Fullbacks....Willie, Lambie

Wings....Habana, Hendricks, Hougaard, Basson

13s......JP, de Allende

12s ....JdV, Frans

Fly halves....Morne, Pollard

Srumhalves....Pienaar, Kockott

Looseheads....Beast, du Toit

hookers....Bismarck, Strauss

Tightheads....Jannie, Cilliers

4 locks....Etzebeth, Lood

5 locks....Matfield, Becker

6 flanks...Louw, Coetzee

7 flanks....Alberts, Schalk

8th man...Vermeulen, Juan smith

Now before anybody has a hissyfit, I'm not sure if all these players are available or injury free. We may for example have to play Flip for Etzebeth for a while. We may also have to include Mvovo as a bench player to meet political needs. The team I have picked is my view our best set of playing options. Not one of the thirty selected players would be out of place starting a test.

Having said that I'm not sure this team will beat NZ or the resurgent Aussies at home. But I am sure that the best 23 off this list will destroy any team of newbies or flavour of the day Boks.

This really is a joke of a side - that will strggle against Argentina as well - especially away from home in the latter case.
Lets look at the players you have included in your favoured squad:-
Basson
You really cannot be serious about this one - he was a serial flop in Super 15 and his defense is putrid.   There are 10 better wings in SA than him.
Pietersen
A wing that helped out in the 13 position.  His defense was poor and he was not a success in that position.   Should stay on the wing.
Francois Steyn
The player with the worst record of any 12 in Super 15 - either in non-existing attacking play and in putrid defense.   The furthest he is away from the squad the better it would be for the team.  A really poor center identified previously as such by his previous coach.  Too slow to really fit into any backline.   Liuckily his latest hissyfit will keep him out of contention.
Morne Steyn
The player who cannot make the Stade Francais starting line up and was a serious flop in the Ellis Park test last year and int eh second Welsh test this year.   Th reason for the Stade Francais non-selection is clear - he is not up to standard as a flyhalf.
Kockott
Had a chance to prove himself in teh so-called World game in June and was seriously disappointing.
Pienaar
Has slowed down considerably in the past sic months and showed serious signs that age is getting to him.  One-dimensional with a really questionable service to the backline.  Him and Morne together will be a disaster for the Sprngbok side.
Cilliers
Are you kidding us.  Cilliers does not make the starting line up of the Stormers or WP - why him n the squad?
 Matfield and Bekker
Bekker is not available at all - so start thinking again.   Matfield will be pushed around by all the players he comes into contact with.   He is physically not up to it - but he will be selected by Meyer and failed the team
Alberts
The player with the lowest work rate of all loosies in Super 15.   He is just too limited in performance - playing no role in breakdown ball protection and ball recovery.   Cannot handle balls and his defense is a joke.
Burger
Has constant injury niggles and towards the end of Super 15 lost steam.   10 times better than Alberts - but not really the answer.   Doubts about his physicality and competitiveness.
No hissyfit necessary insofar as  the above 10 of the 30 players is concerned.   They have been picked by you based on reputation - not one of them has been based on actual present performances.
You are not sure whether the team will be able to beat the AB's or the Wallabies - yet you want serial flops in the squad that cannot be involved in beating the AB's and the Wallabies and has flopped in the past in trying to do just that.    If a team cannot beat competitors in the last three years - why stick with the seriously questionable players of that period?   Why not trying out something different?
Is our rugby really in such a poor state that we hab e to select failed players to make up the Springbok team?

