Stats can't tell you everything. But they do tell us Matfield took two NZ balls and made 17 tackles. They also tell us only Vermeulen and Jannie  in the pack beat a tackle. That neither of our centres beat one tackle. That Willie gifted 4 turnovers.

That in aggregate we made 7 clean breaks, the same number as NZ. But we lost the defenders beaten by a total of 31 to 10..... and metres gained by 611 metres to 282. A staggering difference.

We need to beat tackles. I see Serfontein got high ratings again....but he has now run eight times in the last two weeks, without beating one defender. We need centres that beat tackles.

We lost three lineouts in a row and matfiled was penalised twice and frankly faded away completley in the second half. we were two up in the first half but my guess we lost the lineout count in the end. In the tackles he was driven back meters at a time and I closed my eyes in shame at the spectacle.Away with wee victor 106 kg and the papest lock ever to play international rugby. That the wee abs battled and were humiliated in the last quarter against a tight five that inlcuded matfiled is an indication of how pap they are! Bwahahahhahahahaha
MEYER WAKE UP.YOU CAN PLAY BEAST AND JANNIE MORE THAN 60 MINUTES MAX. THESE GUYS ARE TIRED.  YOU CANT PLAY A TIGHT 4. YEARS OF THSI NONSENSE - WHAT ADISASTER MATFILED HAS BEEN.YOU CANT INSTRUCT THE SCRUMMIE TO KICK ALL OUR BALL AWAY - HOUGAARD'S PERFORMANCE WAS A DISGRACE. THERE ARE NOP OTHER WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT.AARON SMITH, A GOOD SCRUMMIE ( ALITTEL SLOWED AS WILLIE SHOWED) SHOWED OUR TWO GUYS UP. HOUGAARD SHOULD BE AN ATTACKING SCUMMIE NOT A DU PREEZ WANNABE - AS HAS BEEN SAID BEFORE. ANOTHER TALENTED PLAYER RUINED BY THE BULLE!!!
WHEN WILL MEYER LEARN!!! GO FOR BROKE NOW - EVEN IF WE BEAT THE ABS AND OZ AT HOME WE CAN'T WIN THE RC THANKS TO THE BENT REFFING LAST WEEK SO INVEST IN THE FUTURE I SAY.
I do hope Dr Mozzzz noted Serfonteins great defence.

I suppose wee ben smith dancing delicately from side to side and going nowhere contributed 20 odd of those missed tackles but all to no avail. Stats can be so misleading without astute interpretation! What we need above all things in the backline is a decent scrummie!!! Wake up MeyerDr Moz you may note the wee abs scored 1 try when loiuw was injured. (Is that a stat?) Also how innocuous mother Nonu and Conrad carthorse were. Carol jane was innocuous as was dagg. Only Aaron Smth and Savea were any good. FACTThe abs are in trouble but dont know it.All we need to do is get our pack right and get in a scrummie and we are in business big time. Can Meyer figure it out. I have real doubts but live in hope. Pollard came through and that is a big plus - FIND HIM A PARTNER. TRY REINACH. Allende is too good to leave out. Malherbe must be at 3 next year. MArcell an Nyankane showed the abs how t oscrum. Also a positive. Now meyer should know he has some options for the home test.

Now you want to post Matfeild stats, why exactly don't you post Matfeild's stats the other times when he has been below average and decent most of this year?

It wasn't a bad performance from Matfeild but he doesn't have any potential left as a 37 year old player, so why invest in him for the future? I'd much rather prefer Stephan Lewies or the other younger locks (At least they don't get driven back when they tackled.)

Look at Etzabeth's stats, Matfield did better. Rettalick was far better.

Matfield was useless, he can't tackle and is too bloody old to roll away in the tackle thereby conceding penalties. He offers nothing in general play offers no grunt at all.
A complete liability. While he stays in the side, we will lose.
Watching the physicality of Willemse last night for the Bulls made me think if only we had him and Etzebeth together instead of the insult who is Matfield. He was nothing short of pathetic.

Sure the stats say Matfield did not carry any balls.   It says he made tackles - but nothing about the quality of the tackles,   It says he took two oppoostiton line out throw ins - but does not say tthe opposition took two of the Springbok thow-ins from him.   It does says that Matfield gave away two penalties also.
The man makes substandard tackles and he has no grunt.   If we had a proper lock - he would not have funbled that last line out where the intention was to start a maul.
I think that Matfield remains a poor selection fo r the Springboks - like Jannie dooes every match - he plays well early on and the longer the match goes on the more he vanishes.
Why talk about Serfontein - why not talk about De Villiers?   I am getting very worried -  De Villiers's performances this year is much poorer than it was last year - and his defense is seroiously problematic as well.

Mozart I said it a few weeks ago, back after Carthorse de Allende suddenly became our solution at 13.We have zero x-factor in our midfield.I even wrote after the Oz game,"we lost midfield"...Anyway to late now.But yeah we need line breakers and strike runners.Thats why I think Mvovo might be a good 13.Strong,pacey can step, thinks creatively.Willie Le Roux is struggling because the pressure is on him to do everything now.I stick to what I say,"Attack is the best form of defense".The All-Blacks are masters at keeping possession. They know the opposition can not score points with out the ball. And on keeping the ball, the magic men are running angles...Ben Smith,Dagg,Nonu....Savea.We can learn alot about their rugby.A lot!!!!

Well some learning on the part of the Sapp. I have been saying for months that Willemse is a better bet than Lomp ...he seems to finally be getting the message Lomp is not the answer.
