The Breakdown - Watch these delusional Kiwis get flamed in the comments

Here is the latest episode of The Breakdown. 

This panel comes up with some completely delusional excuses and ideas in response to the thumping of the All Blacks by the Boks. Most notably - The Hit on Marx was not card-worthy. I shit you not, that's the opinion of these rugby professionals and journalists. 

Try to watch the first 10 minutes if you can...its extremely painful.

And then, if you want a real laugh, have a read of the comments section and watch Jeff Wilson and Co, get ripped to shreds.

What a farce..... a complete and utter joke

That shoulder charge to the neck / head area of Marx should have been a Red all on it's own .....  never mind a second yellow.

I have seen far less malicious actions get a Red card

I thought the ref was decent for both sides, but even he let the All Blacks continue to push too early too many times with those repeated lineout penalties...without reaching for a yellow

The question is, how does a professional rugby pundit go on TV and say this? 

Can you imagine Duane doing that to someone and Swys or Mallet going ... " Yeah, that's not even a yellow, never mind red."

They'd be a laughing stock.

Delusional is the nicest thing I have to say about that opinion.

They aren’t acknowledging very much, just that nobody else would present that kind of challenge. The Frogs certainly were struggling against Oz in the scrums yesterday, so they may be right.

And they pretty much ascribe the issues to the red, but they had plenty of issues before the first yellow. And they have been exposed, that will give opponents a shot of energy.

On the reffing clearly the Marx thing was a card under current rules. But the notion that you can avoid head contact in rugby is absurd. I watched the Tottenham match on the weekend and there were more head clashes in that soccer fixture and less drama….the roles have almost been reversed.

And the role of the ref now dominates the game. I watched Nic Berry reffing the France match. There wasn’t 5 seconds where he wasn’t blowing the whistle, gesticulating or talking to the players. All marginal infractions were called. The Harrassmiss effect, lawyering in rugby. It’s incredibly tedious.

Well, you do not have to make direct contact to the head to paralyse a player. 

You can't jump on a player when he is on the ground or did he just selectively forget about that. Everyone is obsessed with head contact. 

Even if he hit the player in the shoulder, Marx is on the floor and not expecting the impact.

Did everyone forgot about Pedro, the guy that got paralysed at 95 world cup, I think he died because someone jumped on him. 

So driving a player on the ground is okay? 

He should get 6 months suspension for that foul play. 

I would say the same of Bakkies Botha, he diagarced the bok jumper by headbutting a player on the ground. 

Players livelihood and health is at risk hear. 

Head contact and spinal injuries are two different things.

Ben Smith the Rugby writer said a few weeks back the ABs "C" team could give the Boks.

I actually fully agree with this, but what Barret did in particular looked very intentional and malicious to me, and it's not his first offense in this specific regard either ...

I have also never seen Marx complain about anything like this before, so he must have also deemed it to have been malicious or intentional ....

Anything to get Marx out of the game, for even a short period of time, would have been a blessing for the All Blacks, such is his pres ence on the field.

I couldn't believe it when they said that after review, it would not get escalated to a Red, but that it was only a Red because it was his 2nd yellow..... so if he did not have that 1st yellow, he would have got away with 10 minutes in the sin bin..... yet just imagine one of the SA players doing that.

If Barret's shoulder had fully connected to Marx's head / neck area, without him having to brace for the impact because he wasn't expecting it, that could have been a very serious injury.... Barret is not a small guy.

Was bloody awesome, and I went a bit apeshit watching it.... buts that's how I roll, lol

Duplicate on this video but important point how the All Black's are already focused on their quarter final opponent. If we pick up injuries it'll complicate matters for that poss quarter final. 

They can do no wrong......I agree that there shouldn't be further sanction, but that was a yellow all the way...Scooter can be glad he didn't connect directly to Marx's head...twas mms...that would have been a few weeks...

And Bismark tackle that crocked carter was nowhere near a card. 

World rugby need to sort this shit out. I’ve seen some pundits saying that we need to separate out foul play vs poor technique. Barret was found play, leading with a shoulder while the player was on the ground and coming from the side. In the same breath some may argue that Farrel was poor technique but to meet it was also foul play because he was leading with the shoulder and he even went to tackling school. 

Just typing this gets my blood boiling. 

An upright tackle where there is head contact is debatable as don’t believe the tackler want to tackle with his head. People forget how fast these guys move and what players reaction time is to avoid contact. It takes. Your brain 300 ms to respond, the. Try to move your body, do you think you can change your head, at full pace in less than a second, oh but we have the luxury of super slow replay. 

I agree that it is a contact sport, you will get head contract. There are protocols on the field for this and we have a ton of subs. Players can also help themselves by wearing gum guards and scrum caps.