Cilliers at tighthead........bwhaaaaahaaaaaaaaaa. Basson and Hougaard on the wing........useless Basson??? How many games have you seen Kockott play - ZERO is my guess. Lambie is not a fullback, Morne at 10.......geez we still on this, about sums you and Meyer up, Pienaar at 9 who has been piss poor all year? Matfield at 5 who is a physical liability, Bekker - yeah good one, when last did we see him play? So much imagination at 7 with Schalk and Alberts.......Smith at 8 rounds off a joke of a squad......it is much in line with our pathetic Bok coaches squad.....you are both equally clueless - this is a similar squad to the one Meyer will pick expect for the extraordinarily pathetic selection of useless Cilliers at 3. What will be interesting to see is what you clowns will be doing post the RC when sides like this get their arses kicked by Oz and NZ

Here is a real squad of 30:

15. Willie / Taute

14/11. JP / Habana / Hendricks / Sithole

13. JJ / de Alende

12. Serfontein / Frans

10. Goosen / Lambie

9. Hougaard / de Klerk

1/3. Beast / Coenie / Marcel v/d Merwe / Malherbe

2. Bismark / Strauss

4/5. Etzebeth / Lood / Willemse / Jacques du Plessis

6/7/8. Coetzee / Brussouw / Vermeulen / Kolisi / v/d Walt / Labascagne

Basson>Mvovo

JP> JJ

Frans> Steppie

Steyn> Goosen

Cilliers> Malherbe

Becker> Lewies

Schalk> Coetzee

Alberts>Potgieter

So what does > mean. It doesn't mean the player is perfect. It just means the player is more likely to make a positive contribution to his team than the next best replacement.

Take Steppie, we all know what he is going to do when he gets the ball. He is going to step inside and run into the first tackler. The ABs and Oz will know that and they will set up a one/two punch like they did with JJ....Nonu took him down, Read stole the ball. Frans in the meantime will offload out of many tackles, will stop the big guys pounding the 10/12 channel and his boot will gain huge chunks of space. Ergo....he is more likely to contribute positively.

Good one Moz, your call on Cilliers throws any credibility you might have had, straight out of the window.....not that you had any......man your squad is pathetic.......it smacks of conservatism and a lack of insight and certainly from a man out of touch with reality

But take comfort in the fact that our useless Bok coach sees things the way you do

Taute, Goosen, Lambie at 10, Reinach, JJ.....waaaaaaahahahahahahaha,  de Klerk, Hougaard at 9, Coenie,Kolisi and Labuschagne.

Dave you truly do not have a clue......every one of those players would be a point of weakness. An area to exploit.

But at least a fter the Sharks debacle I see you have dropped Mvovo and Reinach from your thinking....I told you many times these guys would fold in big games. At least you have learned that much.

Wrong Moz, these guys are by some distance the best or second best in their respective positions.

Taute is better than Lambie at 15

Goosen is twice the player Morne has ever been, as is Lambie

It was a close call between Faf and Reinach for the second 9 spot, so not sure where you get that I have dropped him. Reinach is a quality player, easily the best Sharks player in the semi. I have selected Faf and Hougaard as my 9's all season, with Reinach as 3rd choice, but I'd be more than happy with Reinach on board.

de Klerk was brilliant for the Lions, leaves Pienaar in the dust who was piss poor this year

Hougaard is far, far better than Pienaar, who is history......hell you have not even seen Kockott play and you are selecting him - about sums your selections up

Coenie is one of the best props in the game, even clueless Meyer knows that........how on earth could anyone select Cilliers ahead of any tighthead in SA, he was exposed a good 3 years ago and spends his time as a bench prop now

Kolisi is pure class as is Labascagne.......far better options that Alberts who is a non entity these days and as for Louw, I am yet to see what people see in this guy - he is not a test openside at all.

I am a big Mvovo fan, but I went with the younger Sithole and Hendricks as my wing back-ups to old men JP and Habana.....so no I have not given up on Mvovo - why would I, he has been great for the Sharks this year.

