Stampkarr anybody?

Apart from flopping over for a try, did this small prop forward do anything but conceding penalties, getting stripped by SBW and making toothless 1 metre runs. His high tackle penalty before the half changed the game....vastly overrated.

The British press once again forgives Stampkar his turnover which stopped the Lions initial momentum.....and the penalty at the half which led directly to 7 Blues' points. They effuse about his 19 carries....which led to 39 metres, no breaks and one defender beaten. The Lions flanks, Tipuric and Haskell only got the ball 15 times .....but jointly made 47 metres, beat 2 defenders and made a clean break. Two metres a run for Stampkar....3 for the other loosies. .. Oh, and Tipuric and Haskell each made an offload...none for Stampkar. It's hilarious how this nineties style Bools loosie continues to mesmerize the British rugby press.

That's pretty much the flavour....it seems carrying the ball a lot of times is evidence of merit.

 When it comes to Stander nothing will count in his favour at all.   So what else is ne w about this repetitive drivel?

Have to disagree.....he is bog ordinary....no hands, not agile, not strong enough to break tackles, and he doesn't. One defender beaten in 19 carries is extraordinary. Just by accident he should beat more than that.

Gun to the head - name the one thing that the AB's do better than the rest of the world. The real difference maker.
Offload in the tackle. Its what opens up defenses more than anything else. Ball carrier is always looking to do it, and support players are anticipating it. And they do it without sacrificing their defensive ability because they're fitter than anyone else.
Stander doesn't even think about it. Runs to contact for a recycle. Predictable.
The fact he's adulated in NH betrays their concept of attacking rugby.
If Schalk Burger had similar stat lines in a game he would have been ridiculed. Difference is Burger looked to offload and create . 

To your point, here are Schalk's stats against Wales in the WC: . 1 14 26 59 0 1 2 0 .........26 runs/ 14 passes/ 2 offloads . Here are Stampkar's stats against the Blues: . 0 4 19 36 0 1 0 0.....19 runs/ 4 passes/ 0 offloads . We find Schalk makes more metres per carry in a WC playoff than Stampkar can make against the lowest rated NZ Super team. ....that he passes 35% of the time vs 18% of the time for Stampkar......that he offloads twice vs zero offloads for Stamp. And still Schalk was heavily criticized and Stampkar lauded as the best Lions' loosie. ... Are we mad?

Dave I'm willing to make you a friendly bet that by the the third test Stampkar won't even be on the bench if all the loosies are available for selection. Winner to admit he was wrong.

 By the way - Mozart - was the stats not in respect of the test where Burger was the stand-in flyhalf?   The ball was passed to him 41 times by the scrummie as against 19 balls passed to the Pollard.
Not appropriate to compare that abortion of a game plan stats with a standard rugby game.

That's a deal Moz......he is their best option at 8 or 7 now that Billy is not an option at 8

Stander is a class act ... and no matter what you guys say I will always rate him as such. He's done more than enough already to prove that.

Stampkarrrr one tackle attempted, one tackle missed. Meanwhile Faletau puts in another dominating performance, looks like number 8 is spoken for.

I see Stampkarrrr got a 4 from the Herald....and a 5 from the Express for dropping the pass with the 'tryline beckoning'.

 I see that the discussion turned to Faletau playing at 8 - what has that to do with Stander -  stupid?
