lAs promised I am doing an analysis of all number 12 center performances of all players based on the ESPN database and then I will do an analysis of the centers after each round:-

Round 2

C Aki 0/0 0 0/9/12 67 2 2 1 0 10/0 0/0 1 0/0

C Nonu 0/0 0 0/6/9 48 0 1 2 1 7/1 0/0 1 0/0   Lealiifano 0/0 10 2/12/9 55 1 2 1 1 4/1 0/0 0 0/0 C Sidey 0/0 0 0/4/3 0 0 0 0 0 8/3 0/0 0 0/0 C de Allende 0/0 0 1/8/10 26 0 1 0 1 3/2 0/0 0 0/0 C Olivier 0/0 0 0/5/6 13 0 1 0 2 10/2 0/0 0 0/0 C F Saili 0/0 0 2/12/7 80 2 7 2 1 9/0 0/0 0 0/0 C Bateman 0/0 0 2/13/3 41 1 1 0 2 4/1 0/0 0 0/0 C Carter 0/0 0 1/13/15 21 0 0 0 1 7/3 0/0 1 0/0 C Steyn 0/0 0 0/7/8 23 1 2 2 2 5/0 0/0 1 0/0 C Ebersohn 0/0 0 1/5/4 32 0 0 0 2 9/0 0/0 0 0/0 C Godwin 0/0 0 1/5/7 22 0 1 1 3 9/0 0/0 0 0/0 C Strauss 0/0 0 1/6/7 4 0 0 2 2 9/2 0/0 1 0/0

We are specifically looking at the rating of Steyn in the relevant regard.    For comparion purposes it is necessary to find norms for the purpose.   The obvious way is to look at the following basic requirements:-

Tries

Try Assists

Length gained in carrying the balls.per carry

Clean Breaks

Defenders Beaten

Off-Loads

Turnovers

Tackles Made

Tackles Missed

Penalties Conceeded

Red Cards

Yellow Cards

Tries

None of the centers scored any tries

None of the centers assisted in scorig of tries

I think if you multiply the defenders beaten by the ratio of beers consumed the night before, there is a better chance of formulating the actual performance of the players involved.

It is also important to distinguish between those players who listen to Kings of Leon and those that listen to the Smashing Pumpkins

Mike.....what you have to do now is normalize your data.....divide the metres /clean break/defenders beaten by the number of runs. Then analyse the run versus pass stats. Compute the tackle percentage. And for all these provide a cumulative average.

When you have dealt with all the imposters, like the naked metres stat, and seen them for what they are.....then you can call yourself a statistician my son!

Moz, for once I have to agree with you. This is why I said it was going to be fun.