Fullbacks....Willie, Lambie

Wings....Habana, Hendricks, Jordaan, JJ

13s......JP, de Allende

12s ....JdV, Jan

Fly halves....Morne, Pollard

Srumhalves....Reinach and Hougaard

Looseheads....Beast, Marcell v/d Merwe (Du Toit at 19 must be kept back)

hookers....Bismarck, Strauss

Tightheads....Jannie, Malherbe

4 locks....Etzebeth, Lood (Etzebeth can play 4 or 5)

5 locks....Flip, Becker

6 flanks...Louw, Coetzee

7 flanks....Potgieter, Schalk

8th man...Vermeulen, Kan kan

Thus squad gives a lot of flexibilty eg in the loose trio you can add pace progressively. A far better squad.

JJ and Jordaan on the wings - now there are two smart picks by Beeno.

Why would you give up on Mvovo....well he was awful against the Saders for one thing, totally out of his depth. As I have told you many times, he is a player who looks good against weak opponents, and disappears against the more athletic NZ wings.

And I hadn't heard that scrumming has been removed from the game. Because that would have to be the case for Coenie to be one of the best props in the game. After all these years, havent you learned that a scrumming vulnerability is death. Coenie is good for a few scrumming penalties every game and even for the occasional yellow. It doesn't matter that he looks like Glossu Rabban Harkonnen if he cant stay on his feet in the scrums.

I could go on about your other silly choices but what's the point, you have a Grimm's Fairy Tale view of test rugby.....Goosen running through acres of open space....and you are too invested to change. Hell even the OOM seems to be quiet about Jordaan after his embarrassing flop.

So HasBEEN.... JJ and Jordaan flop totally at 13....and your answer is play them on the wing where their opponents will be even bigger and more athletic. Talk about upside down logic. Can you imagine Jordaan trying to tackle a Speight in space. That's the kind of match up you want for the Boks?

And Reinach is your lead scrummie, even though he was a big part of the Sharks loss. He is exactly like Hougaard, a fine runner but an inept scrummie and tactical kicker. He doesn't read the game....if you arent seeing things you run into brick walls which is exactly what Reinach did on Saturday, resulting in two turnovers and a penalty.

Man you guys having learning problems.....look at what's happening not your fantasy version of the game.

Sorry Moz wings are not generally bigger than centers. Both Jordaan and JJ have the necessary pace and bring with them some of the necessary skills of a center. I would rather have Jordaan whose defence is pretty good at center ta ckling Speight than Basson for example. JJ also will defend well on the wing where he belongs.
How about Reinach being a part of the Shaks win against the crusties with only 13 men and 14 for most of the match.
I like to take the season as a whole and not just one match when the team as a whole were way off the mark.

Reinach was frantic against the Stormers as well....McLeod added a lot when he came on. And can you imagine Jordaan or JJ under the high ball. Seriously?

These guys arent test players....Willie is, Pollard is, Hendricks is....we are finding terrific new players. No need to shuffle the flops around.

 So Mozart
Lets go through the serious flops again.
Francois Steyn flops totally at center for the whole series - but he is better than Serfontein.  No be honest and go through his stats as well.   He also flopped seriously on Saturday - and even where he made tackles it was of very poor quality.   The worst center at 12 at Super 15 this year.
Steyn - Goosen.  It is only you that would select the Stade Francais Reject for the Springbok team.   He was pathetic at Ellis Park and worse in the Welsh second test in June.  Anybody is better than that one who cannot read games and whose decision making is pathetic.
Cilliers - what a real joke and this after Jannie went backwards constantly Saturday - which is not mentioned at all by you.  Really - why is Cilliers not the front line prop f the Stormers and WP then?
Alberts constantly fail in doing the work of loosies  - but you are oblivious to that fact.  When he protects the ball and breakdown situations and recover one just once I may change my opinion about him - but that has not happened over the last year and is never going to happen anytime in future    Failure no 1 - since his work rate is pathetic.
By the way Reinach had nothing to do with the Sharks loss last Saturday - you will never put in one example of that so-called poor play and the reason for the loss.  Try and find it and come back.    Reinach was in fact one of the ebtter players of the Sharks and there were very few of those on the day.
Rather look at the low work rate players like Alberts and Steyn for the cause of the loss.   They were both pathetic and was only slightly better than Deysel and Jannie du Plessis - whose scrumming was pathetic.

