Our coach has painted himslef into a corner with his squad seletion of too many players from NH clubs - some totally useless - and he is now in a hole he dug for himself.


So lets see what he may come up with tomorrow:-


15   Patrick Lambie

14   Willie le Roux

13   Damien de Allende

12  Jan Serfontein

11   Jean de villiers

8    Duane Vermeulen

7    Oupa Mohoje

I think he will keep Hougaard on the bench to cover for the wings as well.


In essence this is a stronger team than the one who played Wales in June.  Some sub-par players - like JP Pietersen, Morne Steyn, Willem Alberts, Bakkies Botha and Jannie du Plessis - are gone.    Unfortunately we will have to bear up with Matfiel in that team - seriously problematic

To be honest Mike, I would not half mind seeing that backline. But, I can bet you my lunch money it will never happen.

I view Carr as an impact player more than anything else.

 Oupa is really not up to test standard - typical quota player.  I do not view players selected on merit as quota players - this one is one though.

Let's face it, Mike ... the team you've selected above is based on your hopes. It's not going to happen.

Meyer thinks differently.

The center pair will remain as is. Willie will return to the 15 jersey. Oupa will start.

Not sure who he'll play at 11 ... probably Mvovo but Hendricks will return to 14.

It will be the same old tired bunch. Nothing innovative. Nothing fresh. Nothing daring.

He doesn't go through the whole team sheet, but mentions Beast will be back, Bismarck is likely to start, and Coenie, as Jannie hasn't recovered.


With the limited number of locks on tour it should be Matfield and Etzebeth


Backrow likely to remain the same as last week

We take exciting players like Kriel and Senatla up north ... but not to play though ... just to get to know the "system" ... the "Bok culture" ... whatever that means ... ???

It's a joke. A complete waste of time and money. Apart from the young uncapped guys, I wonder what it cost SARU to get Morne Steyn released and to fly him around Europe for 4 weeks?

Seabelo Senatla has been released to play for the Bok 7s team (which makes you wonder why he was included in the first place) and not even giving Jaco Kriel some bench time is just plain ridiculous. If the Keo team is to be believed then Warren Whitely and Damian De Allende are the other players who just carried bags around Europe for a month. Whiteley is admittedly injured but still, Meyer had a chance to give him a run before he pulled his hamstring while the continued omission of De Allende can only be destroying his confidence.

A botched and mismanaged YE tour if ever there was one.

Forget about JP - he is not available - forget about Senatla - he has been released to the Sevens squad.   So is Goosen not available.   That takes care of three of your selections.

Instead of using the opportunity to test the talented Kolbe out at 15, a skilled and natural 15 at that, he decides to give the useless Goosen a run. 

It's as if your only worth something when your playing abroad.

This man frustrates me like no other.

Meyer made a fool of himself by pickingthe following for the EOYT - after it was clear they did not really make t he grade in the RC.
Hendricks,  Morne Steyn, JP, Bakkies Botha, and Gurthro Steenkamp
I really have n problem with Habana and Goosen - the rest were plain and simply BS.
H took Senatla with - but I think that Senatla may end up being a sevens player - same as Kolbe.   
I am frustrated too - there are too many passnegers in the squad anyway.   Matfield is the one really standing out in that regard.

I cannot remember when was the last time a Bok team was selected and I had no issues with selections.


It certainly didn't happen under PDV and it hasn't happened under Meyer yet.



But then what the hell do we know, we are just the bloody fans who pay for all this.



If you are going to play Mvovo and Hendricks, how can you not give Senatla a shot?


If you are playing Mohoje, how can you not give Carr a shot?


Why is de Allende on the tour?


Why was Senatla there?


To train with the rest, but they won't be part of the Bok squad next year anyway because it seems Meyer has already made up his mind.

Funny that you say that BB, I was chatting to a mate of mine the other day (The Boss) regarding the All Black team and asked him if he would change it in any way.

He mentioned one player. Crotty. 

When we discuss Meyer and his team we usually have a list of 10 or so players we're not happy with.

It's hard to believe that an experienced coach can be so foolish.

Team I would choose given limited choices:
Lambie, Hendricks, Steppie, Jean, Willie, Pollard, flip of a coin.
Beast, Strauss, Redlinghuis, Eben, Victor, Coetzee, Carr, Vermeulen
Flip of a coin, Mvovo, de Allende, Nyakane, Coenie, Lood, Bismarck.

I think that pack looks weak at the breakdown and potentially in the mauls. The backline should be fine. Scrum half is the riddle that can't be solved....which bungler will bungle less.

Now why should that be?   Th answer is so obvious - because of the presence of Victor Matfiekd in the Tight 5.  Now there you have the answer Moart - don't say I did not tell you.
Can you really see Hendricks defending against George North?   That really is a joke selection on his part and Meyer would be stupid to pick that one.
"Flip a coin" is outright idiocy on Mozart's part - and again showed just one thing - his seriously metal-deficient prejudice and lack of knowlegdge of rugby.     He has invented bungles - of which  there is voirtually no evidence - so that is the normal crap in his contributions.
Who will cause most problems for the Springboks on Saturday?  Those on Mozart's list starting with Hendricks - the defensei-d eficient - and Victor - the weakling.
Incidentally the idiot has forgotten that Boshoff is in the squad and there is no doubt he will be on the ebnch.   Whar=t a ravibng idiot that old fart is?
