Most of us are guilty of it but we really are a strange bunch on here given how much time everyone seems to spend bitching and moaning at each other. It’s a strange place when you think about it. I wonder why it is the way it is. Do we get off on conflict or trying to discredit the other? Is it an underlying arrogance that I know more than you do, that your take counts for nothing? We really are a strange bunch and what makes it even stranger is that we don’t actually know each other, having never met and if we have it’s been fleeting never defining. We don’t even know what the other looks like or what they do, where they live. Yet we spend so much time having a go at each other I bet if we met in person over an extended period of time, things would be completely different We all share that passion for the lovely game, more so than your average supporter, it’s why we keep revisiting this spot Think about it - we are a strange bunch

Interesting post Saffex. I must say that it is the interest of the rugby that keeps me coming back, as I'm sure it does for most of us. It doesn't make sense why we post despite the turmoil at times. I personally don't have an appetite for it. When threads go sour, I mostly stay out of it. Most of my posts are rugby posts that rile up the angry horde who proceed to throw insults. I don't always agree with the likes of Mozart, or Draad and Plum, but at least they conduct themselves in a civilized way. I can get a good level of rugby discussion out of them, and that makes it more rewarding for me. I can see that you have a passion for the game Saffex, and I do admire the way you keep your finger on the pulse of the junior game. I use a lot of that info to fast track on who's who as I don't have the time or desire to keep track of that much rugby anymore.

Nice post Dave….the arguments are mostly a game….a few are more serious. But the adversary is in most part a figment of the imagination, invested with perceived properties….which is not to say that the perceptions are always wrong.

I met Dave in London once - he is a super guy -  and I met Denny twice.   I had a long telephone call with Mozart.   From what I can make out  in general people on site or not nasty - but if we agree on everything there will be no discussion on this site.

I think some members just write controversial things to open discussion.   We all ha ve likes and dislikes of some players leading to some distortion of player performances in games - just opening ways to discuss issues.

I have lost a bit of interest in the Board and compared to the past rarely comment on Rugby issue - but in the end always will be interested on what is discussed on the Board .

I disagree Saffex.

If by "bunch" you mean mankind in general then yes, maybe we are a strange bunch but if you mean us as a community of posters on a message boiard, there's nothing strange, special or unique about us at all.

There are literally millions of message boards and chat forums out there. I challenge you to find even one that doesn't have insults, personal vendettas and character assassinations on a daily basis.

It's human nature. Whether we like it or not, we generally conform to society's demands when we're out in public and even if we think someone is a dickhead we don't say it out straight. Apart from our self-imposed social norms, we'd also be risking a punch in the face. But take away that distance, take away the threat of physical retaliation and throw in anonymity and you'll tell that other person he's a dickhead and a lot more.

We're not strange at all. Strange would be a message board where everyone sticks to the topic at hand and nobody insults anyone. Frankly that would be a bit boring.

Crusader may have his tongue in his cheek when he says he's here for the scrap but he speaks for all of us. Yes, we're primarily here because of our common love of rugby but we're also here for the bickering and the insults . . . and the opportunity to tell some arsehole that he is in fact an arsehole without getting p unched in the face.

Same as i said before, RooiBek. An internet forum where everyone is polite and there are no vendettas, would not be normal. I don’t take any of it very seriously, and ultimately this place is a better version of a rugby magazine because journos have to be polite and balanced while Ruckers don't . On here people with as much knowledge as most rugby writers tell it how they see. Even if they’re always wrong…as is the case with Saffex. …that was a joke Dave. Calm down.l! You’re right about 5% of the time.

Good points here - I guess we are drawn to conflict plus the anonymity and the freedom to express via a keyboard leaves the door wide open Agreed it would be boring if we all just agreed Also none of the banter or insults are of any substance given the very above It’s not like any of us lose any sleep over what gets said on here It’s a great place to talk rugby when we actually do talk rugby

If anyone says that they don't enjoy viewing, reading or actually participating in some of the heated topics or debates on this forum, then they are speaking shit...

For many years now, the longest threads we have always ever had on this forum, including those with the most views ever... were always the very heated / controversial ones...

It is human nature... the supposed distance and anonymity creates a certain barrier, for everyone to say things that they probably wouldn't normally say in public.

This place would be terribly boring without any of that banter... whilst at the same time, I have also on many occasions burst out laughing because of someone's response to a specific post or comment on this forum....

We have some very creative and hilarious writers / thinkers on this forum..

I think under different circumstances, most people here would actually really enjoy a beer with one another, if they didn't know who the other one really was....

Don’t bullshit doos lamer you’re always in the thick of it. Funny the ones that say they’re here for the rugby are the ones throwing the most shit And I wouldn’t believe a word out of cuntyboys mouth or saggy nuts they’re both arrogant fucks. I originally came for the rugby but stayed for the argument.

My friends all have similar views so no fun arguing with them, here has a wide range of views so most threads tend to a bit heated and to me makes them all more enjoyable.

There are a couple on here that we could probably not be friends with as our beliefs are polar opposites but no one I hate (even beeno)

Everyone is entitled to their views as long as that's as far as it goes.

Long may the banter continue.

The Board is a bit of fun.  Creating Beeno’s  Trumpet was an enabling move…and there is always the rugby. I zip in and out while trading stocks or watching sports….I am entertained, to quote The Gladiator.

For what's it's worth Cloudy not long after she signed up on here mentioned you a few times, she also mentioned a character named RagingBok who she felt was the cause of the closure of the kiwi rugby website where you, Wardad, Hakwa, Moola and Justwin posted. And yes you're correct, Cloudy left because of Plum.

Cloudy mentioned her as well.....it's going back a while but I think she was the one who spruiked the flyhalf(forget his name) who kicked a penalty or drop goal to win NZ the WC? Think she also wrote a book. Naru used to post in this forum.
