Lots of the usual stuff...Allende's defence and dithering when chances presented, Stephanie's ineffective roving out wide and poor hands, Kriel's lack of feel for the situation. All these almost certain Boks are playing hard but still so flawed. And today Pollard and Papier did just enough bumbling to raise more red flags.
Still the biggest concern is Sia Kolisi who looks like a club rugby player.....he is a zero at the breakdown and his defence today was pathetic. Erasmus has a big problem.
The only player who was an effective threat at the breakdown today was Vermeulen.

Just finishing the Stormers game.....hell, Malherbe is running better lines than Allende. And he may not be everybody's cup of tea, but lleyds had a hell of a game.

I never claimed anything about the relative merits of Vermeulen and Dan Deysel Twin .....I said Vermeulen was the only domestic player who was effective on the deck. Which is true....as are all my other comments.
No need to be grumpy just because Tele'a monstered your man Duh Allende, who you were promoting all week. Do you think that will make his highlight video.....hahaha.

What part of 'I didn't compare Vermeulen and Dan Deysel Twin' can't you process? I am simply saying Vermeulen, along with Louw and Marx are our only effective fetchers against WC type opposition. Read....read again....read again....then respond.
As for your take on Coenie I agree, Coenie can't scrum now and has never been able to scrum.....he cost us against Japan because he couldn't scrum.
But nonsense about the Beast.....he was pinged oncefor an early engage, which the ref explained was because the players behind him shoved too soon. For the rest he had the strong upper hand....his side of the scrum was going forward. And he had a great game in general play.

Rubbish Jessie Kriel was once again very good - 4 tries in 7 games has him carrying on his test strike rate from last year.
Am was just as good am a big fan of this lad.
de Allende had a crap game that miss tackle going high was poor but he has been good this season.
PSDT was huge once again with his carries but yes he spilt the odd ball as did many on the day it’s not something we see him do regularly
Kolisi had a crap game but like de Allende has been good all season and was our best carrying forward in tests last year. Big fan of Kolisi

Rubbish Dave, we may have to play the likes of Kriel, Stephanie and Kolisi because the cupboard is bare...but be assured they will screw up. They will be inferior to their top 4 nations opponents. Stephanie at 5 lock has a shot, but he keeps losing crucial lineouts.

Disagree our cupboard is anything but bare we have loosies to burn - far more depth than any other nation.
Our players come over here for instance and end up being the standout players in the club sides here.
Why, because our players are better than the locals. Week after week loosies like Jaco Kriel, Ackerman, Marcel Coetzee, Carr, Jacques du Plessis, Dom Armand, Louw and Schalk Burger stand out

But the guys playing for Wales, Ireland and England are also standout players.....we don't have one test level fetcher. Nor one test level ball carrying loosie. We have a few good generalists like Vermeulen.
Sorry Dave good depth at club level, doesn't necessarily mean we have test players who can take on the world.

How many turnovers have Vermeulen made since the start of the Super Rugby season and bar he first two games his carries have been few and far between. His defense stats are dismal - so to have him based on present performance is meaningless - based on reputation is just not acceptable.
I do believe that the main fetching problem is with Kolisi and we are saddled with him if we like it or not. The only player worth his salt in the Springbok back row are in fact Du Toit. Against the Hurricanes he made 30 tackles missing 3. He was a bit off colour against the Blues - but he played in all six Stormers games staying the full 80 minutes every game and a rest game is overdue, I think from memory he made more turnovers than Vermeulen did this year as well.

Du Toit is a lock playing flank. People rave about the things he does like process runs and process tackles. But in all honesty he does those things no better than other players in the team.....the difference is he is on point.
What fans miss is are the things he doesn't do.....like being a factor at the breakdown. Tackling backline players in space. Chasing up and unders. Counter rucking. Putting pressure on the opposing halves......he puts zero pressure, nada, niks.
Stephanie has always been part loosie, part lock.....a jack of all trades, but master of neither. He is given a rover role, he plays the position as it suits him.......and we suffer the consequences at the breakdown and in the freedom with which opposition halves operate.

The Springboks record with Stephanie as a starter 10 games won/ 15 games lost....1 game drawn. So we have won 38 % of the games he started. Has any Springbok who has played more than 15 games got a 60% lose ratio? Maybe, but it's not good and while one can't argue he was disproportionately responsible.....it's harder to argue he makes a difference.

Bullshit Moz when PSDT takes the ball up in contact he breaches the advantage line, he makes yards, he imposes himself physically creating momentum and setting up a phase. He does it better than most - he is the go to man.
If someone like Mostert tried that he would get bounced backwards.
It’s not the duty of a blindside flanker to put pressure on the halfbacks or chase up and unders that’s the role of the openside and 8 in some sides.
He passes as a flank as he works so hard and makes an impression physically. But you want that from a slightly shorter more athletic player like JL du Preez.
PSDT is a brilliant lock one of the best in the game and it’s sad seeing him wasted at 7 - thanks to Rassie

Mike I don’t care what anyone thinks of certain players - I rely on my views and nothing anyone says will change that.
The same applies to everyone.
When it comes to a player like Mostert for instance nobody will ever convince me he is physically up to playing test rugby as a lock or that Morne Steyn was a worthy test flyhalf.
