A while ago an undertaking by a dicey company Integrated Sport was submitted  to prevent the Union being liquidated.  An investigation revealed that the so-called business plan was a sham and a thread on the issue was denigrated by the normal garbage of Ceradunce - when he tried to discredit the  Herald investigation.

Now the following from News 24:-

The Eastern Province Kings' hopes of a competitive Currie Cup may be dashed following further financial woes.

Netwerk24 reports that the business rescue plan submitted to the Port Elizabeth High Court was withdrawn by the union.

Integrated Sports, a company based in London, said they would invest R100 million into the Union as long as the rescue plan was approved by the court.

The matter will be decided on August 4 in the Port Elizabeth High Court as to what will happen with regards to the future of the Eastern Province Rugby Union.

"The way we had hoped to save (Eastern Province) is now closed and we will have to wait for the final court decision … We will cooperate with the liquidator to seek solutions for rugby in the region." said South African Rugby CEO Jurie Roux.

Eastern Province Academy manager Rob Kempson, said fielding a competitive team will be extremely difficult.

"It will now be almost impossible to field a competitive Kings team in the Currie Cup … Even if the Kings were to play in the First Division, it would be demanding," he explained.

"There are no players with contracts at the EP Rugby Union and the few who remained after the Southern Kings’ campaign in Super Rugby are also off to other teams."

One can only wonder who came up with the Integrated Sport sponsorship – would not be surprised if it was not devious Cheeky being involved.  Howevr , the end game is in sight – the final bankruptcy hearing will be on 4 August.
