 Sorry to hear about your dad.  Bar the Sharks - who are top of the log at this stage - the performance of the other four SA teams have been dismal.   They are all in the bottom 6 of the log.
Lambie was injured early and since then Jake has been fiddling around with Zeilinga, Steyn and Swiel at flyhalf.  Swiel had minimal game team and was a few times on the ebnch and started once - but was replaced at about minute 55.  The result has been deadly for the Sharks - they struggled to score tries - their backline misfired virtuallt all the time - and most of their wins came from penalty kicks. 
The problem centered entirely around the role of Steyn in the backline.  He was given th goal kicking duties and did well - but the rest of his game was not up to standard - his passing game was not up to standard and he did not knw when to pass balls and when to kick or try and carry balls - he made his first line break in the game against the Crusaders last week and the number of tackles broken was minimal - his tackleing was a horror story (at flyhalf he missed nearly 40% of attempted tackles - at center it was 20% - and he gifted the opposition 24 turnovers in possession and 11 penalties.  
Despite that White stuck with him and on Saturday he was involved for the first time in a line break that lead to the Sharks first try against the Crusaders.  Immediately thereafter he missed a tackle completely allowing Slade to score a try for the Crusaders. 
For the rest White tried Mvovo at full back for a few games and he had reasonable success with that - but the opposing teams have learned where to aim their kicks and the experiment ultimately had less fruitful results.   
Among the forwards - Jannie did his normal - he is in a constant campaign against himself to see how many penalties per game he can give away.  Pieter-Steph was injured early and he has been replaced by Stehan Lewies - who really performed well in the lock position.   He used in the main Etienne Oosthuizen or Willem Alberts as the other locks.  In the game last week he used Alberts at 8 with relatively poor success.  Alberts maintained a very low work rate and was yellow-carded in the Crusaders game.   That meant that since Deysel was red-carded early in the game - the Sharks had to play with 13 players for ten minutes in that game and for 54 minutes with 14 players.
Despite that the Sharks beat the Crusaders - so that was very good news. 
That is basically in brief what i can tell you about the campaign of the Sharks thus far.   They defended well with Jordaan being the top defender in the backline 0 but they have to change and make sure their attack improv es if the want to win the Super 15 trophy.

The tournament started reasonably well for South African teams but then completely fell apart during the middle of the season.
Our back lines inability to pass and catch and vary attacking lines, instead of the predictable crash ball has really haunted our teams in 2014.

The rolling maul has for some reason not been anywhere as effective as it was in 2013, so this has resulted in less tries scored by the forwards.
The Cheetas are the only SA team that have been great on attack but the worst defence of the whole competition. If they had a decent defence they would easily be in the top6
Stormers have been pathetic on attack and also lost their defensive ability. They have since started to drop the conservative mindset and starting to score tries. They should have a decent finish to the season.
The Bulls went on tour and found it was possibale to be even more stupid than what was originally conceived. They lost games that could have been won with totally predictable and poorly executed kick and chases. They do have a new team with lots of new combinations, and are slowly getting better as the season goes on. They should finish strongly and could challenge for the playoffs. 
As summarize by Clevermike, the Sharks have been poor on attack. Their defence has been excellant. Winning last week was a huge surprise after their first 2 tour games where they were poor, even though one game was won and the other could have been. If the Sharks can beat the Blues next week, then they are surely in a very strong position to finish the log on number1. 

APD sorry to hear the news, good to have you back, I wondered where the Colchester boy had gone to.
Swiel has had few opportunities, has been solid when he has, made one great break to set up a try. Jake should have shown more faith in him......by investing in him at 10, instead of Frans who should be playing 12
