Get beat up every week in the local derbies and then dominate the Ozzies/New Zealander forwards, only to:
Give our backlines the ball to:

1. Kick it back to the opposition  over, and over....2. Our backlines to crash ball and isolate themselves on the floor3. Our backlines to knock on due to poor passing and catching skills.4. Kick the ball out and give the opposition a lineout.
It must he a hard life......What a futile and pointless existence.

You should add something to this item,   It must be equally frustrating to backline players to play outside a flyhalf or center like Steyn - he virtually never passed balls to anyone outside of him and when he did, they are in a worse position than he is and it is at best hospital passes.

If the backline could sort themselves out, it would probably lift the forwards to play better. The only half decent backline performances are from the Cheetas and the Lions who also have the weakest packs.
In South Africa are backs are usually within 2 categories. Small and Big.
The small ones have skill but are too small- 85kg and below.
Most of the big ones have no skill and spend all day eating creatine and pumping weights instead of learning how to pass and catch. They have lost all ability to step and can only crash ball. They are basically just small loose loose forwards, sometimes worse.
It is probably the big advantage that New Zealand have over the rest of the world is that they can field big backline players over the 100kg mark that have the skills of small players.
