 I am not sure how I am getting points on Foxsport. I opened an account but never pursued updating a team each week- maybe next year when I know the players better. I only just got Skye Sports this year so not up to speed with all the players as I was when living in South Africa.

Sasue

Thanks for theinfo.   Just one question - what i that orange cap next to my name for I wonder?

I am still learning the tricks of the trade for in fantasy rugby and am making far too manymistakes for my liking,  Deans uggered my calculations up badly.  I thought Tomame won't be in the Wallaby squad and Mogge will be - so I wen for Tomane in foxposrt - so as to get to the maximum number o players in Round 17 - but got buggered up badly.

Our bankers this week all did badly and I was forced into using Bekker and Labuschagne - who both did well enough - but am not very happy with Piutau and Luatua,   And definitely not with Serfontin and Genia.  However, I think Serfontein had a better game than his points indicate - but will keep on praising him unduly - because I do not want another fight on this Board about him.

By the way - I thought that White would have worked outhow to deal with Folau and left him in the team - but changed the captaincy.

 The Boss and Sleeping Giants 38th and 90th in the world is very impressive.

Congrats to Canrugby for high round score this week in Testrugby.

My opponent this week in the Cup is strong - hehas already played his Wildcard and only has one player on his whole roster that would play in Round 17 - seems like a lot of people may be caught out that round. Considering changing my strategy to playing the wildcard before Round 17 instead of afterwards as it is proving difficult to accumulate players who will play in Round 17 and also maintain a consistent weekly performance. The inclusion of Horne in the squad doesn't make things easier. Playing the wildcard before Round 17 will mean that best case scenario you would be one roster spot short in Round 18 as long as no one gets hurt during the Test series and all 8 you had on your bench ended up starting that round so there is a significant risk

Sasu - your thoughts? since you're in the same situation?

@sharkbok,
are u living in the UK? how long have u not been living in SA??? just being a busybody is all, LMAO, :oP
the team u would have originall selected would still have players playing and those in ur starting 15 still playing will be accumulating players as the rounds carry on.
i can remember during one of the early round in particular where the players in ur team scored really high, but when i looked at ur team, i noticed u werent making any transfers, so i kind of figured u werent rolling with it, lolz, :o)
no need to wait til next year though bro, rugby championship will have a fanatsy comp as well, so hopefully u join the fun, :o)

@mikey,
i had a good feeling that tomane would be in the squad, deans always liked him and only injury stopped him playing in the championship. im shocked about mogg though & i will be recruiting him for sure in rnd 17.

some of the bankers did poorly, but labuschange, afeaki and robinson were their usual reliable selves.
i thought white would work out folau too, but i left folau in cos i thought the stormers who have the best defence in the comp would have worked him out too. my overestimation of the stormers rugby abilities in 2013 has proved costly dor me across all three comps, :o(
i keep debating wether to maybe bench piutau, but the last time i did that, he scored 40+pts and that left a foul taste in mouth, looking at his history amkes it easier for me to retain his services, but he is on a verbal warning, LMAO, :oP

i was unhappy with hornes selection in the wallabies, as i have made an effort to recruit at least one player per round specfically for round17.
this week it was horne, so thats kind of a wasted transfer, but it was blessing in disguise, cos had i thought horne would be recruited, i would have gone for jan serfontein instead, and i have no reservations as to calling his performance like i saw it, he was shit pure and simple, his attack on the back of dominant bulls pack and team for that matter was solid, but ellison and smith cut him to pieces big time, and that was in a team consistently going back. its made me question his credentials at Bok level going forward, cos if he struggled to contain those two in what should have been simple tackle situations, whats he gonna do when NZs creme de la creme are all gathered into one team wearing the dreaded All Black jersey???

