Simple.

How many pi55 poor game wasting pefromances must Ruan Pienaar and Morne Steyn put in before Meyer finally drops them?

Here is what my Facebook status said on Saturday morning...

"Predict lots of aimless kicking, Morne Steyn to do nothing special and Ruan Pienaar to probably lose it for us. Oooh to be a Bok fan."

Not far wrong was i? Now either i am psychic or there is a very obvious problem that everyone else BU T Meyer sees.

Why does he persist with this?

I just hate it so very very much. Need to find a support group for this because God knows i am about to start supporting Argentina.

 Plum
Welcome to the site.
There are a few members here - I call themn the resident morons - who cannot ever see anything wrong with Pienaar and Mone Steyn.    I am one of the people who says that the surest guarantee for a  Springbok loss is to have hose two in the team.
I hope that Meyer opens his eyes and see what really is going on - I know some players are in the team because they are his favourites from the days when he was the Bulls coach  despite medicore present performances - but that is a negative insofar as he as a coach is concenned.

Just have no words for how gutted i feel every time they are announced in the starting line-up. It's like i'm gonna watch my favorite boxer, with one hand tied behind his back getting the crap kicked out of him. Tears bud, tears!

Spot on Plum, Morne has always been useless.
Pienaar was good in his day but more as a back up off the bench behind du Preez.  He is now past it and a soft touch.
I share your disappointment whenever the Bok side is announced with the names of Fourie, Jean, Morne, Pienaar, du Preez, Steenkamp, Jannie, Bakkies, Matfield, Louw, Schalk, Smith and Alberts in it.
All great players in their day except Morne but their day is long gone.

I know some of their play was not up to standard but Meyer must shoulder the bulk of the blame as it's him telling them to kick possession away all the time!

Rubbish Mozart. Cobus Reinach was SA's best performing scrum half throughout most of the Super 15. You always allude to the Crusaders game not realizing that Pienaar would've played much worser that day.

Nope....Lambie was much, much worse. Morne made one huge mistake on Saturday, but he helped make the Hendriks try with a fine, instantaneous pass and his goal kicking was superb. Lambie was very poor against the Saders, including several disastrous kicks
As for Reinach, McLeod saved the Sharks bacon the week before....after Reinach bungled all game . It wasn't just the Saders game....the moment the pressure increased, his mistakes increased. Its a pity, he's a great runner, but no test scrummie.

Now obviously you guys know way more about Bok history than I ever will. But as a fan of those old black and white news reels and old test match footage it seems to me that Bok rugby wasnt always about the forwards  and giant lumpy dudes hammering the opposition into submission but there used to be a lot of skilful play from your backs .Conversely the ABs had long periods of dour "10 man " style rugby .So what changed ? As for those old,old ,OLD school games it amazes me how quickly and organically the scrums seem to magically appear , lineouts too [ although there seems to be no gap at all in the line-out !]

 Mozart
Go and look at minute 14 - that kick was as big a mistake as he made in the last three minutes.  Then go a bit earlier and see what he produced in the Argentina test.
And then go and look at his defense stats as well.   There is no comparison - Morne was sh!t poor - ten times worse than Lambie ould ever be.
Noiw you bring in Reiach - he bungled NOTHING in the Crusaders games - neither in the round robin game where he scored a try and the second game - - you are delusional.  If there was a bugger up - and a complete one - it was by McLeoiod in the semis.
If you dislike players you invent lies to denigrate them- so one cannot beleive a word what you wrote about player performances.

62' - TRY to the Highlanders!

Centre Phil Burleigh scores another sublime try for the Highlanders.

It started after Reinach failed to kick out which enabled Ben Smith and Patrick Osborne to counter from halfway

Shortly after that McLeod was brought on....Reinach had a poor  match against the Highlanders, and a bit better but still poor against the Saders. For example he was AWOL at the first two breakdowns. Not a skilled international level srumhalf. Like Hougaard he would probably show better on the wing.

Hello folks, new here.

I was at the Perth test, and after that pi55 poor effort of defence from our super star 10 in the wake of the Izzy try, at this stage I was already cookin. The left foot shank was yet another exhibition of the skill he possesses. At this point I shouted so loudly calling for him to removed from the field immediately that I think Heyneke heard me in the box. But my call for sanity to prevail fell on deaf ears. Move on from this half back pairing, amongst many others, we 've got nothing to lose

Monsterbok I was sitting at home in the NT watching and its a wonder you didn't here me yelling. I was watching a replay of the game this morning and its amazing the things you notice when watching with a clear head and heart. Some of Pienaars kicks in general play were very ordinary. Gifting the Wallabies the ball back when the boks were in good attacking field position. Why they did not keep ball in hand and run I will never know. Good attacking full back, fast wings, its all there and the one time they threw it out wide they score. They are obviously playing to instructions from a higher authority. Some of Pienaars service was pretty slow.

