Ex Keo.
Jaco Taute will be sidelined for up to three months as a result of a shoulder injury.
The talented utility back sustained the injury against the Force on Saturday and is only expected to return for the Lions’ Currie Cup campaign. Taute tweeted: ‘Surgeon gave me some bad news ill be out for three months! Getting surgery tommorow!’
Taute’s ambitions of breaking into the Springbok squad have also been scratched. He is highly rated by Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer, and while he would not have made the match 22 for the England series he was being considered for selection into the squad.
Taute was one of a few standout players in what is becoming an increasingly diabolical campaign for the Lions. His place in midfield, where he was being asked to plug a hole, is likely to be filled by Butch James, who returns from a four-week suspension.
Hard luck Jaco and the Lions! Stormers sign this guy up before the queens do!
