Super 15 - 2014

The competition starts on 15 February 2014 - in other words in 85 days time.   What are we going to write about in the meantime?   Last year discussions turned unpleasant - so lets have peace during the quiet period - please.

There is in between still the Dubhai 7's and the Nelson Mandela 7's that could help out and a festival of cricket over the next three months that can keep us busy.  

However, what I will miss in between is my quiet way of needling the MZ members of the site.   Let me start immediately - the sight to see today was McCaw going for a tackle on an Irish player and ending up on his backside after the tackle.  Now please explain that one to all of us.

I like the way the Cheetahs play the game - they were the only SA Franchise this year who endeavoured too play a comprehensive 15 man game.   The linkage tween their forwards and backline players really caused problems for many teams they played against.  Even though they have a relatively small squad they did better than most of the  the big squad teams.

Problem was they had to play there core team players week after week. and towards the end of the season it was clear that some of their players were  tired out.

I think they will do well again this year and will probably get the better of a number of the big name teams - especially in Bloemfontein.  

With Goosen back that backline of theirs looks good to me.

All the franchise teams have  pre-season matches - most have at least 2 - but these are used to blood more junior players and bring them into the system - as well as having a look at what they can produce.  

However, enjoy it while it lass - the Less-than-Mighty Chiefs will not make the finals next year   

 ...not so clever mike...you make out you know something about pre season rugby but provide very little evidence...who else has pre season games organised pray tell...give me some dates and who's playing...thanks mate..

...and the Mighty Chiefs proved you wrong last year and the year before that so you would be the last person to ask about who will make next years finals... with yr head in the clouds maybe just stick to speculating on yr fantasy rugby...

Dear lady - sure McCaw made 16 tackles and missed 2 - but it is one of the misses that made him sure looking funny.

Have a nice holiday in Knysna and whilst there try and open up your mind a fraction.   Know it is difficult for a stooge to do - but at least try. 

Will miss you in December - who else can I take the Mickey out of with you being absent? The other members are untouchable and you are a funny guy.

I live about 200 meters from the beach and tidal pool.  In my long life I have been to every part of SA and Namibia - as well as Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland - have never been to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia though.   Have been all though Europe and Australia and Asia - so there is still South and North America to go too.

Am hoping next year to take some rugby tours with the Springboks - and go to Russia, Austria, France again and also throw in India and China as well.   But as a pensioner money is a problem - so that is at present a hope.

Will be at home this year for the festive season and avoid Ballito like the plague - using my home swimming pool instead. 

While at Knysna - go to Plet and organise a boat trip up the Keurbooms River - one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen.   Enjoy.
