stormers have no one but them selves to balme for such rubbish rugby.

under 20 mins to go, down by 14, stormers get a penalty and go for a penalty goal.

9mins to go, down by 7, stormers go for another penalty goal.

WTF is wrong with them, SARU should fine the stormers for impersonating rugby players, with deon fourie to get a pardon for being so freakin awesome. he should be a Springbok.

Well said sasuk, Stormpies were absolutely horrendous and JDV's decisions are baffling???? As for their replacement scrummie kicking the posession away with 2 minutes to go, what a plonker.

But what worries me the most is that JDV is the guy whos gonna lead the Bokke in the upcoming Championship....bad move HM.

Sasu

I agree with you completely.   Did the Dtormers have a game plan - definitely not.   I have to say one thing though - I believe that their backline was putrid - starting off with De Villiers and inclusive of De Jong.  No attacking plan - no system at all.

I am beginning to agree with Dave - time foir a thourough housecleaning to commence.   Start with the captain - two attacking players ran straight through him.   The Stormers rode out their luck - and they have to say that on todays performeance - the Rebels second squad would have beaten them convincingly.

Peter Grants hospital pass to Jean Devilliers summed up hte game plan in the backline- clueless.

It was comical- as JP had all the time in the world to line him up- and even worse Jean got tackled in the back- and was in obvious pain when he was tackled- I though that was hysterical.

Although the pass by Jean to setup Aplons try was good- he drew the whole backline out - and then passed to Aplon to walk over.

JPs try was excellant as well, and some people were saying that he is not good at outside center. He cut the Stormers backline to shreds.

I posted a thread earlier in the season stating that this type of rugby was going to catch up with them and it did today. Any team that can get ahead of the stormers in the first half can beat them. Time to flush Coetzee and Fleck. The man only has one game plan.

While I agee ,and have said as much many times, that Coetzee and Fleck are pretty clueless their one trick game plan might have worked.

I have always thought that they need more on attack and yet they kept winning and topped the log. That in fact made them the best team over the length of the comp.

The Stormers came back so strong in the second half that they almost managed to draw leveland given the level of their dominationin the final quarter would surely have won in extra time. In fact the game hinged on two  incidents. The mistake of Joe re Ludik and Jean being held up over the try line.

As always the side winning is incredible and the side which just lost useless.

I do trust nobody is going to suggest that  this sharks team would have won had had Burger and Vermuelen been on board. Hence my conclusion that as much as I did not enjoy the brand of rugby and as much as I think we sell ourselves short by being poor on attack, this game plan could have won the comp provided we had a full strength pack in pace.

As for Jean another great game. Man the guy still has great pace as he showed in catching Mvovo. Hard luck Jean!

Sharkbok Coetzee was the Bok  backline coach but  flopped completely and Jake had to bring in Eddie who immediately improved our backline play. Coetzee on the basis of this failure was made WP coach and the twits in charge fouled up with a real rugby brain Rassie who, like Mallet before him couldn't take the rubbish and departed.

Coetzee is a decent guy but is no rugby brain and neither he nor   Fleckie is able to coach a backline. Add to that all the backlne players we lost and it is a credit to the guts of the players themselves that we topped the log.

Our was a simple gameplan based on defence and a great goalkicker and was depedenton a dominant pack. While the pack performed well without Burger and Vermuelen their absence was in the end the deciding factor when it counted plus a very poor performace from Joe.

ha ha ha ha Beeno thats a crack up bru. I hope you are not suggesting that the Sharks wouldnt have won if Burger and Vermuelen were playing. Deon Fourie had an awsome game I think so you really are missing nothing. Vermuelen is good, but he aint that good that he will change a whole game. Sharks can say "well we would have won by more if we had Lambie and Jordaan!" Its depth and heart that wins you this competition. Not a 1 tracked game plan. Everyone has injuries, Sharks are just better than the Stormers. No matter how you look at it. 3 out of 3 games this year we have been the better team on the park. Sure the 1st one was a kick fest that Sharks lost but I believe the Sharks looked the most likely to score tries. If Lambie had to come back for next week, I still believe Ludik should play and Pat should come off the bench..Gota play the guys on form and there is nothing wrong with the form of Kolisi and Fourie so put you excuses away, take a deep breath and say, "Sharks, you are the better team and I wish you luck!" If stormers dont shake things up there, I see them scrambling next year. A good attacking team will always beat a good defensive team..Cant tackle all match...

