The conventional view is Stephanie has been head and shoulders better. The DCup view is Mostert has been awful. Now different teams, opponents, styles so it's hard to compare....and there is stuff that stats don't catch. But it's a guide. So Steph played 430 minutes.....Mostert 640 minutes. So we should expect their productivity to reflect that. So when Steph has a few more runs 60 to 57 ....it means he is being more roughly 50% more productive per minute. But not more productive a run.....Mostert makes 5.9 metres per run....Stephanie also 5.9 per run. Although Steph beat 19 tackles vs 15 Mostert. On balance a bit more productive and a bit more penetrating. In the ball handling department....du Toit has 2 pilfers vs none for Mostert. But he has 5 handling errors vs none for Mostert . Giving the secure handling edge to Mostert.....still Stephanie managed 5 offloads. About a neutral overall. Then there is defence. Stephanie made fewer tackles but consistent with his fewer minutes. He has tackled at 89% vs 85% for Mostert.....so again an edge there for the Stormers player. On balance the stats support the idea that Stephanie has thus far been a bit more productive on attack, and a bit more secure on defence. But the numbers are really quite close.

Lomp at 4.7 metres per carry.....with 6 turnovers, 6 handling errors and 5 penalties is distinctly a step down on the offensive side. Although he is tackling at 93% and is matching Mostert's tackles per minute.

Good analysis Moz, I was always in favor of PSDT anyway but still have concerns about him being of average height (that long neck make him appear taller than he really is).

Wow thrice balanced......turnovers conceded Mostert 2, Lomp 6, Stephanie 8. Taken together with handling errors ......Mostert 0, Stephanie 5, Lomp 6....that suggests Mostert is still some way ahead in terms of accuracy with the ball.

What does the turnovers consist of?   Not always the fault of the player if there is insufficient  ball protection in tackle situations by teammates - so the player cannot be blamed for that.

However,  stats are normally indicative of certain activities on the field of play - but is not thealpha and omega insofar as performance evaluation is concerned.
