This game was played in heavy rain - but the Sharks thoroughly deserve their victory.   They were bettr in most aspects of the game and they scored three tries to prove that.   However, the Stormers need despeartely some new players in their backline.   Playing Francis at flyhalf was a disaster - he kicked away aimlessly 70% of their possession and that was probably the main reason for their loss/   They need to remember that aimless kicking is disastrous - the topmost example being the try scored by Jordaan.

I think the time is ripe for the Newlands crowd to start demanding better performance by their team.   Kicking away of possession is not the answer - end of story.

Sharks B-team(nearly) beats Stormers 1st team(nearly). With all the Sharks national call ups the Stormers at home should have been strong favourites. However the Sharks have now worked out how to beat the Stormers defence. It is all down hill for the Stormers from here- we have your number!

Well Boklogic, WP did dominate territory and possession so it was a very good "moral" victory" for them. LOL.

The fact is that WP supporters should be very worried. How could they not beat a team thrown together in the last few days, with only 2 practices behind them???

Stu, I dont get to watch the Currie Cup games. They dont air them here in NZL but I did read up on it and the common census was that WP did dominate the stats but fortunately for Sharks, stats dont matter ;-)

So who looked good for the Sharks this early on??

Nothing better than getting one over WP...I enjoy it more than when we beat the Bulls but only just ;-)

Not long now and Beeno is throwing in the WP/Stormers towel and jumping on the Sharks bus. One can only take so much losing ;-)

The Sharks win was thanks to a brilliant performance at 10 by Riaan Viljoen. clever tactical kicks set up all three Sharks tries. The ref was shocking and the Sharks won despite his best intentions to win it for WP.

Beeno always says the WP / Stormers should win every game bar injuries and refs. Well in this one the Sharks won despite the crooked ref.

As for WP, Liebenberg and Fourie are both cry babies and a disgrace. Fourie should be cited be deliberately throwing the ball into Prinsloo's face....right in front of the assistant ref and Liebenberg should just stop whining. That thing is a total twat!!!

Stu

I agree with you about the Liebenberg incident - if I was the ref he would have been RED-CARDED.

However, from a strictly objective point of view - the backline performance of the WP team and the constant DONKEY-KICKING handing over possession to the Sharks were shockingly bad.   It destroyed the whole WP efforts and I would drop that flyhalf like a hot potato.

Under the high ball the Stormers were useless.

One more thing - for Jordaan to outsprint  Aplon over 55 meters with a ball in hand showed some real speed - he really was tops when he played.   Was watching the Olympics also - why was he replaced?  Was he injured?
