I'm finishing up my time stamp collection with Damian. I've just finished the England series and was reminded just how shocking it all was. So many weak tackles. One leading to a Mike Brown try in the first half of the first test. Zero big stops. Contrast this with André's big hits and excellent lateral defence. It's not even remotely comparable. I hope Damian holds firm for just one test. He did it against Wales in 2015. These reviews make me very nervous. I also note there are few instances of passing other than very simple links in the line. He doesn't get anyone away, mostly dead end runs. André runs much harder and is more upright in contact. He doesn't need to hunch his shoulders and burrow into tacklers. Ball presentation is another contrast between the two. Aside from Pocock being a menace, André's consistently provided quick, clean ball.
Once I've collected the time stamps I'll cut the film for all his test. I'll upload a preliminary video for Damian and André post RC and make a complete version after the November tests. We'll have the entire 2018 season ready for review. I think that's fair and we can determine who really was the better inside centre.
I'll do Eben a well. I haven't forgotten about this. I'll do his Wellington test and another with a better blend of attack and defence to show how he is utilized in as many different scenarios as possible. I'm think the Brisbane test will be a good one.
