Hurricanes vs Brumbies

Lets face facts most of us were mislead by the huge margin of the Brumbies win against the pathetic Chiefs.  We should have taken note though - the Rebels beat the Brumbies in Round 1.   The Hurricanes showed the Brumbies up for the really pathetic team they really are.   They used  their backline to perfection and they prove to be very fast and dangerous.    very good victory and the Hurricanes deserve all the accolades they deserve.   Barrett, Laumape and Ardie Savea looked very good,

Rebels  vs  Highlanders

I could not see how the  Highlanders could win this game.   The Highlkanders first two games were not at all convincing.   The won rather narrowly against the Chiefs who are still on the bottom of the full log and was very unconvincing against the Reds in Round 2.   The Rebels in Round 1 beat the Brumbies.   Be it as it may - there were only one really outstanding player in the highlanders team - namely Frizell.

Chiefs vs  Sunwolves

The Chiefs were pathetic - they lost another one badly - not even a bonus point,   Their key players Retallick and Mackenzie were both as bad as the team as a whole was.   Worthy of their bottom of the log position,

Reds  vs  Crusaders

The Crusaders did better than the Highlanders and the Chiefs did,   However. there was an incident when Van der Westhuizen made a mess not allowing a try by the Reds under the polls.  Then there was that Mo-unga incident when he was not allowed back as an injury replacement,   Not sure whether the refereeing was up to standard in this game.  Not all that of a convincing victory though.   Was not a pretty match to watch

Lions  vs  Bulls

Last week I thought the trip back from Argentina had a negative impact on the Liosn and that was the reason for their loss against the Stormers,   This week the Bulls came back from Argentina and thrashed the Lions.   Poor performance by the Lions of whom I expected much better - a poor performance by a team going nowhere fast.   Fact is their loosie combination has been shown up as poor and so was their backline.  Jantjies and Mapoe was pathetic.

Sharks  vs  Stormers.

I could not agree which team would win this one and on Superbru selected the Stormers to win by 3 points,    The problem here  was that I did not trust the Sharks forwards to produce the goods - they were up against three class acts in Etzebeth, Du Toit and Schickerling - while ther backline is jeopardized by Esterhuizen.    Not a very good game to watch - the conditions were somewhat poor.

Jaguares vs Blues

The Blues did better than I expected - but still lost against the Jaquares.   I think there most serious problem is they lack pace.   They have a chance  to play the Sunwolves in Round 4 to start an upward movement on the logs.   Rieko Ioane in that outfit looks weak and uninspiring. .

This Chief Story was a show the NZ rugby supporters would not like to comment on.

At least the NZ teams won two matches this round.   I do not think the Blues has a chance to wbeat the Jaguares though,

For your sake I hope the Blues win - but would not put any money on that happening.

Good performance from the canes. As I Said they are a different side with their Abs. And prob well improove the most over the season.

Cheifs are a mess right now. Even worser againgst the Sunwolves. I Don't know what it is. Just fundamental errors. The New Blues.

Blues look better then last season. But same old story. Too Ill-Disciplined, and too many errors.

Saders as much as I am a Canes man, look the early frontrunners again.

Landers good too me, they were missing their ABS.

Luke

I think the initial game of the  Hurricanes send cold shivers down my back and they had a weird team against the Crusaders,   So they will likely be better than expected,

The Chiefs were so horrible against the Brumbies it gives one a distorted image of the "strength" of the Brumbies and hid away their many real weaknesses .

There is no way any AB returnees will help the Highlanders weaknesses to vanish,  They looked very, very average and indications are they would not make the top 8 play-offs,

I have a problem with the Blues - they have the armaments - but is seriously defective when it comes to pace.

I have been seriously disappointed in number of AB's playing thus far,   Retallick was way below expectations and so was MacKenzie and Mo-umga, while Rieko Ioane was poor as well.   I am seriously impressed by Goodhue and Bridge and that youngster Ennor seems to be a class act.

You guys seem to be enjoying the shyte positions of the NZ SR teams. On another thread, a while ago, I made a remark about Lomu. Someone was chest beating about him never scoring tries against us. I said that while our guys were patting themselves on the back about stopping Lomu, Cullen was busy scoring tries. It’s the same story again. While we are celebrating their poor SR results they are busy preparing to fuck everybody over again at the RWC in Japan.

