A strange contest. The Hurricanes made so many infractions it was hard to really judge the game. Honestly the flat Hurricane's defence was also borderline much of the game and led to some of those intercepts. The chip behind could have created chaos versus those static, lateral moves against a flat defence.
Neither van Aswegen or Francis impressed me. Habana wasn't a factor and Jean had a mediocre game. But Joe Pietersen was class, and Aplon's try a thing of beauty. We so often dismiss this guy's heroics, but do we have another player who would have scored that try?
In the forwards Liebenburg remains a penalty machine. But the rest were solid. For a youngster Kitshoff was impressive as were our two locks. Bekker is the best lock in the country, the Bools fans will never admit it though. The lineouts and mauls were tremendous. And we got plenty out of the scrums, mostly because the Canes props were so undisciplined.
Unfortunately it all comes at a huge cost with Schalk's very serious looking knee injury. I fear that may be his Super 15 done and dusted.
