Sorry Beeno, yeah saw it. Terrible TMO decision though against the Stormers, But must say the Stormers shouldn't have been in that situation.  They also turned about 12+ points down and went for the corners. They should have taken the points and get the 4 points first before chasing the 5th.

Habana and JDV were shocking.

As a partisan Aussie / Rebels supporter (v Stormers) I must admit my severe disgust at the injustice suffered by stromers at hands of ref/s tonite. Clearely Higgin knocks on and following play leads to rebels try and yellow card to stormers hooker. I felt for the stormers - but facing reality at least half a dozen of your reputed springbok players including jean and habana all knocked on simple ball tonight... The rebels were without nearly all their stars and still managed a vicotry. Shoulda been closer 1 point in it till howler of ref call....

Hi there abnob see you are wanting my expert opinion on matters. However as I havent watche dthe game I will be brief.

Of course the forwards were too small. 878 kg packs are not on. Pity  Rebels couldnt have faced our 940 kg pack but injuries stopped that. Allistair could nevertheless still have played Bezuidenhout and Armand.

Backline was also too small as al lan dsubnr yar etelling the oak. Here again injuries played a part but here again Allistair could have started with Van der Heever and Allende.

Seems we had a wacko ref again. Nz oak by any chance? Reds howler calls are generally enlightening as they can often remove any doubt re bias.

Pffft!   Yet another epic fail for the pathetic breezers as their nightmare season continues.  These pretenders need to be put out of their misery and relegated into a lower tiered competition so more deserving teams can play.  Lol,  Maybe give the Lions another go.  They can't be any worse than this miserable stompie team. Hehehe!

"as al lan dsubnr yar etelling the oak"

Baboon-ou, having posted on the same boards as you for some years now, I have managed to pick up a tiny bit of Baboon-speak so I can sometimes work out what you're saying (unfortunately), but I'm afraid the sentence above is beyond me. Are you saying something about Durban?

Not sure if there's a zookeeper or someone else with a double-digit IQ in range of you but, if so, please ask them to translate your grunting for us. Thanks!

Nuke, why do we hear from you so little these days? I miss your often ridiculous but always entertaining comments! Redsman, respect dude, I did not watch the game, so I can't comment on the Ref's call, but I respect the fact that you can admit a mistake even when it is against your team. I really don't know what is up with SA rugby! We just seem to be off the pace this year. Bulls are still in with a shout, and the Cheetahs I guess, but seriously, neither of them are going to win the competition. How did we manage to lose so much ground, and the Aussies gain so much ground in just one year? Rooi, was also trying to figure out what Beans was saying, but I know how I get when my team plays like shart, so I'll put that sentence down a mix of anger, shock and disappointment on Beans' part.

Beeno
I watched the game, in my perspective Coetzee isn't to blame, he selected the right players to perform and there was a major improvement in attack. Jantjies played well and creative putting players in gaps, like i stated before he is much better than Van Aswegen. Let me clarify a few decisions that was disgraceful to rugby union in general. On one occasion before half time Rebels had a penalty kick at goal which was unsuccessful but the ref decided it should be taken again, now that is ridiculous poor reffing no matter what is said. Stormers at one point created a good rolling maul which was going forward but the call was obstruction, a rebels player came from the side of the maul which is wrong, the aussie commentator mentioned it and said it was poor reffing. Just before the penalty try Higginbotham clearly knocked the ball forward out of the players hands therefore the try should'nt be allowed. I believe consequences will come to the refs one day. CHARGE THE REF MONEY!

Brilliant! Why has no-one thought of this before? Make the refs pay for their mistakes! That will tempt more competent young refs to turn professional!

Tell me, Lucid, what will you and all the other squealing ref-bashers have to say when no-one is prepared to ref rugby games anymore because they're not prepared to take the ignorant and incessant abuse? Would you and the other couch-dwelling lager-swilling dim bulbs - who all think you know better than the professional refs - prefer to see rugby played without any referees at all? Is that what you're aiming for? Huh?

Has it ever dawned on any of you squealing ref-bashers that it's almost impossible for every single ref on the planet to be an incompetent moron and perhaps it's just a very difficult and unrewarding job? Hmmmm?

lucid I agree the ref was bad, but regarding the penalty kick. If a kick is unsuccessful and the ball is NOT dead then play goes on, so if the ref allowed the "sneaky" maybe legitimate play to carry on the Rebels would've scored a try.

I remember Braam van Straaten taking a quick tap after the other team thought he is going for posts and he scored.

I still blame the loss on JDV poor captaincy by not going for posts and building up some points maybe a lead.

Thanks Lucid I suspected the worse when ou rooitwit mentioned the decision was debatable. Seems the ref had a shocker (Was he another kiwi ref?). One has to salute Redsman for his integrity. Ou that ou rooitwit had just a little of this fine quality!!!

No doubt the refs performance will be reviewed and nothing at all done. The system ou rooitwit so happily endorses. But if the Stormers complain its another fine. What a system!!! Only a complete hatter can endorse all this.

I always say before the season starts - ref and injuries permitting. How wise that is. However one could add - coach permitting as well. I have hower been doubtful about Allistair right from his initial appointment. But given a reasonble injury run and decent refs it could still have been a good season dispite ou Allistair.