The Dimmest ever on Site

We are discussing Super Rugby performances here - nothing to do with the  WC.  Then also you have always been a dim idiot - as you would not know the  difference,

Incidentally you have to be the universal dunce on site - we all know that Cullen scored 10 tries against SA over a six year period-playing in 10 of the matches played.   A good record no doubt - In the period you referred to the AB's played 18 tests against SA - that puts Cullen's record in some perspective.

Before you preached idiocy - THINK!!!!!!!

Even though my Lomu/Cullen remark went straight past ou Maaikie’s manboobs and over his flat head, I will entertain it for a while. Cullen and Lomu teamed up against SA on fifteen occasions. The ABs won ten of those. Lomu scored no tries and to this day we are patting ourselves on the back for it, loosing sight that Cullen in particular scored ten tries to beat us 10 times out of 15. The point is that while we were watching Lomu, it freed up space for others to score. What I’m saying is that while we are watching SR and beating our chests over the supposedly inferiority of the NZ teams, NZ is busy getting themselves ready for the RWC. “Thou calledst me dog before thou hadst a cause . But since I am a dog, beware my fangs.” - William Shakespeare.

Beeno

The fuckwit is too dim to wroite anything original and he does not think about anything he quotes,  He is still too dim to realize what he said about Cullen and Lomu - even after I gave him the facts.

One should pity the poor bugger - he does know nothing about rugby and less about ever ything else.

The focus you talk about is on Super Rugby - if we want to discuss the WC we can wait till the squads are being announced.  That is 5 months from now.   I am sorry I was so nasty to you - but lost my cool because this is the normal ceradunce approach.

If you know nothing about something - turn around and introduce a totally unrelated topic.  Please -if you do not understand Super Rugby as a topic of discussion just keep quiet.

New Zealand are also fazing their All Black players in. Apparently they are only allowed to play one half of a game in the earlier stages of the tournament.

I do think that New Zealand are starting to feel the effects of players going overseas, and it is debatable if they have the forward depth for 5 teams. Auckland for example usually lack a tight 5 that can compete on tours, and are usualy only competitive in New Zealand

That is your biggest problem. You only select to notice context when it suits you. I have not tried to discuss the 2019 RWC. I merely drew a comparison in trying to explain the results of the NZ teams in the 2019 Super Rugby season but, as I eluded to in earlier posts, you are so blinded by hatred that you failed to understand that. It is too much for your pea brain to understand a comparison while maintaining your blind hatred. And understand this. I do not give a flying fuck about what you think of me. As long as you keep on behaving like a petulant child I will keep on grinding you. It is actually great fun.

“Posted by: sharkbok (8529 posts) Mar 03, 2019, 14:26 New Zealand are also fazing their All Black players in. Apparently they are only allowed to play one half of a game. ” Exactly. No matter how much we dislike the idea that NZ are our masters as far as rugby is concerned, they remain on top of their game. They are always busy preparing themselves for the inevitable. They have never been struck down by retiring players. They are always making sure that they have measures in place. An exodus of experienced players due to retirement or whatever has never been much more than a minor hiccup for them. This is exactly what is happening here. I also used to join the band about NZ not having won a RWC title for so many years following their first win in 1987. I used to take the piss at them relentlessly for being at the top of the rankings and still without a “proper” RWC title. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, they were getting their ducks in a row. What happened? They now have been at the top of the rankings for God knows how long and they have two consecutive RWC titles as well, with a good possibility of bagging another one, unless someone could upset the cart.

I must say, 2011*

Aside from that, entirely true. The manner in which Australia has fallen to the wayside the past eleven years really opened things up for New Zealand. They used to keep the All Blacks in check. Now, they've barely been more functional than the Boks. In all honesty, SANZAR, in terms of rugby, has collapsed.

@AO. I was actually referring to even long before 2011. Remember by the end of 2007, SA already had two RWC titles in the cabinet while NZ only had the ‘87 one. Us Saffers, to boost, were so “windgat” that we even boasted that the ‘87 one didn’t count because we weren’t playing.

Thankfully I wasn't part of that crowd, but I do remember some of those arguments. Some said the 1986 Cavaliers series was the real World Cup final. Something I have complained about for years is our rugby community's complacency. Couple that with passivity and a stubborn unwillingness/inability to learn and you'll always be playing catch-up.

Cera, it's a good thing we have the self-titled forum moderator to keep our topics on track. I mean, if he weren't here we may end up talking about Meyer, Fat Frans, Morné, Fat Alberts or end up with another of those off-topic threads concerning gardening, family heritage, South African history, politics or Mozart.
