....got the red card he so richly deserved in Orcland for his poorly disguised attempt to take off Jean's head. Could we score 4 tries then? T here are many strange twists in sport, one only has to look at the COC.

u mean if nonu got red carded in the 74th minute of the game would the Boks have scored 4 tries???

no they woudnt have, against the All Blacks theres some kind of mental block when itn comes to attacking, thats why all u saw from them was piss poor kicking from morne and pineaar.

the only time the Boks backed themselves with ball in hand was when time was ticking down and penalties were no longer going to cut it.

havent scored 4 trys agaisnt the All Blacks in almost a decade and only 6 times has the Boks scored 4 or more tries against the All Blacks in 86 test matches.

nonu getting a red card isnt going to change the DNA of Bok rugby.

Believe me if Nonu is red carded at minute 42, like Bismarck, 4 tries are on. And  remember  the COC.

ph i see, so if nonu was red carded for a yellow card offense in the 42nd minute for an offence he committed in the 74th minute, the Boks would score 4 trys.

excuse me while i,,,,

" could we" not " could we have". Get your tense right. I'm speculating whether 4 tries are so improbable, and suggesting a red card for Nonu or perhaps even two yellows for ABs put the target in reach. Nice self image though.

Yes of course we would have.

The big difference between the two is that Nonu isn't half as involved in the game as Bismarck is.

Losing Bismarck was a massif blow, like losing 2 men.

Losing Nonu would only reduces them to 14 men plus he's a back ... not part of the engine room. His main task is to decapitate the opponents.

Actually, I agree 100% with Sasuke and his question is perfectly valid.

Nonu received a yellow card in the 75th minute of the game so he played no further part in the game anyway . . . so in terms of how many ABs were on the field it was in effect exactly the same as a red card. No speculation required.

The Springboks spent the last 8 minutes of the game playing 14 men against 13 and they scored one try in that time. The scenario would have been exactly the same if Nonu (and Read for that matter) had received red cards instead of yellows.

The initial question on this thread is just plain stupid.

  suppose things were reversed and one more brain cell was taken from one of these two and given to the other, the IQ of both would go up.

 Yeah but Moz said if it was reversed. That would mean whatever happened to SA now happens to NZL.
I think he is asking if people think SA would have gotten the 4 tries had NZL had a guy off for more than half the game.
If they did lose a forward with SA's dominant pack, I have no doubt. All other forwards have to work even harder than the 100% they should be giving to compensate. We push their scrum around at strength on strength so imagine how quick they would tire with being a man down against our monster pack. It just opens things up all over the park.

Actually Smallcock, Moffie's exact words were:

"Suppose things were reversed....and Nonu got the red card he so richly deserved in Orcland for his poorly disguised attempt to take off Jean's head. Could we score 4 tries then?"

The commment is still there at the top of this thread for all to see . . . and however you try to spin it, it's still a very stupid question. The answer remains the same, a red card for Nonu would have had zero impact on the result of the game or the Springboks ability to score 4 tries.

Bobbok, I also don' t know what Moffie means by "coc" but unlike you, I'm scared to ask!

 Suppose things were reversed and the Boks actually played with skill and pace. They might then have a chance of beating the ABs........not really going to happen though.

@mozter,

considering the Boks havent scored 4 trys against the All Blacks in almost a decade, its a pretty safe assumption to say no, the Boks wouldnt have score 4 tries.

the last win the Boks had against the All Blacks was back in 2011 when henry sent a B team opting to rest players for the upcoming RWC, Boks pretty much played their A team and they couldnt even score a single try then.

@siones uncles BFF,
lolz, first scrum All Blacks get penalised for head popping up after a good Bok scrum and rightly so.
next scrum All Blacks pressure forces two Bok front rows head to pop up and poite dosent blow the whistle.

saffas wont know this though, cos theyre too busy crying on their facebook pages,  :oP

its a myth to thin the Boks scrum was dominant, All Blacks more then gained parity.

 Good try by Habana Logic but who won that game again?? Remind me please!One good try per decade just doesn't cut the mustard I'm afraid.
