Two Joe penalties not into touch....some atrocious box kicking....scrumming penalties. And Joe's certain goal kicking form went wobbly

The culprits were Duvenage, Pietersen and Kitshoff who was back to being a penalty machine. The high tackles just after the half didn't help either.

This was almost the reverse of the usual circumstances, with the Stormers showing the backline prowess and the Blues playing tight and making their kicks.

From a  player  standpoint....Jean....nuff said. I thought Bekker was huge again, Vermeulen and Elstadt. Etzebeth was understandably rusty. We saw the limitations of a small wing when turned around, as Aplon struggled....and Ranger pulverized him down the line. But Habana after a few early mistakes was excellent, and will be back for the Boks.

I shuddered when Schreuder and Jantjies came on. But Schreuder was a bit more  fluent than usual. Jantjies did nothing positive, but to blame him for that last drop, is pure ignorance. Still, there are too many Stormers  off the bench who really are a step back. ...Jantjies, Schreuder, De Allende (today), Ntubeni, Carr...they gum up the works.

For me Mozzie, the turning point was in the first half when Bekker went for a line-out instead of clawing back the Blues lead with a penalty on offer under the sticks!

For the Blues, Ali's decision to go for a similar lineout instead of taking the 3points on offer to give them 18points with a 1point buffer (had the Stormers scored 2 converted tries) almost cost them in the end!

Agreed the decision making sequence made no sense. They eschew the easy penalty under the posts to set up the lineout 10 metres out. Then take the hard penalty at the posts, when they could have set up the same lineout....not exactly Euclidean logic.