They were part of the reason for the loss - can you read English at all. Virtually the whole team looked flat - with the exception of Reinach, Coetzee, Du Toit and to a lesser extend Bismarck.   The rest was just not there and that is a fact.
Just one thing - what about the two tries given away by Steyn - with his pathetic tackle attempt on Slade and the one donated to the Crusaders by Mcleod.- did you miss those two.
By the way Steyn made 9 tackles - missing 2 - but the quality of the tackles were poor and in every case the ball was easily off-loaded by the tackledd player.  Anytime worse than JJ's tackle attempts.
Mind you - why don;t you go and study Steyn's stats and come back with an evaluation on his performances to prove that he was useful as a backline player?

Well let's test the theory Jannie's scrumming lost the game. Here are the scrumming stats, Sharks on the right. It's true the Sharks did lose a scrum when the ball came out on the loosehead side and the Saders picked up to score. But catastrophically for your theory, both du Toit and Jannie had been subbed by then. Bwam!!!!!!  another OOM theory bites the dust. Man you are thick.

7 won, 0 lost (100.0%) Scrums on own feed 7 won, 1 lost (87.5%)

Some of the balls from scrums were won when the scrum was going backwards - always on Jannie's side as a matter of fact.   Two of those cases Kankowski had to pick up the ball and got swamped and lost possession as a result.
While Jannie was on the field the scrum constantly went backwards on the side he was scrumming.
By the way that scrum you just mentioned was followed by a spectacular absence from the defense by McLeod - the player you praise continuously.

I would go with (first the incumbents):

15. Le Roux/ there's no other SA fullback of test level except Bambie

14. Hendriks (he wouldn't make the AB nor probably the wallies but there's no other choice) /JJ Engelbrecht

13. de Allende/Sadie

12. JdV/Serfontein

11. Habana/JP

10. Pollard/Goosen (SA have a big problem here. Goosen showed great skills during his first year in SR but now is afraid of contact. I just watched Pollard once (last one against Rebels) and didn't show anything special, was very average, but he have good credentials and critics and there's no other option except Steyn who is probably the best option for the very close RC. During the EOYT I would no doubt try to develope Pollard or another flyhalf)

9. McLeod/ Reinach or de Klerk (McLeod showed the last matches that he's a more rounded scrummie. Reinach is the future but he has to develope his game yet. He and de Klerk can have big impact from the bench)

8. Vermeulen/ van der Walt or Whiteley (impressive SR campaign this last 2)

7. Coetzee/Louw or J. du Plessis

6. Carr/Brussow

5. Etzebeth/ Matfield

4. de Jager/Willemse

3. Malherbe/M. van der Merve

2. du Plessis or Strauss depending on the opposition

1. Mtwarira/du Toit

Not bad on the whole Basque, b ut M van der Merwe is not a test scrummager by a long shot. And while I agree JJ has flopped at 13, he has nothing but pace to offer on the wing....and if it's pace you want there are faster options like Chavanga. I prefer a more involved player like Hougaard who looks for work and of course Habana who still has the best vision of any wing in the game.

yeah, M. van der Merve was a little bit exposed when scrummagging against the Rebels, there was big difference when Kruger and Greyling came in, but I think he has potential to do it much better.
Hougard is more complete but for the last minutes I would choose JJ

du Toit made a real impression on a lot of people in his four Super Rugby games - included in a lot of Bok squads here and elsewhere.
Coenie on the other hand largely absent - will be interesting to see if Meyer is seeing what everyone else is.
Would not be surprised if Goosen completely left out by Meyer.

Watching Bok 7's at Commonwealth and again very impressed by Branco du Preez and wonder why he is never looked at for the 15's game. He seems to be the total package - can kick, pass, run, create. Maybe he is so crucial to our 7's team that everyone has been told hands off.
