After the gutless Proteas display against Pakistan, that AB actually tried to defend....how refreshing to see Sri Lanka take on power house India. And not back down, even when India posted 321. Mathews showed AB what a captain's knock looks like.
..
What this means is the Proteas/India game on Sunday becomes a quarter final, and the Pakistan/ Sri Lanka game another QF.
....
Can the Proteas summon up the courage to put in a full hearted effort and not blink?

Most fortunate to have your fate decided by another.
They should have had it rapped up.
We now have a determined Indian side facing a panic stricken quota filled Proteas.
Think I'll find something else to do on Sunday.

The match against India was a must win even before their loss to Sri Lanka. The next round of matches are effectively quarter finals. Winners proceed, losers go home. Has anyone else noticed that the Proteas one day side looked better, and statistically were better, for the period when De Villiers was injured and Faf was captain?
I know Faf is also not performing at the moment, but he seemed to thrive as captain.

Sorry boys, I only realised now that on the other cricket thread Denny started, the suggestion for Faf to be captain had already been made. Here I was thinking I was a a lone genius in this line of thought.
