I know lots of people on this Board rate Taute, and perhaps I have just seen the wrong passages of play. But time and again I see a pretty ordinary player, with the enthusiasm of youth. A sort of Louis Ludik redux. Yesterday was a case in point. Taute does a slow motion stroll into Slipper, ball stripped, try Genia 80metres later. Dave I hope this clarifies the point I was making....meandering slow motion runs get punished.

But honestly, can we really imagine this kid would be in contention for Oz or NZ. And if not, why is he the answer for us?

Typical nonsense on your part. Taute had a good game, was miles better than Jean or de Jongh

But I did have a laugh on your take on Bosman, one of the worst centres I have seen in ages. Just because you like him, we heard about his wonderful pass, its just a pity he cant do anything else.

Taute broke tackles at random as was as busy as ever. You dont like the kid, I happen to think he is great as do most on this board and everyone on the other board - but hey Moz lets take your view on him as gospel, given your authority on centres - Adi and Bosman, need I say more. Fact is Moz you will always find the negative in the kid because I happen to like - its predictable.

Good to see Meyer think he is a hot shot and one of the kids to watch along with Goosen, Etzebeth, Coenie, Coetzee, Stander and JJ Engelbrecht.

Yes of course you think he was miles better than de Jongh. Hell maybe he's even as good as Barrett and Murray hahahaha. Could be he might even eclipse your other hero Meisiekind's one try in 35 tests.

But when that ball bounced into his hands near the line.....another futile slow motion run resulted. And then there was this...." when Jantjies and Jaco Taute conspired to butcher the simplest of tries by getting in each other’s way the writing was on the wall". Sounds pretty inept to me.

De Jongh would have this guy's number, I have no doubt.

Seriously Saf I rate Taute, as a Fullback, not a centre. Moz is right. de Jongh will have his number at centre. As will Paul Jordaan and Sadie on form. Taute is a fullback and he is good there, this playing him at centre I am not so sure about it.

You have to bekidding me, that ball Taute and Jantjies were chasing bounced awfullying into one of their faces - I take it de Jongh would have caught it?????????????

de Jongh has done sweet stuff all all season in a dominating Stormers side. Taute has made more of an impression in fewer outings in a side getting thumped week after week.

Ek, try catch a wake up, Taute is a centre who can play fullback. If you knew your rugby you would know this. He played 13 at school, 13 for the Baby Boks and is now playing 13 and 12 for the Lions. Mitchell has gone on record saying he is a good fullback but will make a great centre.

Meyer has him down as one of the youngsters to watch and who has it.......so I suggest you lot open those eyes and get a grip with reality. de Jongh my arse, the little guy who does nothing week after week, much like Jean who Moz wants at 13 for the Boks, but who keeps making no impression at all. These two are pretty bog ordinary considering the team they are playing for. How many tries have they scored this S15

Hey Saf, I only disagree with you, no need to take it so personal, man.

Only an opinion. At this stage, I still think the one's i mentioned are better centres than Taute. at this stage is till think he is a better fullback, and untill he does something that changes that perseption i will have that perseption.

You degrading my ability to have a different oppinion unfortunately does not change that, only what Taute does will change my opinion of him. I never said he is a crap player, and i like him, However at this stage I like him more as a fullback than a 13. Maybe he does something to change my opinion or maybe he doesn't. I was not under the impression that you needed to fight his battles for him. And If i did say something the Jaco might have taken as me bieng negative towards him, I do appologise to him.

Ek calm down, I dont give a toss about your opinion and the fact that you have failed to pick up on Taute's credentials as a centre

Saffex

I always wonder about you - when people differ from you - you become abusive.   People have the right to their own opinion and as it is I do not agree with many people - but try to remain civil about it.   Now lets get to Taute.   Personally i think the kid can develop into a forceful center and in a way I share your enthusiasm about him   He is not there yet - but he coiuld make it with decent coaching and patience.   He needs to learn something from Jordaan - when you get the ball try to gain speed as quickly as possible - beat the opponents with speed.

I am not sure about scoring of tries by Taute.   According to the Stats at my disposal he scored one try this Super 15 season - but then he is playing for an under-performing franchise.   That means he is not really a house on fire though - hence my comments about development.   I think two years down the line the tussle will be between him, Jordaan and J J Engelbrecht as no 13.   He is not there yet - but he has potential to make the grade on international level.   Meantime I can give you some help to get your glasses cleaned up - so that you can see the real games being played.   Your take on some players are really a bit blinkered.

" How to lose friends and alienate people" starring pork chop Dave....

I actually like Taute - but doing a bit at centre in the Bok under 20's isn't the same as S15, 'los is not doing him any favours playing him at centre, especially not outside such an average flyhalf.

SAFFEX - I do not lecture or make personal suppositions and present them on this Board as facts - neither do I look at games with blinkers on.   I was merely suiggesting mildly that you take note of available stats before you start making statements not based on fact.    Please start from a factual base and you can count on my support - did I not share your viewpoints on Taute - but with a added statement that he should be allowed to develop further.   if he fails after being thrust into selection tpoo early it could have major detrimental affects on his playing career - so give the lad some space.

The best performance I have ever seen of Taute was a try he scored last year - when he was playing at full back for the Lions.   To my mind he has the ability to be a line breaker - maybe he should be at 15 with the speedier Jordaan at 13.   Lets wait and see how it pans out.

Mike, why would I have blinkers on? I see it as I see it end of. I also never buy into the conservative notion that players should be eased into test rugby, if you are good enough, you are old enough. Taute is our best option at 13 so I'd select him at 13 for the Boks, Jordaan is certainly an option.

Its far harder to break the line at 13 than at 15, where players are afforded far more space. Taute has all the skills to make 13 his own. He is quick enough, very physical, has good step and swerve and his hands are good enough for a 13. He is also one of those players who never hides, he is always looking for action.......an attribute he has over Jaque Fourie, who at times went awol.
