I saw that.
Blind faith perhaps ?
Throwing an all-out attack will fail as the Boks will be running on adrenaline for this final game. The Boks are psychologically well suited to last stands. The second test was the time to seal the series. Gatland blew it.
My gut tells me the Lions will pinch it. Psychologically the Boks had to win the second test and they put in a huge physical shift which I think they will find it hard to do again one week later, while the Lions had the luxury of knowing it wasn't a must win match but now that the final game is a must win they will be do what the Bok's had to do in the second match, up their game. Just think the Lions have more in reserve.
Tend to agree with you Stav, being realistic and not what I want to happen.
I was one that did not think the Lions were weak...make calls by the head not the wishful heart
On the otherhand if the Boks can subject themselves to strict control of their emotions they can win it. I don't think thats impossible. Just don't let unnecessary inclinations rule...discipline and clear thinking will win the game.
I expected the Boks to front-up physically, but it never happened. The Lions dominated the contact area, but couldn't cope with those kicks, and it eventually took its toll. Once thr scoreboard crossed a single score the Boks began to look more comfortable. The Boks have another gear of physicality, even with the flaccid and easy to man-handle Lood.
I think it’s 60/40 to the Boks….our pack is that much stronger. Neither coach has done one thing, other than Erasmus’ embarrassing video, which is unexpected. One tactic…like the wing from the blindside which beat the 2009 Lions and the 1960 All Blacks.. could win this test.
I’m not filled with hope, I have to say
Could it be that Gatland doesn’t have a clue? I mean he selects a team with forwards who ‘can run into gaps’ . And then makes it a WW1 affair. Surely Billy Vunipola would have been a huge asset if he intended to play this way. Tuilagi as well.
Billy has been poor, Mozart, and Tuilagi is injured so they were both non starters.
Funny - but a few months ago everything Stander said was disregarded by Mozart - now this??????????
Hitting the gainline with a thud and making no ground is not physical domination. The Lions were getting behind the tackler. The Boks rarely put two or more phases together. Without the aimless hack nobody could catch, they weren't getting up field or behind the defensive front. Catch a clue Unteromlett.
When Stander saw he was not going to play for the B&I Lions, and increasin g pressure with in the Irish back row - he packed his stuff and moved back to SA.
Jake White has already spoken to him about potentially playing at hooker given the back row depth at the Bulls.
Yep, if he was selected he’d be playing not opining.
Any logical person would know that Stander was NOT available for selection and only conspiracy theories are put up by Mozart.