@oimatey,
thats a tough one for sure bro, theres a lot of luck involved regarding thedraw of who ur opponent will be, but in ur situation u are trying to weigh up a competitive team vs optimum use of the wildcard and i have weighed up all ur options and here is my two cents worth based on the following,,,

like u said, ur cup opponent j5000 has played his wildcard and currently only has one hurricanes player in his team (relevant cos canes have a bye) ben franks, plus he also has 150k in the bank.
ur two teams stack up like this,,,

oimatey
PR: c oosthuize, j slipper, (r) p cowan
HK: a strauss, (r) j parsons
LK : s luatua. l romano (r) p du toit
LF:  m hodgson, p labuschange, k read, (r) tj ioane
HB: w genia, (r) r kinigi
FH: d carter, (r) k godwin
CT: j willionson, r horme, (r) j oconner
OB: r rnager, c piutau, i folau, (r) b smith

j5000
PR: c oosthuize, b franks, (r) p cowan
HK: g robinson, (r) b maku
LK : s luatua. a bekker (r) l de jager
LF:  s higginbotham, p labuschange, l messam, (r) s cane
HB: w genia, (r) r kinig
FH: q cooper, (r) c leilafano
CT: j sefontein, b aki, (r) j oconner
OB: r rnager, r davis, i folau, (r) c piutau

IMO ur team stacks up nicely against j5000s team, its true he had a decent score last week, but that was thanks to tries to bekker and higgs which was an easy 22 pts and also cos he made robinson his captain which IMO is a very safe play, hookers generally get a very good score, and u cant go wrong by making them captain which j5000 did last week.

u have a few aces up ur sleeve this week, mainly ben smith and the impressive tj ioane and the highlanders are playing the force this week.
given how well the brumbies shut down folau, it would be fair to think the same thing about piutau,so a simple swap there might be in order.
if tj ioane is starting then u can bench hodgson and start ioane instead, he will be needed to counter ur opponents cornell du preez who IMO he will bring of the bench next week, as hes SA version of ioane, if iaones not playing, then maybe a transfer can be used to swap ioane and cornell du preez???

but with all this in mind, theres one thing u need to remember for rnd 17, u only need to get at least 9 OZ players who arent in the wallabies squad and not playign for the reds.
u currently have 3 players, k godwin, p cowan and m hodgson, provided there arent any crazy changes to the spXV teams this week, u are in a good position to recruit hugh pyle lock who has been solid the last few rounds and robinson who is one of those money in the bank players and that will give u 5 for rnd17, plus a chance to recruit some more next week.

one thing to keep in mind is i dont think u will need 15 players to be playing in rnd 17.
it does seem like a lot of people are using their transfers to make their cup chances better, so it comes down to ur prefence.
IMO i would wait at least another round before using the wildcard, but thats because i think ur team stacks up nicely against j5000.
i also think that given how far u have gone, assesing it on a week by week basis is a must, u are currently one of the last 512 people remianing in the cup challenge, so were not really in the same boat, as the cup isnt a goal of mine but it is urs.

one thing i would hate is for u to not play ur wildcard and then have it backfire, LMAO, :oP

good luck no matter how u decide to roll bro, well all be cheering for u, :o)

 Geez bru - nice analysis. Totally didn't expect such a thorough and detailed response. You confirmed a lot of things for me.

Agree with the thoughts on making the hooker captain - only reason I went with Folau this past week is because my opponent had him as captain and I was trying to neutralize that threat in case he had another incredible week.

Like you said - as long as there aren't any crazy lineup changes I should be able to hold onto the wildcard this week :) Will target Pyle, Robinson and/or Foley

Thanks for the help and advise !

@oimatey,

LMAO, :oP

i didnt realise how long my reply was until i was just about to post it, then i thought, jeebersm im gonna put the dude in a coma if it got any longer, :oP

i feel a responsibilty of sorts when it comes to foxsport memebers and given ur our sole rep in the cup, its important u do well, u have produced a meke effort to get as far as u have.
i wont ever forget some of the advice we were given for testrugby, like halfbacks score as well as the flyhalves and props are better then hookers, LMAO, :oD

hopefully team changes this week dont effect u too much, the more free transfers u have the better, :o)

ps chiefs, sharks, force have a bye next week, :o)
