The aging wear and Tear Whitely Crocked again for 8 weeks

Cape Town - The Lions have suffered a massive blow with the news that their captain Warren Whiteley will be sidelined for an extended period.

The 31-year-old left the field shortly before half-time on Saturday and did not return as the Stormers secured a last-gasp 19-17 win over the Johannesburg-franchise.

According to the Lions team doctor Rob Collis, Whiteley has a "torn pectoralis major muscle (left)".

Whiteley will spend six to eight weeks on the sidelines.

This weekend, the Lions host the Bulls in another anticipating South African derby in Johannesburg.

Kick-off on Saturday is at 15:05.

He should at least be ready for the Japanese club rugby season - during Christmas

Not what we want to hear. Was a key Bok last year. We'll need him fit and in good form.

Whiteley is an excellent loosie and an excellent captain , but seems to be injury prone.   He is rather light for the present game and at 31 years of age may not last through another year of rugby/   A pity and I hope everything of the best for him.  

Yes it's annoying to see him injured again. He needed an injury free year this year and because of his constant injuries, people like quota Kolisi slipped in and took the Bok captaincy away from him.

I'm afraid he's also a little long in the tooth and should consider going overseas for the remainder of his career.

Moffie will probably start supporting him now.

Sorry Mozart is on the Vermeulen and Louw bandwagon at present.   He never favoured Whiteley in the past.   

As to the latter two - they are in the ideal age group and poor performances by Louw and Vermeulen is overlooked  and does not count.   Their reputations are the only key issue. 

A bit of a tough round for those who have both Whiteley and De Jager in their fantasy team.

Poor guy.

Pec injury aint the most taxing thing to recover from so hepefully he can get a little rejuvinated during the period as well and be back fresh for the later SR rounds.

Problem is, one can do hardly any gym work when your tit is eina. Leg day after leg day after leg day...sounds like an instagram model

Hope he recovers quickly.

I wonder why he's so prone to pectoral tears ... ?
