Swiel to Sharks

Rumour is that Swiel has left WP and signed for the Sharks. Jake White working away quietly .

Huge fuck up by WP and Stormers.

The shit van Aswegen and Coleman have had too much backing.

No problem mate.

He was 4th choice at 20 and instead of sitting on the bench, he was getting regular game time in a record breaking WP u21 team that won the Currie Cup.

But he was still very much in the picture for the first team and got a short debut this currie cup. Allister and Fleck have often mentioned him to the media also.

They say he has been badly advised.

Not sure how he is going to fit in at the Sharks but without doubt White's Bishops connection played a role. 

 Very good news for me - a Shark supporter.   I am not sure why White would contract Swiel - unless he has other options in mind.   Maybe he wants to Move SP Marais to wing and use Swiel as full back - or maybe e wants him to alternate with Lambie as flyhalf abd Marais at full back.   One of the best ball sense players I have eve seen - so it would be interesting to see how White intends to use him.

Likely to be a very important player in the Sharks backline next year.  Whatever he does - a backline of the following would be electric insofar as the Sharks are concerned - expect fire works from them next year in Super 15:-

15 Swiel

14 Marais

13 Jordaan

12 Whitehead

11 Mvovo

10 Lambie

  9 Reinach

All the above has serious speed and since they play clever games - thy would be hard to contain.

As I said - I am not sure why the Sharks contracted him - because they have already Lambie and SP Marais as flyhalf and full back.   Swiel can play both - matter of fact from what I have seen of him he is really excellent in both positions.  Maybe it is for backing up those two players.

The other backline player I have not mentioned is Francois Steyn.   I do not know how he can fit into the backline - since he is rather slow as a center.   Despite all the talk about his performance and all the laurels handed out - if you analyse every time he touched the ball and every tackle he attempted - his tackle count and his ball handling during the game was limited and his work rate on the low side -so what White intents to do with him is also somewhat of a mystery.  Probably put him on a strict diet to get his weight down to about 105 kgs and put him on a speed enhancement programme.  From his early days with the Sharks I always was a strong Steun supporter.   On his return from France he was over-weight and slower than I remembered him.  Despite all the criticism - I hope that he would get really back to his form he had before going to France.  If so he would have an excellent chance to regain his previous form.  

Anyway - lets wait and see what happens next year in Super 15.   If Swiel plays - he will be nice and cheap in fantasy selection anyway.

Careful what  you say here - Mozart is not the forgiving oke - his hero and great no 13 - the best in SA at present - is Juan de Jongh.   Since I am past the forgiving stage insofar as Mozart is concerned, I will be frank - the best of that lot you mentioned is Van Awegen - but even he is not anything better than a back up flyhalf -  the rest are not really near even that level.  

Thje worst flyhalf I have ever seen in a CC final was Coleman after he came on as a result of the injury to Catrakillis.

Kolbe is nice to look at and slippery - but at 69 kgs he is way too small to ever play 15 man rugby - he should  be worthwhile in Sevens rugby.  

And what happened?   White picked Far Fransie and he on his own destroyed the Sharks backline in 2014 Super Rugby.   The center that is not a center and a flyhalf who cannot decide on anything but handing over ball possession to the opposition - setting a record in that which will stand for the next 50 years,

End result White got fired by the Sharks after a year because of Fatso.

Frans carried that team in 2014. That was where they were undone, by the passengers. Lambie and Jordaan let the team down.