Pienaar hasn't been a test quality 9 for the last ... well for friggin ever ... at least 20 years. The rest of the planet knows this ... except of course our fool of a coach who'll persist with him till thy kingdom comes.

Morne Steyn is about as capable of producing quality rugby as Mozart is of getting a hard on. Limp d!cks the both of them. Useless.

We need to get rid of this ex Bulls coach, his ex Bulls assistants, the broederbond's influence and start anew.

All the ineffective old wood should be cut away, starting with Pienaar and moving on to Jannies, Morne, Victor, HouGat, Gurthro, Bakkies, Du Preez and a host of others that this fool of a coach seems hellbent on selecting as our front line test players.

A complete overhaul.

Unfortunately we have to endure this fool of a coach for who knows how much longer.

I'd even settle for Pienaar at 10. That's how des i am.
My personal choice, not many will agree, but i'd have Vermaak at 9 and maybe Reinach on the bench.
I start to think Marnitz Boshoff is the most cursed player in our history, really feel for the guy. T hough i'd love to see him in green and gold. Watched him at Ellis park a few times and was highly impressed.
PS is Mozart a troll?

Hey Claydog,

With half the stadium comprising of expat Saffa's it was a big disappointment. I did feel proud when Duane smashed Slipper, not that I don't like Slipper, just a great tackle.

This skop en jag kak has got to stop, particularly the frequency at which it is used. Although Willie had a quiet game his 2 clever kicks skidding off the we surface to Izzy were very effective in the 2nd half, resulting in massive gains with the Boks throw in. There is a time and a place!!

Look, to be honest I'm a armchair critic and I expect the pressure on both the coach and the players must be huge BUT I refuse to believe that we do not have other options at 3, 5, 9, 10, 14 (Not sure about Cornal -Not a fan of JP). I like Serfontein and think he is probably our future 12,  but 13 is a problem as many have mentioned.

I say roll the dice, grow a pair, this weekend and even if it is a cricket score (49-0 against Wallabies), lets see what happens against the best in the world. Put a sniper on the roof and the first one to kick away possession aimlessly should be shot. That's a little extreme but I think you get the message.

GROW A PAIR HEYNEKE!!

Welcome Plum & MonsterBok. Beware though, we have a mole hunter & troll and multi-id hunter on this site who has brilliant detective skills. I will not reveal his name for obvious reasons, lol
We need new blood on here so it is good to see your posts. IMO the Boks are still a good team & will give the ABs a tough game. Problems at 9 and 10 are holding the team back but I also agree that the ineffective kicking did not help. Willie needs to be injected into the 10 posi tion to spark the backs. Not much change is required to get the team playing 10% better but if more improvement is required more change will be required.

Dunno. To me it's like trying to re-decorate a room when there are two large and horrible pieces of furniture in it. Once they are removed then one can gain perspective on what needs doing. While they are there they make everything else look terrible...even objects you had no problem with in the past.
Wow, i managed to make a highly metrosexual post on a rugby forum.

Plum ... yes welcome.

Mozart is a pensioner that rates the elderly as still capable of competing against the stronger, younger generation.

I know ... he's delusional.

I don't have anything against him ... I just feel sorry for the poor dear as he finds himself wandering around aimlessly at times, never really sure of where he's at.

He needs to be looked after 24/7 and I'm sure he's got some nurse watching him and helping him back into his straitjacket when he manages to squirm out.

He does have his good days. You can see that when his posts actually have content. Usually it's just a blank empty page staring at us. Gotta feel for the old codger.

You'll figure it out as you go along. That is of course if your not already familiar with us all ... or a regular on this board with just another name tag attached. There seems to be a few of those around.

Either way I'll give you the benefit of the doubt ... for now.

I did read that Steyn made 7 tackles and missed 8.
Now, you know i hate stats because they lack context, but that screams to me that someone isn't doing their defensive duty.
It also doesn't take into account the fact that he failed to attempt to tackle, well, at least once.....and we all saw how costly that was.

Of course he was too busy petitioning the ref for a perceived infringement, you know, asking for a review....he thought those new rules some are asking for had come into force !

Plum and MonsterBok welcome to the site and your refreshing comments on the old Bok guard.
Agree with your views as well as Saffex.
All we have to achieve now is to get guys like Mozart to wake up and smell the fresh air.
Although I am a Bok supporter when it comes to betting I always place my bet on the winner.
Pray that Meyer gets a bit of heavenly guidance prior to announcing his team of vets for this week-end.

Got to love this crap about Reinach and Lambie failing in the semi against the Saders......what utter rubbish. Reinach had a good game and outplayed his opposite number and was one of, if not the best Sharks player on the day.

Lambie had a solid game, if he was bad, what was he bad at?

The real issue on the day, was Jake's pathetic instruction to his players, to play the Meyer kick and chase game.......that was the issue, not the individuals on the day.

Jake lost the plot