@beeno1,

its all speculation, but no one know who would have won if who was fit and what not, like boklogic mentioned, if lambie was playing that could have hurt the stormers even more.
IMO all the semi finalists would have beaten the stormers as i had mentioned many times before, but i did pick the stormers to do the job against the sharks due to the homeground advantage and the travel invloved with the sharks to date. but even under those circumstances, the stormers find new ways to underwhelm us all.
its really quite impressive the type of mindset involved with the stormers to go for goal when awarded a penalty and ur down by 14 with under 20 mins to go and when they were down by 7 with 9 mins left, i was like surely theres no way they will go for another goal when awarde a peanlty. how is it possible to be so shocked and not surprised at the same time.
i also hope u stormer fans shout deon fourie all the beers for the rest of his stormers life, cos he has been the heart and soul of what is otherwise a zombie styled team. deon fourie should be bismarcks back up in the Boks.

Good one Beenkop - good to see the usual crap come out of your mouth. Stormers would have won had Schalk and Vermeulen played - what complete bullshit. Schalk is a hasbeen and Vermeulen is no better than Kolisi and Elstadt. Vermeulen would have played 8 and would have made no difference to the score at all.

The Sharks were superior in every department

Crazy how a team can win more games in a season than any other in Super Rugby history and get absolutely ridiculed for a bad game. I agree Stormers did not play well, but they were in the game at the end with a shout despite not having their best. If they had been on form, things would have been different. Ludik try was far too easy - Pietersen has been much better under the high ball all year - and even the JP Pietersen try was a defensive breakdown from over pursuit. Give than guy an inch and he's just too strong and quick

Backline coach needs to go, but Coetzee and Nienaber need to stick around - absolute rubbish to call for their heads after that season - game plan was there for the players to succeed and they didn't come through. Pietersen and Grant for me had their worst game of the season. Lineouts were also very disappointing - Bekker and Etzebeth should have dominated - kudos to Kankowski (if he doesn't get a look at 8th man in the Bok setup it will be a national tragedy).

Deon Fourie reminds me of Broussouw before the knee op, but a better ball carrier and more physical in defence. Will be interesting to see if he gets a look as a Pocock / McCaw neutralizer

If................... could...........................would. The game does not wait for you until everything falls in places and the stars are in line, and the coffee is boiling, etc, etc, etc. You have to perform and produce at the time that when you are require to perform, otherwise ship out.

Oimatey when your side has been wining as much as the Stormers have this season there are bound to be a few bruised egoes around. Windpomp and the bulle herders set out in high hopes at the beginning of the season. The Stormers were toast they said and the bulle were all legends was the consensus view. Bwahahahahahahha now that the Stormers lose a close match due to the loss of key players they pop out of the woodwork and are all over you like a scruvy rash! Hahahahahahaha so predictable.

Ou saffex is such  a dope he thinks Kolisi is better than Schalk and Deon better Vermulen and never mind the effect on the bench.  Young babe in arms Du Toit must be on the bench for the Boks, chilli boy is da man, jean is useless, Burger a hasbeen and Vemuelen ditto at about 25/6, Juandre is a great  lock! Hahahahahahhahaha has this guy any clue at all. Priceless stuff from ou snapster  - not the sharpest pencil in the box for sure!!  Pure gossip girl level stuff!! Hahahhahahahaha

I am glad that journalist spelt it out for snapster but predictably he continues with his sewerage type dribblings. So superior were the sharks in all aspects that although Kitshoff scrummed well and Malherbe stabilised the scrum the sharks front row slaughtered our scrum says ou snapster. The complete twit notices not the flat contradiction one post to the next. I am still laughing Bwahahahhahahahaha what a dope!

So one mistake by Joe cost us the game but the sharkies were superior in all aspects. Hahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha  - keep em coming snapster this is sidesplitting stuff!!!
Face up to facts the sharks were on the ropes at the end and were fortunate not to have the game taken away from them . It was very close indeed.  That with a depleted pack as the journalist noted.

I personally think the Stormers sluggish first half wasdue to the two weeks rest. We have seen this effect with one weeks rest. Some mention the sharks travel but not this - being a bit on eyed I think.

But good luck Sharkies go and kick some chiefies butt!  Unlikley but possible in myview

Beeno keeping it real as always.

as doc graven use to say look at the scoreboard. sharks won the stormers did not. only the self proclaimed mighty stormers supporters think that somehow that this season was for them a great season but one is only as good as your last game. nothing great on the way how the stormers play. old allister coetzee was in charge of another "mighty" they were so mighty that they were bottom of the 2rd devision log. so much so that they had a name change.
