The two Stormers centres outgained their Shark opponents....65m to 52 m. They made 2 clean breaks (one each) to none by the Sharks. And they beat 3 defenders to 2 by the Sharks.

I continue to believe Fransie, whose man beaten was Jantjies, will struggle to do anything against top quality opponents. He doesn't appear to have any defined technique , except running straight into the first defender.

I love the sound of squealing Stompie supporters after their overrated and crap team gets beaten!

Sniff . . . we were the better team at half-time!

Boohoohoo . . . we had [insert name of hopelessly overrated and useless Stompie player] injured . . . it's so unfair!

Blub blub blub . . . the naughty ref was horrid to us . . . sniff . . .

The Stompies won the statistical battle . . . bleat bleat bleat . . .

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha!

BUNNIES!

I am not sure about those stats -  I never saw any line break by De Villiers - the only real one was by De Allende.   Steyn destroyed all possible positive backline play by the Sharks and the only player of theirs that showed something in running with the ball was Jordaan.

I was horrified by what I saw of Steyn - he was unbelievably bad for backline play on Saturday and was effectively outplayed by a rookie.

All the SA Franchises backline play this weekend was putrid and not a credit to rugby in this country.   I really do not blame Lambie for the poor Sharks backline display - the whole problem was that Francois Steyn hogging  the balls - he was totally ineffective.   The fact that he beat Jantjies in one tackle mans nothing - name me a player who has not beaten Jantjies in tackle situations if you can,

That confirms just how inaccurate or how stats paint little of the real picture. It was not a game where centres stood out, but one certainty is that Frans was the best of the 4 centres.

He was to only centre to beat a defender and yes it was straight over Jantjies. Jean once again did absolutely nothing all game. de Allenede and Jordaan also failed to make an impression.

I keep telling everyone that its hard work to make an impression as a centre in the modern game.

Frans stands out as our only worthy centre at this stage. The Stormers need to wake up and return Jean to 12 if they have to play him for he is ineffective at 13. Move de Allende to 13.

If we were picking a Bok centre pair based on the weekends showings, Frans walks it at 12, with none of the 13's worthy. My call would go to Serfontein at 13, who with his only touch of the ball broke a tackle.

Mike stop speaking complete and utter shit. I am a Jordaan fan but he has been completely ineffective in his last 2 games. I actually thought he looked really small amongst the centres and reckon like Sadie, he will struggle at the highest level.

Frans was the only centre who had a solid game. Your take on him is complete and utter rubbish, in fact its insulting

I have to disagree. The stats are part of regular data gathering exercise, and provided under license to demanding customers. They cant be taken neat, but together with careful viewing of the game....provide a reliable picture of what happened.

These numbers all agree with my immediate take, de Allende gained more metres than his fellow centres yesterday.

Saffex

Steyn at 12 means the end of attacking backline play .   Last year the Sharks had a very good attackling back line - this year in two games their backline showed zero ability.   I wrote last year that if the Sharks backline fails this year it will be due to Steyn being introduced at 12.   In the first two games in Super 15 - the Sharks backline was completely neutralized by Steyn.

There is no way that center play should be bogged down by a center that thinks if he runs at oppostion they would vanish - De Allende had his number every time and despite what you said he was in all respects better st 12  than Steyn.
