The highlanders - Bulls game

Thias is a game where skill trumped Mozart's ideal game - the Bulls controlled their own throu ins in line outs and they had a clear upper hand in scrumming - so why did they lose?   Firstly because op poor ball skills and no idea about what to do with balls.   The forwards showed nothing in that Department - too many balls given away by atrocious ball handling and no show in driving mauls.   The backline players - other than Potgieter - were even worse.

This type of game can be played with a limited chance of success - provided the players at least display some skills and the forwards show some strength in driving mauls - certainly both were absent from view this morning.

The further Hougaard stays away from the wing position the better it would be for the Bulls - his defense was POOR.   Serfotein made one good line break 0 but for the re t showed nothing.   Engelbrecht showed nothing in attack at all.   To their credit it must be added that the defense of both were sound.

The Highlanders thoroughly deserve the win - they did what the Bulls could not do - use the little ball possession to maximum advantage.

The Reds-Brumbies game

The Brumbies were all over the Reds in the first half and at half time lead by 19-6.   In the second half they ran out of steam - but hung onto a win.   Not a game that will be long remembered - the two teams tried desperately hard to see who can make the more errors in the game.

I think Anscombe had a good game - the little good balls he got he used well.

The Chiefs - Rebels Game

The Chiefs were all over the Rebels s in the first half and at half time lthey had a very good points lead..   In the second half they ran out of steam - but hung onto a win.   Not a game that will be long remembered - the two teams tried desperately hard to see who can make the more errors in the game.

A real repeat what happened in the Brumbies - Reds game

Western Force  - Waratahs Game

The game where the Honeybadger managed to beat the Waratahs.   The Waratahs seems tired and although they had most ball possession in the first half -  they managed to be the worst ball handlers I have seen for a long time.

The Force's defense was magnificent.  They really deserve their victory.  They should be lauded for having for the first time since they were admitted to play Super Rugby - they won 5 games in a row.
