Strauss has failed

At the start of the international season I called for Strauss to be captain...mainly out of a lack of options, but I got it wrong. I don't want to sound like I am joining the lynch mob after Saturday's performance, because Strauss was not only poor then, but all year. Purely from a playing performance point of view he has been very poor, but it is his performance as captain that has been most disappointing for me. He just seems to be unable to assert himself. And when the chips are down real leaders step up. He is not doing that. 
If his abilities as captain are questionable, and his performance as a player are consistently poor, then why is he in the team?

We have probably the second best hooker from the SuperXV in the squad, but he isnt even i nthe match day side.

To settle the kriel vs louw issue, i'd play both.
If the Lions can successfully play Kriel with Tecklenberg, then the Boks can play Louw and Kriel!

I agree with you about Strauss – he was disastrous – but so was  Beast as well.     I would say that the team needs drastic change to make it a real proposition:-

15  Kriel, 14 Pietersen 13 De Allende, 12 Van Rensburg, 11 Habana, 10 Goosen, 9  De Klerk, 8 Whiteley, & Tecklenburg/Labuschagne, 6 Kriel,  5 Du Toit, 4 Etzebeth, 3  Koch, 2 Marx, 1 Kitshof

That would mean that we have a functional backline plus a good loosie combination.

Strauss has been useless since he arrived at the Bulls. He had one of two decent games- but he is a fat shadow of his former self.
The plodder is too slow to get to the ruck these days. He also never gets involved in the loose anymore- which was probably his strongest area. 
I think after this year so far this year- someone needs to get the Axe
If a quota has to be on the bench, then promote Marx to a starting point and drop Strauss off at the local KFC 
It is the Smit/Bismarck fiasco all over with an extra twist
