Thanks For The Memories Tendai
Our best loosehead ever, and I was a big fan of Os. The Beast destroyed England's spirit in that final as well as ensuring a stream of penalties.
New Chapter, and after 2019 there is not much else to achieve. Best to let the next crop of players fight it out for the number 1 position.
Seems it is only international, so maybe he is still available for Sharks - or he is going to get a pension plan overseas.
Why? When did we ever see Os destroy two supposedly top props like Vickery or Coles in huge matches. And guess who Os was scrumming against in the WC final.
I was very young when Os was in his prime, but I do remember his greatness. When I think of Os, I most remember his work outside of the scrum. The Bok scrum in the Lions tour of 97 had a big impact on how I viewed our scrumming prowess, and Os was part of that.
In the end, for me, Beast is #1. I can count on one hand the amount of Boks who have been as consistently good as him. It's almost unfathomable to think how long he has served South African rugby at the highest level. Standing the test of time is the true mark of a legend, like Matfield. Hiw sad it is that he never did receive the recognition he deserved. Whilst our best are ignored, too often abused, our fanbase fawn over myths. I'm just glad he was able to end his career on his terms, as champion of the world. And what a performance to go out on.
OS was better in the loose. Near the end of his career, I saw him get buckled in some of the scrums.
Absolute balls....the collective broke even once Kitshoff and Koch were on. The Beast destroyed their scrum, no one else.

What does a backline poser know about the inner workings of a test level scrum? That's next level Jedi sh!t they don't teach in flyhalf school!...Beast is tungsten, but the rest of props are all world class...our double front row combos probably won the world cup for us...enjoy it for the first week atleast!
The Beast.....1 yellow in 117 tests....pretty impressive for an aggressive prop.
Indeed. I see he is leaving the Sharks too, but hasn't ruled out a stint in Europe yet...the BaaBa match will be his last for the boks.
Bragging rights bumped into him in the hotel foyer in 2015.
Hope you didn't get injured!
Armed with the best sidestep.
