant understand is that those 3 players that cover brussouw or that brussouw presence has taken out of the game because they are not in the game in effect give us a 2 man advantage. in either defence or attack.

fourie is a better option but has no fetcher cv to speak off. can he do it he can but it requires time and practice to perfect that pattern of skillset. its not easy hunting the ball either you have it or you dont

in terms of the team please have a look at green's team on another post. to me personally has more balance to it then you line up still looks like a decent team.

I think Mvovo is out his depth at the moment and it will get worse with Aus and NZ. 

I would swap him for Gio 

Gio is slowing up because of age. I would not think of him against the abs.

I didnt notice Francois Louw getting bumped off the ball much muncher and I see Deon manages to stay put most of the time. We will need to see Fouire at international level to see how he shapes.

Snapster noted the guys who could possibly make a Bok squad and are injured. Some like Whitehead of course are not really contenders but a number are and show the extent of current injuries and departures etc.

Taute, JP, Coenie, Bismark, Steph du Toit, Brussouw, Schalk, Kankan and Spies. Bold =players who would make the squad if fit. The others might.

Yes, that's the starting 8 he's going to pick, Moz............

Probably be more along the lines of Beast, A Strauss, Jannie, Etzebeth, Bekker, Coetzee, Alberts, Daniel.

 The point being the Sapp has all those players in the squad, and only a nutter would actually play them. There are much, much better choices.

Kitshoff has struggled mightily just to break even in S15. Let alone applying loosehead pressure.

Fourie  will not survive test scrumming.

Who is Melherbe? I'm surprised Sapp isn't still punting the racist export.

Coetzee was thoroughly subdued by the Bargies....removed early.

Flip Flop is cumbersome and laks penalties.

Bressler. Nah not seriously and Daniel against the Abs. That won't work

And finally the one I really enjoyed the hirsute Strauss...now half the man, and a lock, sans beard.

If you want the ABs to score 80 points, play Sapps pack.

I have no problems with guys like Fourie, J Strauss, and Daniel on the Bench. I actually want Fourie on the Bench.

As for "much much better choices", I really don't see much much healthier options in all those positions. Maybe 1 or 2 here and there, but that's about it. I don't like Flip there, but who would you replace him with?

I'd replace Flip Flop with Elstadt.......using either him or Alberts as the cover at lock.
